So After getting on the opposite side of a B-29 human for multiple games I can feel the frustration many of you have been posting below. I just wanted to fly my derpy I-260 and it was an up hill battle. It did force me to switch my plane to a heavy just to keep the game competitive. I understand they are popular to fly lately for all the reasons I stated in the vid, conversely I hope heavies equal in popularity XD.
Depending on the map and your capabilities, it's possible for fighters to outcap a B-29C. However... B-29C is the arguably the strongest bomber on maps that are typically more fighter-centric while the other bombers are capable of outcapping it on more bomber-centric maps. If you'd like we could arrange a time to spar at some point and we can test each others fighters (light, multirole, and heavy) against each others B-29C's.

Since it's just a matter of luck if you are assigned to a battle with a B-29C on the red team, it is not helpful to say I must fly not just a heavy but a specific type of heavy that can shoot down the B-29C. Fortunately I don't see too many in my daily flights, so there is no way know to know "rats, a red B-29C so I should have flown a heavy." This makes no sense and is impossible to know until the battle starts. Being forced to fly heavies with the odd chance of getting into a battle against the B-29C is nonsensical. Thus your comment near the end of the video makes no sense and is further evidence to add to the list of things that make this bomber op.
@@markbrandon5236 It's not OP at all and I've done many demos for the clan showing just how to take down a Spec'd B29 in basically anything with wings. I've shot them down in the P51 in t7 and T8. I've shot them down with the 302 in T7. The 109G in t7 and dont even get me started on multi roles. I tear them out of the sky in the BV.P and Fw190. No issues at all in the XP72. none. I can do it to anyone I want too. Whenever I want. I can do it without even taking damage. People just are so focused on "it's op" and ignoring "how do i kill a bomber". It's not hard to kill. Just like any other plane it can be shot down. Put some effort into improving instead of making excuses.

Well played :) Nice work avoiding the flack fire. Exactly I don't think it's OP, it's has powerful defence fire but if you know what you are doing you can shoot it down. As always great video and agian it's cool to see you back!

@@patchouliknowledge4455 It's not OP, it loses to the Ki102 in firepower and turning. It's slower than a P38 and not as tough as a 410. It just kinda sits in the middle of everything. People who think it's op just don't have one and don't understand what's happening.

Didn't realize you were back in the saddle re: video making again. I have some catching up to do! Great video. Something I've noticed recently, might be coincidence, but whenever I fly my F82E, i I don't come up against any B29's. Sounds like almost the same thing happened here, the other player had to switch to a plane with rockets.

I play light fighters mostly and as such the B-29C most definitely breaks that at tier 7 and 8. If the battle goes south quickly (in about 3 minutes) due to bot imbalance (I was assigned to the weaker/dumber bots), there is a B-29C opponent. and I'm flying solo, I will use the "Return to Hanger" option when my dailies say "battle results only count if you win." I know most players (including me) hate it when a player bails on my side (not so much if it is an opposition player) but I've reached a point in my time playing this game (8.2K battles flown since March of 2020) that I will jump out and move on if I think the battle is a lost cause and I'm not just grinding xp to complete a daily. The B-29C definitely unbalances tier 8 and makes me want to bail more often (same for the XP-54) so yes, I to think it's an op bomber.
Additionally, most battles are "low population" of human players so with the low likelihood that I am flying a heavy plane necessary to take on the B-29C it is more of a "d8mn, there is a B-29C on the red team" when I take a first look at the teams. In your battle it was only by rng luck that there was an airbase that allowed for a player to switch planes that got them the win. More often than not the option to change planes isn't available so without the airbase and without a very good player on the red team you would have won the battle.
Great video, Vee. I really enjoy flying the B-29, but still feel the RB-17 is a better option when it comes to T8 premium bombers.
Hey, Newman, if you still in the game. I wanted to ask you why is this ? I am new to the game. I am seeing the B series bombers, or the American bombers as having way greater amount of bomb loads so I want to know why you think this way
@NIA Mac Heya! I still prefer the RB-17. It's got a decent bomb load with a really quick reload. It scoots across the map as fast as a heavy fighter, has excellent range with its tail gun to swat off would-be pursuers and between caps, can go really high, well out of reach of anything but high-altitude heavies. The B-29 is great, don't get me wrong. It's more like a sledgehammer, whereas the RB-17 is more like a Katana.

Very much appreciated. I am a war thunder player as well and bombers there are GIMP , exposed to all kinds of things, and they feel out of place. Yet, I have been playing bombers there since I began.
I do value the aspects of fast movement since that is something valuable in WT as well.
So I understand now what you saying.

Just had two games in a row against a FLIGHT of specialized B-29s. No fun here - I almost bailed on the 2nd battle. Our side had a bot B-32 and a bot Tu-10 in one of the "battles". It's getting to the point where I just want to bail when I see this - Same with the flights of XP-54s. I don't like bailing on teammates, but I am getting tired of wasting my time in usually unwinnable battles. I actually own both aircraft - but after specializing, they pretty much gather dust unless needed to get that last weekend prize - just too easy. Thanks for the videos!

Vee bat has been missed for the last year and I hope he is doing well in real life so he will make WoWP videos more often again.
With sporadically posted videos and long periods of inactivity, I have just unsubscribed to this channel. The World of Warplanes RUclipsr, The Noble Q is a better, more consistent source of videos for World of Warplanes.

I posted the screen shots in discord of my Third Gabby in that bad boi lol.. Oh and on a side note, with the B29 at about a 45 degree angle if you keep it level you can get all guns on target at once if you kite correctly. Just takes some rudder wiggle. Thats how I keep farming kills with it. My record is 11 in a game.
As of today I'm up to 5 gabby medals in it and my record us 14 kills and 12 sections in one game.
While the B-29 is very strong when it comes to bombs and self defense, its slow speed, poor handling and lack of options when it comes to bombing makes it still the worst option in the tier. People complain about its turrets, while in every game i had it on the enemy team, i just ignored it and cap sectors faster than it can... The RB-17 is much better option imo.

I am no expert but the B 29 has a massive bomb payload which helps destroy more are and great defenses

The problem isn't the turret damage output. The problem is that the US bombers have an additional +50%-75% health, plus substantially more turrets with 360 degree traverse at a higher DPM. Yes, German and Russian bombers are faster. But, the reload is only +15% longer, which doesn't really mean anything. The balance problem is yet another instance of WarGaming not mathematically balancing things. If the health disparity wasn't so massive, it wouldn't be a problem!
Loved the vid! I think at Tier-6 the XP-54 Swoose Goose is fracturing (almost breaking) the game.. that thing is a big nuisance.. I’m starting to think a good run with P-38 37mm and a handful of rockets while he’s distracted might do the trick🤣.. Who knows🤷🏼. I’ve heard the F4U might be the best counter. Please review the goose when you can, and how to beat it too😊
Good point on the player density, but one can argue if let's say there are enough payers, I would predict you would get 3 of these bombers in each team almost every time, the bomber spammers would be at the same rate as it is right now , math probability and human behavior says that not me :D so it would make it still kind of OP.
You can get 3 bombers on 1 team with the current matchmaking , heck I got in the last weeks with the rankings one game with 3 EF131 and 2 GAs spect out in the enemy team, my team had 2 GAs 1HF 2 LF
I agree that matchmaking is also a problem, but I don't think that is the planes fault. I like bombers for days my carpal tunnel is acting up, and I'm sure some players have worse disabilities that make bombers and GAs and excellent option. I'd rather have more players in the game over taking their options away. In the near term it's workable. But those that manipulate the game mechanics to create an unfair advantage are a problem that the devs would have to find a fix for. Unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon. Good news is that the game seems to be more populated these days offsetting some of the issue.

@@Veebat Here in europe this situation happens alot - where we have like 7 vs 7 people on side and there are some crazy matchmakeings that brings 3 GA and 2 bombers and 1 heavy on one side... and the 4 light fighters and 2 multiroles on the other. But anyway it's fun to play even in those strange cases.

It's not just the turrets. Its the turrets combine with the ability to one-pass sectors. And the problem there is that the corresponding real world stat is changed at tier 8 on the US payload. For all the other bombers, the short-range historical payload was used. For the B-17G, that is 16 bombs (8,000 lbs). The B-29 and B-32, should therefore also have the short-range historical payload, which would be 24 bombs (12,000 lbs). Instead, inexplicably, they were given their MAX load of 40 bombs (20,000 lbs).
So I will admit that I had to look up the bomb loads to compare to reality, and you are correct (as I assumed you would be). But I standby my comments. The issue is less the bomber, than it is the matchmaking and player plane compliment. A decent heavy pilot can neuter a bomber all day. Buy a decent bomber pilot can fend off the heavy bots just as easily. You are predominantly a turn fighter pilot if memory serves so you are more at the whim of the matchmaker than I would be as a speed build multi-role and heavy pilot.
@@Veebat 49% my 2.0 battles are in light fighters, split pretty evenly between BnZ and TnB. 40% of my battles are speed build MR (is there any other MR build? lol) and heavies. I don't discount the influence of the things you point out, they are significant. Where the balance of the fault lies, with the plane or the factors you mentioned, on that point alone, my two cents is the opposite - its more the plane the the player. Players perform statistically better in the B-29C than they do in other bombers, even the B-32. That is a solid clue that the plane itself is also overpowered.
@@AytchZero While I perform well in my B29... I perform exactly the same in my B17 or my EF131. The planes aren't over powered, there just isn't anyone trying to shoot them down most of the time. If there is a dedicated Heavy player on the enemy team, I will have a hard time. If there are only bot heavies, I most likely won't die. The players in fighters just don't seem to understand how to shoot down bombers. It's not hard, it's not broken. It just isn't happening. It's the player base and weird matchmaking. Not the planes.
@@PwnyDwn I checked the stats on several bomber pilots I know. On average, they are doing about 50% more ground damage in the B-29C over the B-32, and some of them are doing more damage than they are even in the EF-131. The theory that they are not getting attacked doesn't hold water, since on average they are doing 200% more air-to-air damage than they are in their B-32's. So people are more actively engaging them, and yet they still have more success. Its easy to squint and theorize and hope, but the numbers are pretty solid on this.
@@AytchZero I played my B29 yesterday for 20 straight games to see what happened. In most of my games, I would be almost totally ignored until I got air supp, then i'd start diving at fighters and picking fights. Veebat was winged up with me. If I got in a fight with someone it's because I picked it. People just ignore that plane because they don't understand how to beat it. I've shot down spec'd B29s in my P51D and H. My 302. My 262. My Masha. Even my P47n was able to pick up a B29 kill. Basically there is a trick to it. I tried to Explain it to Veebs and he just got annoyed with me and started a new match lol.. Either way The plane isn't busted or OP. It's dog slow and has a reload of about 10 years. I do more average ground damage every game in my RB17 and flip more sectors faster. I get in even less fights because it's to fast and stealthy for most people to notice me at 12k feet. If I can do 120k damage in my B29 i can do the same 120k in my RB17 in less time and I've proved it. The people crying about the plane are just to lazy to learn to fight back properly.
On more than one video I've seen players controlling the pitch of the aircraft while in turret mode. Do you have some preferred keys for pitch up/down?
Oh, and I've gone up against SniperSon enough times to prefer having him on my team.
People complained about how OP the OTHER premium tier 8 bomber that got spammed.
But No one is complaining about the RB-17 anymore.
Might have something to do with all the heavy fighter premium spam.
The BV 203 and Do335 have those long range 30 mm cannon. And the americans have very short ranged but hard hitting Heavies in the P-82B and XP-58
Even the Russians can get in on the action with the Tu-1. Sure its only tier 7 BUT it mounts those 45mm cannons that can kill you from across the map.
I think the real problem is that most bombers are so bad at defense that most players can kill them by rolling their collective faces across the key board.
Any plane that makes that even slightly difficult (i.e. americans with strong point defense and not much else) gets painted with the OMG! It's so OP WeeGee plz nerf!" box

Yeah, once I have flipped all the caps on a map in the B-29, I just fly to an airfield and act as a mobile AA platform. The gun power is obscene if you can people to chase you.
Great video, but here is the problem about finding a tier 8 to counter the B29… anytime I play a heavy fighter or a tier 8 that has rockets, you don't get a B29 on the opposing team... it's very rare.
With that being said, how often do you fly your B29 and find a F82 or an ME262 on red?
You can chip on the B-29 and do that with many fighters. Going all in on a B-29 is the wrong way unless you absolutely have to.
Guys, how to turn up and down when firing with tail gunners? W and S are not working for me, only A and D.
I have mapped pitch up to the F key in the bindings. That lets you pull up while in the tail gunner.

Have you ever played War Thunder? (Not saying you should play it nor upload videos of it, just curious)
I have, heavily in 2012/13. Back when the pre 2.0 WoWP didn't meet my expectations. It's a neat game, but it takes too long to play a battle and getting shot down is more frustrating because of that. It's a solid game and I have played it a few times since. If WG doesn't release any more tech tree planes that is where I will likely go.
The graphics of War Thunder are sub-standard. World of Warplanes is much better.

Kind of simple really. Yes its breaks the game if you are forced to play certain other planes to counter it...maybe counter it.
In a game of rock, paper, scissors you can't get mad at scissors if you only ever play paper.

@@Veebat but i do agree with it being a problem due to player population aswell. A lot of people I have talked to avoid higher tiers because of bombers being too impactful without counters, except for heavys in some cases. This is not what this game needs in my opinion.

Everything about warthunder is worse. Especially for new players. I tried to like it but just found it to be a boring substandard game. And I mean just the planes..as that is the only comparative to wowp.
It's friggin insane how OP turrets are. They were next to useless IRL but in this game a turret with 2 guns will have more firepower than a heavy fighter with forward firing canons. A stat padders paradise.
This comment tells me you've never played a bomber or GA with turrets at that tier. You can very much be killed.
