Soul calibur intro gives me chills, it was the first in the series that i played, and i played the crap out of it. If only they had released it in hd on ps3 and not just 360.
Soul Calibur 2 intro blew my mind back when I was a kid. Also love the intro for 3 and the intro music for the first game(back in the soul edge/blade days). Love the series! Hope to see it returning soon.
omg, sc3 had a lot of good things, it was still true to the series and offered more. Unfortunately it offered so much good things that namco couldn´t keep up with, Sc4 was the beginning of the end..
Indeed, Soul Calibur V got the gameplay but lacks just that. A Soul. I don't care how much "Technology" is shoved in our face. The game is the greatest gameplay wise. But like ARMS. They completly had to cut a proper story mode and Arcade mode endings. I couldn't care less for all the newcomers. The appearance of the characters alone and their playstyle is not enough to carry their legacy. I hope that when the 6th entry will inevitably come. We'ill get to know more out of the characters.
Soul Edge is best in my opinion .Others doesn't even look like opening for me ... Also if i remember right Soul Edge and Tekken 2 released very close. T2 also had an amazing intro too. Namco did good job on those two ...Really Good Job...
What my memory told me: "IMO, Soul Edge has the best intro. It's perfect!" What I think after seeing all of the intros:" Soul Edge has the best intro. By far! It's perfect." I guess I've watched Soul Edge's intro more often than actually played the game - and I've played it a lot, back in the days ;-)
wow.... its kind of amazing how each successive intro was progressively less than the previous version. Granted its kind of hard to top or match the first games but still...
Incorrect on the cutscenes in 6 there is one specifically for Geralt and it’s actually kind of awesome, though I do get what your saying, and they don’t even do the narrated artwork like scenes they did five, which I actually liked those I thought the were cool, and 5 still had cutscenes for the important shit. I have played many games, good games as well mind you, that use the speech bubbles for any conversation, Hell the bubbles even shake with accompanying sound effects when there’s a fight you aren’t involved in or like a collapsing building your escaping, like it seems like they put a lot of effort into this whole conversation thing, and I understand you might not want to make cutscenes for every little bit of dialogue in SC 6’s admittedly long and fun to play story mode, but come on!!!!! We don’t even get a cutscene for the introduction of the main villain!!!! What is that!?!?!?!?
@@spacegremlin9972 But SC6 is completely a narrated artwork. Both the Libra of Soul story and Soul Chronicle hasn't any cutscenes with game engine like SC3 for example. Remember SC3's main menu? Water in motion, and SC4's and 5's beautiful crystals? SC6 has a shitty artwork and nothing else. I would like to see all characters in motion, in their full beauty of the game engine. That helped to lose yourself in the game's world with the characters, helped to feel them and feel the same way as they did in certain points in story. Now what we have got in the game? bubbles and pictures.
One thing I loved about namco, from their earlier games, right about up till the time of around tekken 3, their intros would transition from smoother to more aggressive instrumentation/drum patterns depending on what character(s) was being shown at that moment. Like in certain moments of the instrumental you'd know it was tied to certain characters without even looking just based off of how the beat switched up. I always loved that. And then even down to each characters music on their personal stages. It was always sounded like music they would have been listening to as individuals! These games were personable back then!
Soul Edge was just way ahead of its time, and the intro shows. The entire game was just insane for a game made in 1995. SC3 comes second with the intro. The music, showing Siegfried battling with his PTSD, and showing just how overpowered Nightmare really was killed it.
Sahory Misa sin duda uno de los mejores juegos , yo me senti triste en el minuto 6:36 musica sad y pena ver ah siegfried poseido y corrompido por la espada y que nadie le haya salvado de ello , y aun este en esa forma :( en
IMO 90s(and early millennium) were the highpoint of intros for all games across all genres. Consistently more memorable intros than post-millennium. Soul Blade Tekken 2, 3 and 5 Chrono Cross Wild Arms FF VIII Thousand Arms Xenogears Breath of Fire IV Vagrant Story Legend of Mana(both of them, the 2nd is when you place the home after tutorial) Ridge Racer Parasite Eve Suikoden III Tales of Phantasia PS1 intro(in fact most of the Tales intro are pretty damn good, but can't beat the classic) ...and a lot more that I can't remember off the top of my head, even old system SNES can have some powerful intros like FF6 with Magitek Armor Snow March or Terranigma. (Yeah I know, I mostly play RPGs. And man, now that I recount them, JP was dominating in those period) Special mention to Shadow of Colossus too even though it's later in the millennium, and Killzone(because of the epic speech). As cool as the intros from new generations are, they don't give me that feeling anymore. They are just cool to look at.
Great series. Been playing these ever since my mom randomly bought me Soul Blade as a kid/teenager. The intro still gives me goosebumps. That game was such a breath of fresh air at that time, I think it came out just before Tekken 2 did. I used to study Li Long's movements and made my very own nunchucks in the summer, and I practised using them, based on how Li Long moved. I actually learned how to use them too, got pretty good at it. Because in the game, its based on horizontal and vertical attacks, which is actually quite relevant to how they are used in real life. My parents weren't too happy with it, because just like in the game, I would attach blades and razors and shit to the ends of the nunchucks. Never cut myself though, lol.
5 entries later (6 if you count BD) and they still can't top the first one. Nostalgia aside, Soul edge's opening was quite "in your face" and full of personality.
Soul Edge and SCII are about equal in terms of amazing music/hyping up before playing. I never skip them. More amazing is that SCII's intro still looks great today - in fact it's probably the best looking and most dramatic out of all of them!
My ranking for best to worst intros: 1. Soul Calibur II 2. Soul Edge 3. Soul Calibur III 4. Soul Calibur IV 5. Soul Calibur Broken Destiny 6. Soul Calibur 7. Soul Calibur V
soul calibur 2 and 3 is my childhood game and no other soul calibur game can replace these two cause they will always be my favorite, but i love all the soul calibur games tho
Souledge really let’s you know what you’re getting yourself into and it’s such a well done intro/trailer. But would calibur as a whole just has one of the best trailers/intros of any fighting game series maybe it’s the swords lol
First intro still gives me chills, and it's 2016, and i'm 33 years old!
Same here, the first intro amazed me when I was in high school....the melody still appears in my head sometimes.
Soul calibur intro gives me chills, it was the first in the series that i played, and i played the crap out of it. If only they had released it in hd on ps3 and not just 360.
i started to play soul edge in '96 when i was 14 yrs old and it still chills after 20 yrs
The excitement of playing video games then was so much better.
Same here buddy XD such a beautiful series, my favourite
Soul Calibur 2's opening was sooo ahead of it's time. It's my all time fav opening.
I went to my first muslim wedding yesterday. One guy was just yelling allah hu ak bar LOL
Govinda Bhoonauth
lmao.
This is so random I can't breathe xD
Agree and SC 3 intro was great 2.
yes man I miss my GameCube😣😰😟 today kids will never appreciate this type of game
Watching the Soul Edge intro makes it feel like your watching the opening credits for an awesome Anime.
Ty Swan I would watch an anime of the Soul series. It would be awesome
Soul Calibur 2 and 3 will always be my favorite!
cai vue SC 2 was and will always be my fav game :)
Sc3!!
Soul Calibur 2 intro blew my mind back when I was a kid. Also love the intro for 3 and the intro music for the first game(back in the soul edge/blade days). Love the series! Hope to see it returning soon.
Mecha Tengu it's baaaack
First intro was great because it had such epic scale of both characters and scenarios...
For me Soul Edge/Soul Blade has the best intro.
Amazing when it came out lost my shit the first time i saw it
Because it is the best intro ever made.
calibur 2 and 3 were probably my favorite.
1 and 2 was mine
3 and 4 were mine.
and the best
These were nowhere near as the first.
@Roshea I hope so too I love soul edges intro
Soul Edge has the best intro ever and really brought us the iconic characters.
So many different games and yet nothing still tops the Soul Edge/Blade intro.
Soul Edge best intro in the series, but also one of the best intros in gaming history.
soul blade has the best intro of them all
The first intro will always be the best
yes
No, SC2
the more technology, the less soul, Soul Blade blew the others out of the water.
+Michelangelo Caravaggio nah i don't think the quality started to go down till SC4
+patrick watkins I think sc3 ruined the series
Deep Space Mystik why? sc3 maintained the majority of its predecessors cast and has a somewhat good story
omg, sc3 had a lot of good things, it was still true to the series and offered more. Unfortunately it offered so much good things that namco couldn´t keep up with, Sc4 was the beginning of the end..
Indeed, Soul Calibur V got the gameplay but lacks just that. A Soul. I don't care how much "Technology" is shoved in our face.

Soul edges intro gives me goosebumps to this day. The intros went way downhill after that. The the cinematography of soul caliber 3 is awesome.
What my memory told me: "IMO, Soul Edge has the best intro. It's perfect!"
What I think after seeing all of the intros:" Soul Edge has the best intro. By far! It's perfect."
I guess I've watched Soul Edge's intro more often than actually played the game - and I've played it a lot, back in the days ;-)
Soul Edge is epic. No intro anywhere ever after this compares.
ha ! Soul Blade will alaways be one of the best if not the best intro in fighting (video game) history.
I couldn't agree more 😊🤗
SC2 would like to have a word with you
the upgrade from SC 1 to 2 is unbelievable
I Liked the soul Edge intro the most, after that it be soul calibur 3 and then 2.
The first intro will be eternally retold..
I swear. Those PSX openings were Namco flexing on the competition like "Yeah we can pull this off. Even with this kind of technology"
Soul Edge's opening rised the bar so high that later games can't even touch it
soul edge. soul caliber 2and3 best ones.
First intro best intro
right !
transending history.......
is the best one deal with it
Nah the is the one from soul calibur 2 (to me) the music was haunting and they even got a better narrator for "transcending history..."
For all dood
wow.... its kind of amazing how each successive intro was progressively less than the previous version. Granted its kind of hard to top or match the first games but still...
The Original, the First, the Legend....Soul Blade
Soul Blade/Edge still has the best fighting game intro ever made!!!!
Lol, that drop off after the Soul Blade.
Imo, that Soul Blade intro has to be no less than top 3 of all time.
I grew up with soulcaliber 1998!!! so so good!
People will hate me for this but I freaking love SC IV.
Well these got lame after Soulcalibur 3
They pretty perfectly reflect the quality of the games after Soul Calibur 3 as well.
Yet better than those shitty picture-after-picture solutions is SC6. What a shame... they didn't even make a CGI or ingame cutscene in the whole game.
@@19gerike87 I completely agree with you. i just wanted you to know that Geralt has a cutscene in libra of soul, he fights mitsurugi.
Soul edge blows every one out of the water
Yep
Easily
Yes sir
Of course.
Alex Drax that music is awesome
Soul Edge intro beats them all. Also, the intro for the PlayStation version of Tekken 2 always amazed me.
SOUL BLADE! Best game on psx and Tekken series! =]]
my god tekken 3 was my shit
Deep Space Mystik Soul calibur 2 was my favorite fighting game.
One thing I loved about namco, from their earlier games, right about up till the time of around tekken 3, their intros would transition from smoother to more aggressive instrumentation/drum patterns depending on what character(s) was being shown at that moment. sc3 is DA BEST!!!!
The later intros after Soul Edge just sounded bland, such a nostalgia watching that intro! #1
SC1 ran on real time, and you could even make it yourself
You can tell how much effort and passion they put into soul edge/blade sc 1 and 2 the franchise just went downhill from there
Gilgamesh is wrong again what a surprise
This is how degradation looks. I dream that one day Namco will re-releases Soul Blade with all original chars and music in new graphic.
Rate the opening .. I think the first one, the original, is still the best, 10/10 ~ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Believe or not I still have the original Soul Blade.
Thor13332 I bought it and a PS1 a few years back just to be able to have played the whole series. It was worth it
Me too mate I still play as rock all the time
Soul Blade/Soul Edge The best of all
I'd like to see some of these intros made into full fledged CGI movies.
Soul Calibur Dreamcast is my favourite one... Its also the one where I picked up the series initially...
First was the best. Great song.
The first one just listening to it, it gives me chills, I think is one of the best opening video games of all time !!!
Nothing can beat Soul Edge intro 1 nostalgia gets me every time.
Literalmente lloré con este video :')
Excelente trabajo. :D
Sahory Misa sin duda uno de los mejores juegos , yo me senti triste en el minuto 6:36 musica sad y pena ver ah siegfried poseido y corrompido por la espada y que nadie le haya salvado de ello , y aun este en esa forma :( en
love this intro.. i used to listen and play it over and ova! lot of love in this )
+Racbir Singh in England we call it Soul Blade
IMO 90s(and early millennium) were the highpoint of intros for all games across all genres. Consistently more memorable intros than post-millennium.
Soul Blade
Tekken 2, 3 and 5
Chrono Cross
Wild Arms
FF VIII
Thousand Arms
Xenogears
Breath of Fire IV
Vagrant Story
Legend of Mana(both of them, the 2nd is when you place the home after tutorial)
Ridge Racer
Parasite Eve
Suikoden III
Tales of Phantasia PS1 intro(in fact most of the Tales intro are pretty damn good, but can't beat the classic)
...and a lot more that I can't remember off the top of my head, even old system SNES can have some powerful intros like FF6 with Magitek Armor Snow March or Terranigma.

You forgot fifa 2002;)
And Duke Nukem
Great series. Been playing these ever since my mom randomly bought me Soul Blade as a kid/teenager.

My ranking of openings from best to worst:
1) Soul Edge
2) Soul Calibur 2
3) Soul Calibur 3
4) Soul Calibur 5
5) Soul Calibur 4
6) Soul Calibur
hey fuck man! Four was way worse than Soul Caliber!
1 vs. 4? That's a good question.
yeah sc1 looked so dumb. like a little girl trying animation for the first time. wtf was that xianghua part
well it was real time models versus CGI, of course it would look weird
5 entries later (6 if you count BD) and they still can't top the first one.
Nostalgia aside, Soul edge's opening was quite "in your face" and full of personality.
Soul Edge and SCII are about equal in terms of amazing music/hyping up before playing. I never skip them. More amazing is that SCII's intro still looks great today - in fact it's probably the best looking and most dramatic out of all of them!
Soulblade is the best, a ps1 game from 1994 and it beats all the others combined!
the first one will always be the best, soul blade.
All them are great. There's such style and... soul behind these openings.
Get Ready for Soulcalibur 6
00:00- ソウルエッジ
02:12- ソウルキャリバー
04:42- ソウルキャリバーII
07:09- ソウルキャリバーIII
10:58- ソウルキャリバーIV
14:16- ソウルキャリバー Broken Destiny
15:32- ソウルキャリバーV
My personal favorites are still II and III.
Sam G I have both of them
Soul Edge forever!
The opening of Soul Edge looks like it has its own soul
I have soul calibur 2 and 3 and I love both of them they're awsome
Soul Blade intro is still awesome. Ahh, memories.
soul calibur 2 is legendary
To me, 2 and 3 have the best intros.
Soul Edge is best!
I love the Soul Blade/Edge Intro and Soul Calibur 3’s the most.
One of the reason I bought PS back in the day, and Toshinden.
First one is simply legendary. Love the PSX era.
Soul Calibur 3's intro is the best by far, and goddamn Hour of Destiny is one of the best tracks in the franchise.
My ranking for best to worst intros:
1. Soul Calibur II
2. Soul Edge
3. Soul Calibur III
4. Soul Calibur IV
5. Soul Calibur Broken Destiny
6. Soul Calibur
7. Soul Calibur V
necroheartplucker I mostly agree but I would just switch 4 and broken destiny
Yes!
boy u crazy soul edge best intro
soul calibur 2 and 3 is my childhood game and no other soul calibur game can replace these two cause they will always be my favorite, but i love all the soul calibur games tho
To even say that some dare to compare the mediocre soul calibur 2/3's intro to the first Soul Edge/Blade epic intro is just hilarious...
Agreed
Sc3 had one of the best intro songs 😍
5 was probably the worse one they've made. But oh well, that's my opinion. Lol.
YurGaurdianAngelX No your right
truer words always spoken
I agree
YurGaurdianAngelX Story and characters and content? yep. It is the worst. Gameplay? Nope. It is best in terms of gameplay for me.
Tselel Leb I wish it was like 2. It was a bit slow for my taste.
Souledge really let’s you know what you’re getting yourself into and it’s such a well done intro/trailer. But would calibur as a whole just has one of the best trailers/intros of any fighting game series maybe it’s the swords lol
the soulcalibur 2 opening.. so damn nostalgic!
Soul Calibur II was always awesome & epic.
Oh... Soul Edge my first game on PS. Best opening.
And SC3 is my favorite part. Hope new SC will be the best.
3 is probably the most beautiful, in honesty. Not trying to fight anyone.
I love all of them...
7:49 MY HAND! MY HAND! MY HAND!
V had the least going on but the coolest actual fighting.
Beginning reminded me of duel of the fates with the choir and such.
Soul calibur 3 is by far my favorite cinematic
man this brings back fond memories
A primeira é Lendária, sem igual uma música ótima com os gráficos que na época era fantásticos. vou até ver ela pela milessíma vez
Soul edge best edge
I highly recommend Soul Caliber 6. It does give you the feel of the games from Soul Blade to Soul Caliber 3.
Kilik is my favorite character in the franchise.
Soul edge intro is legendary the music is so good
So wait a minute, Yoshimitsu was never in any of them?
he was not a main character
+Daniel Garcia Martins Guest character for the PS2 version
Heihachi was a Guest character on the PS2 version. Yoshimitsu has been playable since SC1, and has been in every Soul Calibur since then.
Deep Space Mystik Why was Voldo in the SCIII intro then?
A tale of doods and souls retold
I hope Algol returns with his uniques fighting style in Soul Calibur 6
I've always liked soulcalibur more than tekken tbh I'm more of a hack and slash player so I just feel accustomed to this franchise
Please bring back the announcer from sc2...he was great
SoulEdge >>>>>>> all
