    It's not meant to cool down a room. It's not an air conditioner, so if you're expecting it to do what an air conditioner does, you're likely to be sorely disappointed. It's meant (and designed) to keep your PERSONAL SPACE cool. So if your in a hot stuffy office, you can put it on your desk and it will work nicely. For me, I put it on a table about 2-3 feet away from my bed at night, and it works GREAT! Remember people, as long as your expectations are realistic, you are far less likely to be disappointed.

    • @ColonelMarcellus
      @ColonelMarcellus 2 года назад

      My PERSONAL SPACE is much larger than the 12 cubic inches affected by this so-called device. Besides, it claims to cool a area ... you read it for yourself. It's SHEEYIT and it always will be.

    • @song8777
      @song8777 2 года назад +4

      No, it doesn't work nicely, at all, 4 inches away from me. And it does not chill, cool, feel arctic, at all, not even with ice in it. It's worse than using nothing at all, unless you want to add humidity to a dry, desert. That's why they get such terrible ratings. You're not telling the truth.

Would be over-all less costly to just open the freezer and let gravity do its thing. Or... get a bowl of ice-cubes w/a small fan . You saved us $40+ bucks on buying a mini swamp cooler.

Still didn't work. I used it outside on my patio in Dallas during the summer as I have central air in my home and it works fine. If you plan on using it to cool you down out side during the summer. I think most people don’t read the instructions or understand what an evaporative cooler like this Arctic Air Ultra is for. Or rather, what it isn’t used for. It can’t replace air conditioning and it can’t cool down entire rooms. It’s a personal space cooling fan. I enjoyed this device while I owned it but I threw it away after the filter got mildew and transferred onto the fan unit due to freezing the filter every night. My tips are don’t freeze the filter but if you do, use a ziploc bag to do it and clean the filter thoroughly after each use. If you understand this product and have realistic expectations, you’ll get good use out of this product.

      It doesn't cool when 4 inches from me. I grew up with an evap cooler and never had AC for 20 years of my life, just a cooler. This does not cool. It says, "Arctic," "cool," etc. and is not cool, whatsoever, like I said, 4 inches from me, in a dry heat.

    It’s meant to blow directly on you. They do work but can’t cool a room at all. I took mine to the desert and it makes a big difference blowing directly on my but can’t last long in that heat. The water evaporates much faster out there.

  • @Tall-Cool-Drink
    @Tall-Cool-Drink 2 года назад +3

    It will not cool the whole room.
    Whatever cool air it outputs will dissipate too quickly to register on your thermometer.
    It's meant to blow directly on you.
    However, you have the right idea to freeze the water soaked filter.
    Best is to have two or three filters frozen and ready to go everyday.
    I think each frozen filter will last about 1.5 - 2.0 hours, depending on how hot the day is.

But either way I know the arctic ice doesn't "cool" the dorm room but works great as a cold fan "my daughters words", my blast (in my opinion) was not worth an additional 50$ at the time, but I absolutely love it in my office (21x16ft) and does the job, but I will tell you even the blast does not cool the room. Just about the length of my desk is more comfortable. We still run the HVAC as normal for the house. But on a NC summer day, you're "screwed" anyhow...but they do take the edge off on a desk or nightstand very well in my opinion

    It's an evaporative cooler! Big ones have been used out West for years, but now companies make little plastic ones. They are usually cheap, have no condenser and work by blowing air over a wet screen. And they only work in dry desert climates.
    YOUR CAN MAKE YOUR OWN CHEAP EVAPORATIVE COOLER!"; Just put an electric or battery operated fan blowing wind at a damp towel that's hanging 2 or 3 inches in front of the fan (but not laying on the fan due to fire hazard). When the towel starts to dry, dampen it again. The water evaporating off the damp towel makes the air colder! These evaporative coolers don't work on the East Coast where there is more humidity. If your on the East Coast, look for a small portable A/C that has a condenser. If your lucky you may find a portable 12 volt one that can run off of batteries. They are expensive though.

    This thing is sheeyit. I can say that the instructions are simple and to-the-point. It's fairly quiet. But I am very dissatisfied with it. The battery will not charge, not after several hours or overnight or even after 24 hours, you still have to plug it in. It blows air that's just a little cooler than ambient air, which says very little. And that's only about 12 inches away. If you want to cool a room without air conditioner, get a big bowl of ice cubes and put it under a table fan, turn the fan on low, and sit very close to it. It's cheaper and more reliable.

    I had a portable swamp cooler that is about 3 foot high. Uses water to cool the room a little bit. I now have a Haier portable A/C that I got from WalMart for about $250. This portable A/C works great to cool the whole room. It does need a window to exhaust the hot air.

    Bought this A/C and four months later, it stopped working and it was thrown in the garbage.

    This works great! I have 3 in my upstairs bedroom even though I have central air. You NEED to put ice in the top or in the space behind the filter. That way the air hits the ice & instant ac! So buddy yah may want to try that & do another review. I also have the one for around my neck for work!

      Hopefully your ps4 wont get damage because the air on this thing has moisture that could electrically short electronic devices.

    Agreed - I got one. Put the filter under water, froze it, put it in. Nada - does nothing worth while at all.

    What part of the country do you live in? These evap coolers don't work in humid regions. Only dry areas like Arizona.
