Been using Valvoline for decades. Ive worked in the Automotive Industry for 30 years & have seen many engines that have been disassembled & its easy to ID engines that have ran Valvoline because they are super clean.
I've been using Mobile 1 for many years with zero engine failures. It is a very good oil. My brother is an Amsoil guy. Great performance too, but expensive.
I’ve been using Valvoline 5w-30 Synthetic oil for years and have had no problems also it seems that whoever is doin* the comparison of Synthetic motor oil all have a different 1st to 5th rankings. If you stick with whichever oil you like your engine will still love you. Lol.
Although Amsoil is more expensive, it has the best overall specs. Truth is, all these oils are excellent, the key is to change your oil every 4 to 5 thousand miles and you’ll never have an engine problem caused by the oil you use.

Personally from what I’ve seen, Amsoil is the best, penzoil ultra platinum is the second best for the buck, valvoline is a good third and then there’s royal purple. All of them are good if you change the oil every 5-6k miles
I used Mobile 1 full synthetic 10W30 after the first oil change in my 2001 Dodge Ram with a 5.0 magnum engine. Around 50.000 miles it developed lifter noise at start up. Stopped using synthetic a d switched to conventional 10w30 oil. I now have 71K and I tow a travel trailer. With that mileage, I am leary of using synthetic oil again and especially with low (5-20) ratings, etc. What are some realistic/safe choices?
Those oils are applicable only in the US and Canada. You can see the label and standard approvals that meet the specifications like Dexos 1, 0W-16, and the API donut logo, but most of them are for gasoline engines. In Asian countries, formulations are different, such as for diesel engines. However, in my experience as a mechanic, Middle Eastern oil can outperform those products.
