I was last in Svalbard in July 1996 with a group tour from Shetland Islands. Had a wonderful 3 nights and both scenery and people as well as the day trips were all highlights. Would hope to see the Islands again but for longer. Excellent video
@@keriprice3481 Anyone who wants to build has to apply to the local administrators and keep within a strict zoning system, there is very limited space available. And even with permission, building a house or a cabin is very expensive here because you need to import labor and transport building materials by ship.
@@Ghie_05 maybe my family and I can go and at least go on a vacation there one day. I think it’s very nice and I definitely want to go and see the northern lights.
It is not easy to live there, Master of Puppets. No social security, no health care, no home unless you get a job first and the constant threat of polar bears, to name but a few things. I, too, had dreams of going to live there but changed my mind after watching this video.
Also mention that in 2015 11 houses were demolished by an avalanche and 10% of the citizens have left and its in the extreme risk of climate change all tourism and building is not helping but rather contributing to the deleterious effects. Wish people cared more...
@@mvnorsel6354 thats perfect , no problems with authorities in that point? same rules as in norway mainland? could you leave a tent in the place for a few days to use as base camp? is that area "bear controled"? what did you meant with what you write about the english and sent back , no money? thanks for answering!

Excellent video
For South East Asian viewers, at 12:19s they have durians in the supermarket!! (Assuming the picture was taken in Longyearbyen).
Waw Amazing👍👍
Very interesting! Thanks.
One thing worth mentioning, if the camp ground is closed and you camp it will open the next day.
Hello 🤩 Thank you this is amazing
Add subtitles, so hard to understand.
Awesome! 🤩
😂😂😂
Nice video and informative but why did you use a snowstorm for the Northern Lights section? Just asking lang po. Enjoy the Polar Nights.

Beautiful video I like to go
Thank you for the Very interesting facts. I saw only one religious building, what is the main religion?
I thought that only those with European passports can visit svalbard without a visa.
Hi any recommendations where to stay there?planning to visit I'm coming from Dubai
Hello, yes you can book at booking.com for your accomodation.Thank you😊
Hey i want to buy a house in svalbard its expansive or sheep
I think it's goat
😂😂😂
Did you have to show the polar bear grabbing the seal? That was sad.
Sorry 😔
that was real, thats all
That's called nature
It would be far worse to see the polar bear grabbing a human, B A. That is why people there are told to carry guns. That is not a very nice option.
@@daisychain3007 I would rather prefer to see the bear eating human flesh.. Not the seal...

Take a tent and camp near the airport, its free. I stayed for 2 weeks, an English visitor I met was sent back, no money.
