I found the easiest way to switch from Maya to Blender was to change the keyboard map to the Industry Standard layout. I even set the theme to the Maya theme. I felt right at home and I never did switch back to the Blender keyboard layout. I've just kept it at Industry Standard so when I use Unity, Unreal, Quixel Mixer, etc. it's all the same navigation.
That's a good bandage, but it comes hard to learn new things in Blender or follow tutorials, since most people are using the default layout and hotkeys. So it's definitely a choice to make.
@@BrianKouhi I have had no problems following tutorials. When the say press S to scale, I just press R to scale. As long as I know what action they are doing, I can figure out the key to press. Sometimes I watch Maya and 3dsMax tutorials and just translate them into Blender. I have many years of experience with Max and Maya, switching over to Blender with the industry standard key layout was a piece of cake.
Hello, how I can do that? Like is there a option to put blender hotleys similar to maya? Or what do you mean by the standard layout? :0 I wanna try blender but I don’t wanna complicated myself too much so I wanna see if I can keep it the most similar to maya as possible
Hey Brian, I just learned that if I turn off Edit > Lock Object Modes , I can change between object/pose mode to select the camera by simply clicking on the camera, without the need to use CTRL + TAB to switch modes. You have more experience than me on Blender, I wonder if there is a downside to turning that off. So far it looks pretty neat on my end!
This is an outstanding tutorial and right on time. I’m animating my first custom character in BforArtists. Though this is a blender tutorial , I have enough experience to transfer the lesson to BforArtists. Since BforArtists a fork of blender with a icon driven and mouse driven interface. Plus, many more to blender doesn’t have. So this tutorial is right on time.
I am currently using AUTO-RIG PRO and all of my characters are wearing different shoes with different height elevations. Barefoot, boots, high heels. It is the same way when you create a female character in a game like Grand Thief Auto or Saints Row. How do I attach the shoes to the rig of my characters and animate them without making separate animations with different shoes? Can someone help me?
People have given me different methods to try out and none of them work. The NLA editor doesn't work. Parenting the shoes and the character at the same time and clicking bind doesn't work. The action constraints don't work either. I've been looking for a couple of years on a video that can do this using auto rig Pro but I'm not successful. If I come across something I'll let you know. I really wish alot of people could make a video on this.
I have a question, if I want to obtain better performance in the animation process in the Blender viewer, what component of the PC influences this process the most? A CPU with more cores, or a single core but faster? Or is it a faster GPU that has more influence on previewing the animations in the Blender viewer?
You can't transfer files between Maya and Blender (for the most part). Unless you're saving your assets as OBJ or FBX. But rigs are incompatible between the two software. I'm not sure about changing the unit, the best way to find out is to test it out :)

If I want to transfer files between maya and blender, do I need to change blender's unit to cm? Does it affect the use of blender?

Try USD maybe.
