My father is Portuguese and i just learned recently that he is from Madeira. I have been watching your videos for a while now, i would like to visit or better find my family that side. Currently living in South Africa. Rustenburg area.
I was there last year and was invited to a couple of houses, very amazing experience. I believe he was one of who invited me in and gave wine and other treats. Thank you so much
My bru!!! You’re a legend!!! SA Madeirenses! I moved to Cape Town 10 years ago, from JHB, and 99% of the Portuguese community here is from Madeira! One day when I’m big, I want to go home to Madeira! Força pá! Olha…. A Madeira é uma nação!👊👊👊
Yeah brother from JHB it’s kind of the same, mostly Madeirans!! Thanx for the kind words bru, hopefully I’ll see you here in Madeira soon !! Força !! 🤠
Well this is kind of a local tradition, not quite “open to the public” however, I’m sure you’ve noticed how friendly Madeirans can be, so maybe they would have let you in ;)) See you next year George ;))
Thanks Jeff & André, that looked like big fun! 🥳 I'd love to see more videos featuring local traditions please! Unfortunately if you'd invited me I'd not have been able for the pork what with being Muslim, but can that same dish be made successfully with beef, lamb of chicken? That rum looked good, can you remember how much the bottle was? I loved seeing the sneak previews of this vlog on your FB / IG stories last week & you couldn't tell if it was windy, but the drone you have can only handle a light breeze. Dare I ask, were you a little tipsy by 18h00?! (I won't tell anyone if you were, sssssh lol!) Have an amazing week & may February be good to you my friend 🤗
Ahah Rue I was tipsy at around 13h 😂 yes I believe you could do it with chicken or lamb, even with beef, it would be something else though, not cozido à portuguesa. The bottle I think is around 80 bucks, not cheap but very good!! Have a fantastic weekend my friend and a happy and successful February to you too!!
Yeah private, you kind of have to know someone with a shed ;)) and be invited of course. But there are the public spots, you could probably hang around there?? Have a great weekend Chris!!
Love watching ur videos with my boyfriend, love from sweden and brazil!
That makes me very happy to know :))
Much love from Madeira and have a fantastic weekend ✌️

I wish I had known about this earlier, I would have booked to come to Maderia at the end of January instead of the end of April. Next year. 🎉

See you next year George ;))

Wow! How fun!!! Are these private celebrations. How does one get invited?
Yeah private, you kind of have to know someone with a shed ;)) and be invited of course. But there are the public spots, you could probably hang around there??
Have a great weekend Chris!!
Can anyone show up and participate?
At the public area yes, but most of these “parties” are at locally owned properties, we just happened to know the people :))
