- Casper is recovering after coyotes ganged up on the dog. They fought up and down the street and went missing for days. Two days later, he returned home.

This dog has more heart than most of the people I pass every day.
@Lars Svensen not sure if that was a crack at me or you are a troll but a little info for you. 1. I use art supplies for school not protests. 2. I worked during cough cough did not get money to sit on butt. 3. I believe in self sufficiency and self defense. Does that answer your question ⁉️

Undeniable, unimaginable loyalty. Casper knew his job...and did his job...without question. Courage, strength, perseverance, and bravery. What a Hero!! I hope Casper's retirement is enjoyable. He certainly earned it, and so much more!! This is more proof of why dogs are so much better than humans. We are too ignorant to learn from their standards and morals.
He will likely be happier being with the sheep than laying around. Hopefully they get another dog and he can do his thing
On TV 11 it's stated the other great Pyrenees female Ann And Casper safely herded the sheep into a corner and then Casper went to work. 8 of those 11 coyotes he took down.
He earned retirement and time to get a second dog. ❤ He is the John McLean of the dog world. ❤️
They have a second dog he stayed back and kept the sheep safe from any stragglers that Casper might have missed

I Agee we took in a cat from the street after a couple of months my son went to get a well cheque up and shots 600 bucks and out sweet cat was found dead in the morning .it was all about the money not the care .

@@pommiebears , My female Rottweiler has way too much spunk to stay home guarding the sheep. She's a couple of inches shorter and twenty pounds lighter than my male but she's an absolute beast of a dog. My big boy is a lot more mellow and laid back. She doesn't even walk , she runs everywhere...lol. She was supposed to be a show dog but doesn't have the temperament for it.

People raise enough money to cover his surgeries/treatment.
People raise so much money that there's leftovers to help other animals that don't have the same amount of headline attention.

but the surplus donations given to him are being used on future pups in need because of the dog's heroic actions.
He really is a guardian dog. Saving more than just his flock's life.
I love my dogs and spent $5,000, without hesitation, on one of my dogs who needed surgery. Vet costs are out of control and if your vet recommends a specialist or vet hospital, get out your credit card! There is something wrong in the USA and other countries when it comes to excessive vet costs and medications. I know becoming a veterinarian is expensive and staff need to be paid, etc., but let’s be reasonable. It has gotten so ridiculous, many animals suffer because the owners can’t afford to take their pets to the vet for annual exams, shots, treatment or surgery. Veterinarians always say they became vets to help animals...but that's hypocritical and counter-productive when an animal is denied care due to their $$$$ costs.

Yeah true and there is pet insurance but it’s not the same you have to pay first and they just reimburse. I have seen some jobs offer pet insurance as a benefit but probably works the same
Yes, expensive but let's put the responsibility where it belongs - owning a pet is not a right. Every dog owner should carry pet insurance unless you are well-off enough without it, it should be considered a necessary pet expense just like food, annual exams and shots. If you can't afford pet healthcare then you can't afford to have an animal. It's tragic when an animal is put down for a medical emergency that could be treated but isn't due to owner finances. That animal could have lived a full life with a different owner.

I find it a bit disturbing that you couldn't grab a rifle/shotgun and pursue your dog as he fought off and was engaged with hostiles,I have goats and two border collies that often engage with coyotes and hold their own but when needed get 100% help from me in a blink of an eye.Your dog deserved better,sorry for him he did what he could do by himself.

A knife in one hand a long stick in the other. Keep them from surrounding your dog and he will have an easier time killing them. You work together.
Plus theres tons of extra protection you can buy for your dogs like neckgaurds with spikes to help protect thier necks. Hell theres vest to help protect dogs from boars tusk. Boar hunting with dogs is a thing where you have to work together with your dog and all you have is a knife to kill the boar. Takes skill.
Exactly. The "owner" (that's an insult to dog owners) said it took about half an hour of fighting so what did the owner do, stand there with his mouth hanging open like a guppy?
Good to see there are people out there that really know and understand what real friends are and how they treat and look after each other,.
Great job Casper. Please retire the dog and have additional dog guards. This set a precedent so equip better for it. No reason he should have had to fight alone.

The poor dog probably though he was a goner and did what most dying animals do, go hide and hunker down out of sight and pass on but after going to sleep and waking up so many days he probably thought im alive still?!?! it’s time to get help, I’m still here but hurtin bad and showed sought his master out. Brave dog, hope he heals up well and takes it easy.

The owner says it was at night, he was awakened and came out, watched, did nothing, went back to bed without bothering to assist his dog or discourage the coyotes. ‘We knew he was injured…’ yet didn’t bother looking for his grievously injured dog until the next day! Everyone else paid for the vet bills…likely the owner would have just shot him or left him to live or die without getting him any assistance otherwise.
You make a fair point. But you do have to understand farm dogs versus your home dogs. It's a fine line, but there is a very different level of ownership and care there typically.

Where I live, there is no closed season or bag limit for coyotes, but there are still many coyotes. The much smaller wolf population does more damage.

So this owner stood around and watched - left his dog to fight off all the coyotes while he did NOTHING and didn't even bother to look for the injured pup...Dog should have run off to a new owner...this guy is AWFUL. How do you let your dog fight like that for half an hour ? Get your gun out of the truck or house and help your dog out. I have two massive Rottweilers that can take care of business but my job is to protect them. I'm not going to let them fight alone .

Casper is still young and glad he's getting better. Get this boy a good spike collar and the collars that are used on dogs that hunt boar. I would definitely make sure by doubling down to protect his neck. Plus add another LGB to help protect the live stock..always better to have two.

Casper did have another dog with him, Daisy. But, Daisy herded the flock away from the coyotes whilst Casper fought them off. They worked together. He’s a fair dinkum hero!

He’s earned retirement. At the very least add a couple to his pack to help even the numbers. Or better yet, as the “boss” help by calling them in and thinning them out. Sometimes he needs you also. Leave the coyote heads hanging. It will deter the coyotes.
Next time get a riffle mr farmer. One warning shot into the air could have at least send them running and saved the poor mut a whole lot of ordeal.
Casper is the truth. Unfortunately, the coyotes were probably young and inexperienced. The den needs to be found because next time, a team of experienced and hungry coyotes will come. Casper needs a partner or two
She said that he's too spoiled now to be a guardian dog. Yeah, right. Protecting his pack is in his DNA. One has nothing to do with the other. Give that good boy a steak and a comfy place to spend his days, but don't underestimate his dedication in protecting his own.
