    Gosh this is so cool why are some you tubers so popular that only paint dollar tree crap when you actually make stuff? Kudos

      Oh wow! Thank you! 😊 That's so nice! I assume you didn't expect me to seriously answer this question, but here it goes: I think it's because I'm not as active on RUclips as I once was, you gotta constantly make and put out videos, but also, people love making inexpensive stuff look high-end, so it's nice to watch transformations just by switching up the paint. I used to work in an art store, and I remember a lot of people telling me that they didn't have the time to make stuff, but buying something cheap and just adding paint is cost effective and great for time! I assume that's why they're much more popular than me, but I'm sure there are many other factors at play. Either way, I appreciate your sweet comment! Thanks for watching, and I hope you have an awesome one! 💖💓💗

    Good video! T.Y. for sharing! Tips: you could also use E6000 with the hot glue for added strength. And, using a foil pie pan is great for resting glue gun on. Done it for years! 😀 Diana

      Thanks for your comment and tips! Yes, E6000 may give it some added stability, especially if it's on a slippery surface, but I've had these boxes for a few years now and they're still holding up well using just the hot glue, so no worries there so far. 😀 Also, yes, a foil pan is probably better than what I use, but mine is smaller and easier to store to be fair, and I don't fully care that it gets messy, but if someone has better storage and prefers a better thing to clean up, the foil pan or a silicone sheet may be a good idea to use! Thanks again for your suggestions! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 💖

      @@diyem , i have watched a few tutorial n so far yours is the best, especially for sturdiness. Im going to make a large one to fit a hoop skirt, pantaloones, shoes, n dress for a 18" doll that i'm almost done with. Hoop skirt is almost 20" around, it was a chore too. 😆 im so gratefull to have found you! I think grommets might be needed for the rope handle but will reinforce on the inside. I would like to cover the outside with contact paper or the top. You said it was ok to reverse the corrogated/cut side to the inside n i might do that. Im so excited to try this! 🥰

    How can i make a cardboard box lid that is non-overlapping but sits on top of the box, like a flip top but thick like a box lid? I heard that it’s called a gussetted box or a fitted box lid.

    • @diyem
      @diyem  2 года назад

      Hi there Akua Asamoah! Thanks for the question, it's definitely intriguing. Are you looking to make a gussetted box lid with a round hat box design? I feel like it's probably going to be difficult to make that style of box if it's round. It might have to have more angles like an octagon shape perhaps and the flaps would need to be loose in order to fit inside. You'd probably have to make the base of the box the larger part if the lid needs to fit inside, so make it the way I made the lid (but more angled) and you may have to keep the lid attatched when you're cutting down the box or you may have to fasten it afterwards probably using a strong tape. You can probably make the whole box out of corrugated cardboard but generally and more traditionally those types of boxes tend to be made from cardstock probably for ease of fitting the lid inside easier.
      I am not a box-making expert by any means, just someone that wanted to make a project to eventually turn into fake cakes to make a fun gift-giving presentation and I just wanted to show people how to make something very low-cost into something that can be quite costly.
      Anyway, not sure if I helped with your question but I hope I did somehow. Take care and thanks for watching the video! 💖

      @@diyem I heard somewhere that it’s called a cardboard treasure chest after i posted the question. I watched the videos but saw that it wasn’t what I was looking for. Anyway, I recalled seeing a video about a storage trunk or chest with the lid I wanted. I looked at the videos and it’s exactly what I was trying to make. Thanks for responding to my question. Have a nice day.
