For those of you torn between the two, go sit on them and test drive if they let you. The 400 was the choice for me, the riding position is more comfortable, better power band, 2022 or 2023 fixed the issues that are mentioned in the comments(so look for those years). It's really up to YOU to decide what YOU want out of your bike, so go to a dealership and see.
@ross4641 I haven't experienced problems on my one but I've heard ppl experience issues with their stock clutch. Although I did hav an annoying chirp at 9k rpm that I fixed by placing a rubber O-ring behind the horn to cushion it from the vibes
While both a great bikes, you can really see where Kawasaki is using that extra $500. Although they both are so similar that it really comes down to personal preference, because the prices are very comparable. I personally overall like the Ninja more, but there is truly no better sound in an entry level bike than the sound of the Yamaha R3. Of course, some of this stuff can be changed while you own the bike. But the end of the day, as long as it did what you excepted or you have fun doing it, nothing else really matters. Just remember that safety equipment doesn’t look stupid, what looks stupid is being in the hospital when you had the option to wear proper safety so please do that. And if you don’t have gear - budget at least $1k into safety gear. Make sure the other $6k you spent on the bike isn’t your last $6k.
N400 has design issues. Frame flexes at high speeds and bumps which causes strain on the engine block because it is part of a stress member with the chassis. That's why you will notice a lot of guys posting about coolant / oil leaks in their block or cylinder head.
@@OneTapKap I will actually buy Ninja 400 within 2 months from now, and yes, that's my plan, also full fledge exhaust that makes it lighter and sound better.
Someone should tell people that youre not walking out of a dealership paying $5200-$5600 for one of these. You will be paying closer to $6800-$7300 after all the dealership fees, taxes, etc and thats if you pay cash. God help you if you have to take a lien because motosport dealerships arent known for low interest rates. You'll end up paying $10000. Honestly theyre both basically the same bike. You get a hint more power with the ninja but the R3 is more rev happy. There really isn't much more too it. Yeah the ninja comes with a slipper clutch but at these low cc's you're rarely have your back wheel spin out unless you fuck up a downshift and thats if it doesnt burn out after 2k miles bc you bought a 2018/2019. Not to mention the R3 shifting is very prominent vs the ninja which is good for beginners. So it really doesn't matter. Get the one that speaks to you. You're be bored with it in a couple months and want a bigger bike anyway.
I have Yamaha R3 .The price for 2022 was 6550 €....made of plastic but super design and very expensive spare parts. Now in my opinion Ninja is better than my R3.
can somebody who tell me if the parts of the ninja 400 are way exensive than the parts of the R3?, because in mi country (Colombia) kawasaki sales their bike parts very expensive.
They're supposed to be cheap AF. They're low capacity budget motorcycles. Even ducati wouldn't make a low capacity motorcycle with panigale level build quality.
it's a wiser choice to start with 400, even if you might lose some money when trading up to bigger bike because you get bored with 400 fast, rather than saving money by starting with 600cc or a litre bike but end up paying more in hospital bill 😅
Once again Yamaha fails. For the price (In Canada), the Yamaha is in 3rd position : RC 390, Ninja 400 and R3 in last position. Yamaha is the crApple of motorcycle.
Man if only you could mix these two bikes together. R3 looks with ninja performance. It’d be the one
Engine swap and do some paperwork for it
I love this format, very simple and easy to understand head to head with the stats placed right against each other

What an incredible comparison vidéo. The better that i see on youtube.
Thank you 👏🏼
_still will choose the R3 coz ridden both. R3 is the better overall performer imo._
Why's that?
@@EverythingisFire I've tried both now and the 400 is better.

R3 all day the sound and the design already top notch
I’m R3 Yamaha lover but sorry to disappoint you Ninja is better
Drag race torque hp ect
Also, R15 sells so much, and so many features that the road presence of the R3 is overshadowed, Feels undercooked and underestimated. and looks equal.

Cases are small. Plus the newer model ninjas addressed and fixed the problem with the 2022s and the upcoming 2023 I’m pretty sure.
The Asian version of the ninja is not restricted that can output 49hp.
@@Balmung812 Indian version is sadly restricted, so its just 44hp.

Yam can't overcome the power and torque advantage of the Ninja. Needs to be a 400.
