Hey I've noticed this in a lot of your videos where you favor multicore scores over single core scores. The great majority of applications are much more sensitive to single core scores as they run in a single process. Yet there you are always circling the multicore scores which are only 15% as relevant as the single core scores. Cheers.

Thanks for the video and this is good lineup but is ignoring the elephant in the room: ARM chips have obsoleted everything else for now, and Windows is in the early days of transitioning to ARM and to a Googlesque spyware "you are the product" type of business model.
The best recommendation by far for under $500 outperforms all these and has privacy, security, and amazing shared connectivity to your iPhone. A certified refurbished 2020 Macbook Air with M1 processor. It has a processor *at least* twice as powerful as all these, With Parallels. it can also run Windows faster than these machines. It sits at the top of all use-cases with the possible exception of a dedicated gaming-only machine.
Memory analysis shows that an 8GB Macbook is roughly equivalent to 11.5GB Windows machine. For a little extra I highly recommend you go to 16GB which I'd recommend if you can afford it, equiv. to about 20GB on Windows. Now it's over $500 but when considering resale and device longevity, it's still a lower cost-of-ownership.
      Cheers

I first bought a Inspiron myself and sent it back, ended up with a IdeaPad 5 with 1235U. Nice laptop two brightness levels on keyboard but biggest drawback is all RAM is soldered no chance to upgrade so chose RAM capacity at purchase.

Crazy enough I still have my Dell Inspiron 5537 and still works after 10 years, despite now it's getting very slow and laggy due to the PC's age (4th gen intel core i7 cpu), which is why I upgrade it to the flex 5.

For anyone looking for a *truly* budget laptop that isn't worthless, Microcenter routinely sells the IdeaPad 3 14" with i3 11th Gen 1115G4, 8GB DDR4-2666 RAM; 256GB SSD, FHD display for $199.00 US. You cannot find better specs (in a *new* laptop) for less money. As of this writing, it's selling for $249, but again, frequently goes on sale. (They are selling this laptop with 128GB SSD for $199 at the moment.) But, when I replace my current laptop, I would definitely look at Lenovo's offerings too. Dell, I would not consider.
Everyone I know who uses Dell seems to have issues around either the build-quality of their device and/or some performance problem related to the laptop's hardware. Just about every RUclips review of any Dell product seems to reflect this too.

I'm looking into a refurbished M1 Macbook Air from 2020 for about £630 pounds for 256GB and £770 for 512GB. However I am concerned if it will be powerful enough and will last long enough. I have a gaming windows desktop at home with 16GB of ram and AMD Ryzen 5 3600 which can run games fine and I've never felt it slowing down. I will be using the Mac for school work while I'm not at home in UK's equivalent of 11th and 12th Grade doing the equivalent of AP Computer Science and also working on an online business when not at home. The displays are instantly a red flag imo
The thing is, it's still possible to get 100%srgb screens at this price
Like technically it's on sale right now but the asus Zenbook 14 has 2.8k oled screen for around 500usd
Since these laptops don't really have good build quality, performance or any other gimmicks/features.
The screen is the only that matters IMO.
To be fair tho, the ones in the videos are touchscreen 2in1s so there should probably be a bit of leeway here, but I would recommend the envy x360 that's a bit expensiver to anyone who needs a 2in1
Edit: the Zenbook 14X for 700-800usd supposedly has 2.8k oled that's 120hz, but I can't confirm whether that's the base model

Hi, Josh . Why you never recommended acer ? Most of your videos doesn't cover any laptop from Acer. You don't like Acer or you think it's not good?

Let me explain this one as its a good question. This channel is not a laptop review channel. It's a find "the best laptop" for different types of users one. We have actually had a couple of laptops from Acer in. They do appear in several comparison videos. However, they just haven't really been as good as competitors, so they haven't got much air time. This does not mean they are all bad. We actually have some good ones here that will appear in upcoming videos

Honestly if people can stretch their budget just a little bit further than these they can find significantly better laptops in every way on sale. The ASUS 14X OLED has a much better screen than these with a good trackpad and keyboard with an H series processor for $750 on sale regularly. There is also the M1 MBA regularly on sale for $750 that is superior to these in every way and has insane battery life and all the basics right.

while taking about budget laptop Dell insperion 14 2 in 1 is around 1,02,789 Indian Rupee ~($1,245.20) there is also another chonker of a laptop by dell, Dell G15(i7-12700H RTX 3060) Gaming laptop which comes at around 1,15,989.99 Indian Rupee ~($1405.12) and considering it comes with a 3060 and a number of extra ports it would make for a better alternative considering we are already spending over 1,00,000 INR on a laptop might as well go for a better GPU for little extra cost. the battery on G15 could have been better tho. would love if you could make a video on G15.
Edit: There is also a lower spec G15 (i5-12500H RTX 3050) which comes at around 74,589 Indian Rupees ~($903.58)

Right now, in the USA I don't love them. Particularly the Yoga 7. Its screen isn't the brightest for where its positioned. The main reason though is because in the USA their pricing are similar to the Asus Zenbook 14 and 14X. And those laptops are just much better on many dimensions, unless you wanted the 2 in 1 feature of Yoga 7 and 6.

In my country (Türkiye), products with tn panel, very bad speakers, very low chassis and plastic quality are still sold as a budget-friendly laptop, and students who buy new computers always have to buy these products. I always seen this laptos in public librarys .Example models: Lenovo v14-v15 - ideapad 1 - ideapad s145, hp 15-15s, acer aspire 3. When I see the Lenovo ideapad 3 model, I say "it has a very good quality case" Net minimum wage in Turkey is $400 and %50 percent of all workers , work in this price.

Remember, with the MacBook Air (MBA) it is very important to see what the configuration is. Also, if I may advocate, look at the Apple Refurbished offerings - but I am not sure if they offer that 'down-under'. I am in Canada and our dollar values are about the same. The Asus Zenbook is a great laptop and might be offered at steeper discounts now that the 'back to school' time is here. Remember that your laptop choice should, if budget allows, have 16Gb of memory and at least 512Gb of storage to last you a while.
