No empathy for any of these defendants. Especially for the teen bully cutting hair off of an innocent 3 yo, cat abuser/neglecter etc. I don’t always agree with judges in every situation however not one of these hearings in this video stands out as cruel or indecent. Perhaps unusual but I think sometimes that makes a bigger point to the defendant! Too often there’s more empathy for the criminals than the victims
Treat others as you would have them treat you. If someone is prepared to do something against another person then they must be willing for that to be done right on back to them.
Incredibly sad how most of the wrongfully convicted men were African American. Breaks my heart for anyone who's lives were stolen from them but especially for those because of the fear of a complexion.
I agree!! Yet what baffles my mind is the VERY young man who set fire to his apartment and accidentally killed his baby brother, he gets LIFE while this other guy killed a baby outright and gets 40 freaking years. In my opinion the younger man should have been sent to a strict rehabilitative program or something similar. A full grown man who goes a takes a babies life deserves a full life sentence for that poor soul he intentionally took.
The judge who taped the man's mouth shut reminds me of my old third grade teacher, who literally taped me to my chair as I kept answering all the questions correctly and he wanted to let other students have a chance. I spent twenty minutes taped to a school chair laughing alongside the rest of the class till I finally just decided to break the tape and continue my answering spree. Then good old Mr. Y literally paid me to let others have a chance, and gave me a twenty dollar bill from his wallet. Best elementary school memory. Btw don't try this with high school teachers, they just expect you to keep answering questions and give you harder tests.
The one's that were wrongfully imprisoned breaks my heart. Their lives were essentially ruined. Those kinds of situations are almost impossible to bounce back from, especially after 30+ years.
It's worrying that people can be thrown into jail for very long sentences based on flimsy evidence and, as stated in one of the wronged cases, deliberate lies, or refused DNA tests, as in another. It's a shameful blot on the legal system - for innocent people not to be given the chance to clear their names: the evidence must have been strong enough in the end, since they were eventually cleared! And yes - it's an insult to give tiny sums of money in "compensation". Even millions couldn't make up for losing all those years.
More judges need to give out creative punishments. American jails and prisons are already overcrowded plus most criminals don't stop committing crime until they decide to stop living that life, instead of wasting jail space on non violent criminals that'll just spend 90 days eating top Ramen and drinking coffee while sleeping on a horrible mattress, let's actually teach them a real lesson. The judge who made the woman spend 2 days alone in the woods is a perfect example, say someone gets charged with even something like misdemeanor assault, they could go to jail for a few months or they could choose to take a punch from a professional boxer or something!
@@ianholt5138 As you know, most of that comes down to personal/public opinion. In a country that's used electroshock therapy on homosexuals and alcoholics plus in the past has preformed public hangings, I don't see how being given a choice between jail and taking a punch from Mike Tyson is anymore cruel than throwing a misdemeanor level criminal in a cell with people like Mike Tyson. Is it unusual, yes but only because it's never been implemented before.
@@ianholt5138 I personally think that sending someone to jail or prison is one of the cruelest things you can do to a person. Places like that are supposed to be for the very worst people to keep society safe and to rehabilitate but incarceration is now strictly punishment. I've never seen a drug addict go to jail and get treatment, they get bad food, minimum healthcare and a mattress I wouldn't give to a dog. There's a reason most of the time they get rehab instead because even the judge knows there's no rehabilitation in jail, your average jails and prisons are filled with drugs and low level drug offenders and control of the drug game is what causes the majority of the violence.
@@ianholt5138 I agree with all but drug crimes but I also believe in abolishing all drugs laws to begin with. I've done a lot of research on the topic because of family members that are addicts and statistically countries that have decriminalized drugs have reduced addiction and petty crime rates drastically. I still think people need to be held accountable for things like public intoxication, DUIs, thefts to support a habit, etc just like with alcohol, being intoxicated doesn't void them of responsibility. I'd like to see drugs treated the way alcohol is, I'm tired of seeing people like Pablo Escobar hide in foreign countries making enough money to be on the cover of Forbes 500 by selling drugs. I just see how poorly alcohol prohibition worked and I see the exact same thing happening right now with drugs, making something illegal only puts it's control into the hands of criminals and it only makes drug use more dangerous. I say regulate and tax narcotics, anybody still illegally manufacturing or selling narcotics would be treated the same way as people illegally manufacturing or selling tobacco or alcohol. I'm usually a fairly conservative person but that's the one topic I admittedly take a far left stance on.
@@ianholt5138 One big reason I'm in favor of decriminalizion is because in European countries it's show it helps to get more people into treatment but I can understand where you're coming from. I respect the fact you're able to disagree with me without resorting to personal attacks or insults, it's nice to have a reasonable discussion about a sensitive topic in this day and age, it's unfortunate that mutually respectful discussions have become so difficult for so many people to have.
As a drug addict in Las Vegas, I can attest to being stigmatized and harrassed by the police for being an addict, even though addiction is a legitimate mental illness. I got caught with heroin and meth in 2016 and the cop asked me "What dumpster do you live in?" I replied "I don't live in a dumpster" and then he asked, "What hovel do you live in?" Then he told me he was going to call the drug dogs and have them bite me (which he did not do). I understand that a majority of drug addicts are bad people who do bad things but we are still humans- and even though I'm sure none of you will believe me, now that you know I'm an addict, but I've never hurt anyone for the sake of my habit. I do drugs because they make me feel good. When I'm sober, I feel bad most of the time. How and why does that categorically define me as criminal?
You may not be criminal yet, but you know what could happened? Have you heard about stealing money for drugs, sell (stolen) things to get money for drugs or stealing medical prescription... Have you heard about homicides, suicides because of drugs? This affects everyone near the addict one. I saw a video about a guy being high and beating to death a married couple and eating a woman's face. Drugs are evil, they can drastically change your life and not in a good way. That sh*t change your personality. That's why addicts are alway suspicious, because they are capable to do anything for drugs and when they high.
I read that there were some police located nearby. But maybe next time she will find an animal shelter but even more so that she never is allowed another animal (cat, dog, horse even fish). Kittens are very fragile, hurts my heart. I love having my 3 fur babies purring and trying to figure out if they wanted to be with me or my husband.
I have an abandoned kitten that's now 8 years old and the sweetest cuddly cat I've ever known. I'm glad he was abandoned by that farmer and not drowned like lots of old farmers do because they have too many cats already and don't want to pay for sterilization.
5:10 of course this had to be in another country cause I gotta say being sued for calling out your politicians, kind of what freedom of speech grants you
He was sentenced to 15 years but he was fascinated by fire because he had a mental disability and his mind was still that of a child's. It's sad really and what he did was truly terrible. But he severely needed mental help as well.

Judge was justified in my book...where the black guy was warned more then once...and with the one about the hair cut, justified. Among others.
If I remember correctly, Mr. Jones was attempting to prove he was insane. He didn't convince anyone he was losing his marbles.
Elspeth Graham he tried because of his past but he did try to commit suicide in which severely damaged his brain which is why he had no control over the weird facial expressions, growling, and grinding of his teeth. Because of this he avoided the death penalty but did receive life in prison without parole.

He's way too old to play with fire. It's not like he was 4 years old. He had to know his brother was in the apartment, yet he didn't get him out. So I think his sentence is fair.
I love every one of these judges!!

Incredibly sad how most of the wrongfully convicted men were African American. Breaks my heart for anyone who's lives were stolen from them but especially for those because of the fear of a complexion.
I can’t believe the guy who got only 40 years for taking the life of a child!!! He should have received LIFE!!!
Or death, if they offer that service in the particular state

Still a lot more than where I live highest you can get is 30 years. . .
Life is actually 25 years. So he got more than life.
Wouldn't it be a good thing if the teachers accelerate the learning process by giving you questions you don't already know the answer to? 🍻
The one's that were wrongfully imprisoned breaks my heart. Their lives were essentially ruined. Those kinds of situations are almost impossible to bounce back from, especially after 30+ years.
There's also the case of George Stinney, an innocent 14-year old who was put in the electric chair...
The US Justice system needs a major revamp. They need to re-evaluate and amend a lot. It’s time for a serious overhaul.
Red tape had a good end! Hair grows back, the older girls deserve bad haircuts.
Just imagine being in prison (shipped to a different state) being able to get out in 2020 but then u can’t get back home because of corona
$75 dollars for serving wrongfully serving 30 years in prison? What a joke!!! Xxx
He should get a million for every year served
More judges need to give out creative punishments. American jails and prisons are already overcrowded plus most criminals don't stop committing crime until they decide to stop living that life, instead of wasting jail space on non violent criminals that'll just spend 90 days eating top Ramen and drinking coffee while sleeping on a horrible mattress, let's actually teach them a real lesson. The judge who made the woman spend 2 days alone in the woods is a perfect example, say someone gets charged with even something like misdemeanor assault, they could go to jail for a few months or they could choose to take a punch from a professional boxer or something!
The prison system is a BUSINESS! They will never stop sending ppl to jail, necause there is money in it!
I got caught with heroin and meth in 2016 and the cop asked me "What dumpster do you live in?"
I replied "I don't live in a dumpster" and then he asked, "What hovel do you live in?"
Then he told me he was going to call the drug dogs and have them bite me (which he did not do).
