25 years ago I read The Lord of the Rings first time, but honestly songs and poems were hard and as a teenager I was reading quickly through them or even left them.... now years later I'm back in MiddleEarth and noticed the pure magic of Tolkiens poems. I thank you for the melody and your wonderfull voice for this special song! Best wishes.
@@ninobourdaret9551 I'm german and sorry I don't speak any french. To be honest I only read the translated German version of Lord of the Rings. I'm sure the translation of the book into french is very good too.
It was the same for me. I may have interpreted the text verbatim though and when it said “song” I assumed it was to be sang. There were no notes so I had to sing in my own imagining of it, as closely a melody as I could make. It sounded very rough and had no beauty. Today I can hear from artists what I would have wished for myself but lacked any creative or acquired talent for. That’s why these songs mean so much to me, they are what I imagining them to be. Many different styles over the decades that I’ve discovered over the past 2years have filled many gaping holes for me.
This your song should be sung not in the forest as Legolas did, but on ship's deck. It needs air to fancy: fading shore in the distance.. foam.. flowing hair..and above all your soaring music!
I'm reading through The Hobbit & LoTR with my son. I suck at singing and everytime we hit a song, I search up your songs first. They just hit different. Keep them coming! You're contributing to Tolkien's universe in ways few others have.
All of this. I read LotR first as a pretty young kid, and read it quite a few times after that, but just now I'm reading it again for the first time in maybe ten years after having a lot of life experiences and have been enjoying the songs/poems a lot more this time around, helped in no small part due to having songs like this one instead of just reading the text.
Where now she wanders , none can tell In sunlight or in shade For lost of yore was Nimrodel And in the mountains strayed ❤ This song is my favorite song and most played one I listen to it every night before sleeping Thanks for singing it
Nimrodel could be the sweetest song from LoTR; if done really well by the sweetest, most beautiful elf maiden. Your version is the best one on RUclips, i think this really is the best one. So Beautiful; woot. Great composition, with the chorus & instrmntl sections being well placed. Excellent !
Oh my goodness! I can't belive you have such a voice and talent and you are not world-wide famous as Vanessa Mae or Lindsey Stirling... Or is it just me who didn't know you? I can't help but cry every time I play this video: it's so full of sentiments, regret, nostalgia. It really makes me feel sick of pain and longing for an ancient glory long lost in time and an epic love which leads a hero to his doom. The music and your voice are amazing
you perfectly described how I feel about this song/video and I felt as strange "connection" to you, like "how can someone else, in the other side of the world, use my thoughts to describe this?"
Yes! It gave off "regret, nostalgia" perfectly. And, omg, your quote about "an epic love which lead a hero to his doom", excuse me while I go cry again in the corner
Every scene edited in the video took my breath, and every fiber of your voice and composition dug into hidden places in my heart. You have done the Lay and Tolkien a great act of love! You perfectly captured the somber and forlorn tale in the song.
How beautiful to hear the song with belief. as fresh as the beginning of the day,sn sung with a youthful gift given to her, the music orchestrated well to give this belief a reality. I hear hope in this song, now next time I hear this song, i need to concentrate on the words. I am glad to see the evolution of the credit formation. Remembering detail is an overwhelming idea, but when such artistry is shared, a beauty of gift is shared but not known in the evolution of time. Elven time. :)
Loving that someone is putting together Tolkien's amazing lyrics to music. I'm glad I stumbled onto your works! Beautifully done. Only complaint is to blend the tracks better; your vocal tracks are almost drowned out by the instrumentals.
Gorgeous, Yolanda. It has a bit more of a modern feel to it than your previous Tolkien compositions. It has a rather interesting rhythm to it. Your voice is lovely as ever, though! That is the one thing that will always stay the same.
lordoftuft1411 I agree, it does sound a bit more modern than my others. That wasn't my initial goal, but the rhythm of the words seemed to lead me in that direction when I sang them! Thank you so much for listening and for taking the time to leave me such a thoughtful comment :)
The idea comes from the story of the Greek goddess Daphne who is named after a river, diaphanēs, which is in Greece. Daphne is also a name of a sanctuary in the Apocrypha. According to the wikipedia, there is a temple to Aphrodite in Daphni, Greece.
In other news, JRR Tolkien's version of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight has been used as the basis of a movie with Sean Connery. Tolkien's version of Beowulf, though, has not been used.
It’s not that all elves are dramatic. It’s that no one tells stories about the ones who aren’t. There are thousands of nameless elves who never do anything particulatly dramatic in their lives. And then there are the Houses of Finwë and Elwë, who have absolutely no chill whatsoever and cannot stop causing trouble for five seconds straight.
Overall, the Lord of the Rings owes quite a bit to Wagner's Ring of the Niebelung, and the Hobbit to Song of the South. The Ring of the Niebelung, though, has not been translated. The Niebelungied is the story most people read instead. Both versions are available in Penguin Classics. The Ring has been translated at the beginning.

This is my first read and these covers make the books more beautiful and epic. I'm able to enjoy the poems much more by listening as well as reading.
I'm a teenager and i really love this poems ❤️
You're lucky to be english, me I'm french and bad in the languages, I will can't never take full avantage of the Tolkien's poem...

Any song deserves to be sung in the forest!

Nimrodel the Fair. A woman of great beauty and grace.
Your voice is hypnotizing and your music is pure magic. I only have one complaint: Why did I not discover this sooner? :-(
Absolutely great. I am missing this on Spotify...
Your renditions are perfect. I can easily see this being sung in Lothlorien or Mithlond by their most talented singers. Absolutely wonderful!

@@earendilarwen15 Yes, right!
Simply divine…a rendition that captures the emotion conveyed by Tolkien perfectly.
Anyone disliking this must have had too many tears in eyes...

I think that is kind of her style; but that is only what I think. It is beautiful Yolanda :D
@@meliangrace2792 Yeah, like something of sadness, like someone singing while all they wanna do is go cry somewhere else. PERFECT
Your voice is like clear silver! Love this
You're welcome
This is lovely, and being in a minor key, is more appropriate than the Tolkein Ensemble version. Changing the cadence was a great idea.
Then listen to the Broceliede version.
Best interpretation. I heard this when I first read LOTR some years ago, and this song has inspired me to write the fanfic I'm working on now
So wonderful your voice is very very special. Pl. don,t ever stop. Love it..!

Beautiful song Yoli!
I'm glad you like it Leah!!
AMAZING :D

I'm wondering why you hadn't sang the Song Of Beren and Luthien? There is no one who could sing it better than you... pls ❤
Are any of these songs on ITunes or Spotify? I’d love to listen to them while I’m multitasking.
I have a great playlist full of them. Shall I send the link?

Dang, I wish Peter Jackson had put this in the movies.
@@mistborn5997 The only problem is that I doubt anyone would have sung this quite so well as Yolanda Mott. Sadly, Legolas is not a female.
Agreed. It would be awesome if the creators of the Amazon series would hire her to create a song or two
@Me Me I don’t know. Henry Cavill could have played Legolas very well, and sang this song.
Ineffable
beautiful song, but why are Elfs so dramatic?
we have to be; it would be boring otherwise, we'd be just like mortals then, only better at everything
