- BING BING & NEENEE LEARNING PROVINCE JUNGLE SKILLS PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION
#traditional #culture #nipahut #islandlifestyle
My filipina wife took the time to teach her two nieces a Philippines skill that was passed to her from generation to generation.
Nipa huts were the native houses of the indigenous people of the Philippines before the Spaniards arrived. They were designed to endure the climate and environment of the Philippines. These structures were temporary, made from plant materials like bamboo.

About me : Retired American Expat Brian & Filipina wife Luisa, living in the Angeles City / Clark Pampanga Philippines.
It's great seeing the old skills still being used. It's people like them that can support life when others will just fade away in a crisis
Philly, thank Lots and her family for sharing their different skills with us. Very interesting video. Thank You.
Great theme for a vlog, Brian and Lot, showing the practical ways in which Filipinos were able to live off of the resources of the jungle, as they have done for many decades in the past.
Cool to learn and it shows everyone needs to work together to survive.
Awesome video Brian ,everyone gets along so peacefully. The kids really look up to Lot Lot and she really cares for them lovingly.
Happy for you
Thanks for showing us this, I always watch yours and Lots videos 😊
I love watching how to learn new things such as this
Informative video Philly, great to see Bing Bing learning new skills 👍🏻 👌🏻 😊🤜🤛🇬🇧
I just love it I always did like working with bamboo great job everyone keep up the great work all my best Ramon
My son was always fascinated by Nipa Huts when we visited the Philippines when he was a young boy. He would ask if we could have one built in our backyard here in the States. I would tell him I don’t think a Nipa Hut could withstand a winter here in Pennsylvania 😂. I will forward this video to him to see how they are built.
Its so great that they keep the traditions alive for the next generation. Bing may not be as proficient at making the material but she is learning at her pace. Thanks Brian for the awesome video!!
Why is Nene so shy now?? she should share that beautiful smile with the world of RUclips!!!😁😁 Miguel is a beast, such a smart guy about the island life!!! Much respect for being able to suceed in that environment!!!
Nice video thanks for sharing I even learned a few things!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello from Chicago Illinois USA. Go. Cubs. Go. Richie Rich in the house. It's very beautiful over there. One day I still would love to come to the Philippines. That's my dream
I was stationed at Clark back in the early 80's. I enjoyed the videos you made of Angeles City. My wife is from Northern Samar and we really like your videos of your life in the Province..
Thanks for watching!
Cool stuff Philly! I need a man cave niba hut! Cable and internet a must please!! Hey have great week enjoying life! You are a very happy man!!!! JIMBO
Fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Very cool video, Philly.
Thanks!
Super interesting
I notice the people in Siargao are more fluent in English than most province in Ph.
Also the people there are more hardworking and would still continue the old tradition. I've been in many provinces and new generation will not do those.
Another great vlog.
It also reminds me back then years ago when i was a young child. That my mother used of doing making it very good and quick like 100 counts per day easy!!👍
Looks interesting.
I stayed in a NIPA HUT on BOHOL back in 2004. It was Comfortable, and it was Beautiful. Built Solid and had everything we needed inside.
Wonderful 😊
Great skills, if i were to get lost in a jungle, i would definitely want Miguel with me, because we would survive with his skills. :) its good to pass down these skills to the kids for sure, and Lot Lot is also very skilled. Very enjoyable video.
Cool video
Good video Brian we learn new things every day nice thanks for sharing take care
You bet
Every body working together, sharing reminds me of a commune oasis..... minus the l.s.d.😅😅
Bamboo string to make nipa roof and wall and strap bamboo floor, frame, furniture. 10 bucks for 8 hours making 100 nipas. Copra from brown coconut.
Your family aware of how many thousands admire them and their way of life? Their work ethic and how they pull together for the common good? How many would love to come, learn and share time?
I was going to use the nipa to quite the rain on the sin roof at our place.
Well it’s money, at least they’re working and earning,,😊
❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍 7:26 mix that juice with some yeast and make alcohol the coconut meat 🥥 can also to cooking oil
Or a ingredient for a dish ginataan
9:32 they never heard of a "work horse" it'll make sewing easier
Brian, we're going to have to take a poll on what your provincial Filipino name should be. Lol.
Nice video
Thanks
I would stab myself right through the hand a few hundred times trying that coconut thing 🤣
Don´t worry about that. You will do twice at the most before the blood loss makes you rethink your life choices. Do you see how hard they are pushing down? Imagine slipping and taking that pipe into the wrist!! 😱
@@RiderOftheNorth1968 😬
I know I'm going back to the Philippines and I'm supposed to go to the province
Bamboo needle? So cool!
Invest in some mosquito netting. Love the learning video's, if I wasn't so old and so damn lazy I would really love to give it a go.
Great Stuff! I Love This. How Do You Make The Square Siding On The Main House, and What Is The Name Of The Siding? Can`t Wait To See The Air BB House Done. Hope To Rent It For A Stay. 😆😆😆😆😆
Nipa huts were the only thing still standing after Pinatubo blew. All our hangars and houses collapsed.
Hi brian lot lot. Great video and it sure is good to see the young generation learning the basic knowledge of making the niepa for the niepa huts . It's an old tradition and very nicely made roof niepa. It truly a great video I loved watching and seeing the young kids doing its great and keeps the kids busy.arh great to see traditional trades getting passed on through the ages brian excellent video I fully enjoyed maraming salamat

Can't the extra juice be given to pigs for food ???
Looks hot today!🔥🔥🔥
I wonder what jungle the plywood came out of?
So will the nipa hut have a split inverter aircon or a window unit? 😆
👍
We live in the province of Leyte. My daughter is now 17. She was riding my Aerox 155 when she was 12. Very important skill to learn as a teenager in the province--to ride a motorcycle.
Great blog... Where is OSHA...lol No Hard Hats... No Legal license to work posted... No Steel toe shoes...lol
It's OK - they did a risk analysis. The major risk of injury was found to be stupidity, so all stupid people have been bannned from site.
flip flops are work shoes in the Philippines
