SC 3 was better than 2. It had improved gameplay and it added new stuff like character creation and Chronicles of sword. But still, the best in the series is SC 1
SC1 had better gameplay, better arenas, graphics that are still good to this day, one of the best soundtracks in gaming history. SC2 didn't add much to the game. No title in the series surpassed SC1
I get why people love SC2 - i've got all 3 console versions myself - but SC on dreamcast was a port that surpassed the arcade original and was one of the greatest games of all time.

The messenger There are videos to help you answer that question. But basically, Soul Calibur is a game where two swords are formed, Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, one demonic and one holy. Each character has a reason to go for these weapons if you go into their backstory in files and such in a few games. But the two at the forefront are Nightmare and Siegfried. Siegfried wanted to use Soul Edge to avenge his father's killer, but was corrupted by the blade and became Nightmare and began taking people's souls. Siegfried breaks free but Nightmare has enough souls to become his own entity, and thus the two class with Soul Edge and Soul Calibur for a final battle in SC4. That is the main plot but a lot of stuff happens that is told throughout the games with other characters.
Soul caliber lll is the shit, it’s the only one I played besides 6 (was never into the series and only played 3) and was disappointed when they took away the analog stick combat, also can we get Xianghua’s pink outfit back?
Do you think we'll ever see another REAL Soul game? I hope we do.... they should do something like a Soul Caliber Anniversary... come to think of it 2018 might be a good time to do that. However with such a game, they should License and bring back EVERY LAST guest character, and system they had... as well as some new ones :D Basically combine every souls game mode into one celebration game :D None of that DLC BSery, just pay once.... and there will be a special collecters edition with Full Scale, replica of one of 6 ether Soul Edges or Calibers... so it is basically 12 a chance for one of 12 weapons :D
