      @@OakWellHome
      Hi again. Thank you for welcoming me into your channel.
      I'm wondering if you can do a little bit more on the tin can flour pockets, because I'm having difficulty with mine.
      Do you cut both ends off?
      Or do you leave the bottom on?
      I've kept the bottom on mine, and I can't get it right.
      I hope this is not a stupid question.
      Thank you in advance for your help.

    • @OakWellHome
      @OakWellHome  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi...I do cut both ends off the cans. I think it may show that in the beginning of my various Smashed Can videos and no, your question is not stupid. It would probably work with only one end cut off if you had a vice grip but I cut both ends off so I can bend it myself and then use pliers to help close it closer together. I hope this helps. Take a look at my other smashed can videos to see if they also help. Thank you again. 💖

      @@OakWellHome thank you for taking the time to help me through this project.
      I also re-watched your video and see very briefly you did cut the bottom off. I was completely missing that step.
      I'm going to give it another try. Thank you so much. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

    I love all the cans you made but especially the 1st one. Lavender and purple are my colors for sure. My bedroom is done up in those colors. Anyway I love the trim, it's so smart to repurpose things and the purple ruffle from your handbag couldn't have been a better choice. It compliments the napkin so well. I just recently had a big bag of old clothes I was getting rid of. Then last minute I ran to my shed and pulled out every one and I took off buttons lace, I had jeans and I tore off pockets but what treasures 4 crafts. I also love the handle you made with the beads, really they're all beautiful. Thank you for showing your projects. Very much appreciated.

    Never heard of this 'fusion ultra grip' before. It's sort of like a primer we suppose.Never heard of the 'polyvine' either. It acts like mod podge?

    • @OakWellHome
      @OakWellHome  Год назад

      Thank you so much, SCG for your comment and for your questions. The fusion ultra grip is a product that is part of the fusion paint line and it's also a Canadian product. It's a great product to use on items that need something to give better paint adhesion. It goes a long way and I've had my bottle for a long time. The fusion paint is amazing to and you need less coats for your projects! I just recently heard of the Polyvine in the last year and it has more of a thinner consistency compared to mod podge which I like sometimes. There are many variations of the polyvine and you can go to Ninny Napkins to see all of the different types. You can use my 10% off coupon code in my description box if you'd like to try some. Thank you so much for sharing some of your time with me. See you next time. 💖

    I have been making these for a few months, but I am using the big cans a friend saves me from the school cafeteria. I need to find smaller cans, but lately, they all have the rounded edges. I also stuff mine with Moss, and foam (I see now unnecessory)! Your way is much less time consuming, and brings the cost of supplies down! They are very pretty. May I ask what price you sell them for?

      Thank you so much for your comment, Gloria! Welcome to my channel! When I want to make them, I have to look at the cans at the grocery store to make sure they have the lip on the bottom. lol I learned the hard way by painting a whole bunch of cans with the rounded lip and I haven't been able to find a can opener that opens the rounded lip. The rounded bottom cans are annoying. lol Yes, I agree not stuffing anything in the bottom keeps the cost down but some florals may need the floral foam but I try not to use it, if I don't have to. I had them priced at $18 Canadian dollars. Stay tuned for new smashed cans coming up in this weeks video so don't forget to click the notification bell so RUclips notifies you when I post a video. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me.💖

    I'm sorry if this is asked & covered but I am watching with captions but do you ever get it perfectly together on the bottom after hammering? I hammer as much as I can but there is still a slight gap. Thanks!

    • @OakWellHome
      @OakWellHome  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Q. Some will close completely but some have a little gap and if there is a gap, I just bring my napkin over it and you can't see the gap anymore. You can also use lace, twine, fringe or whatever you have and if you don't want anything on the bottom, the napkin will cover it. Thank you for your question. Welcome to my channel. 💖

    Lay a 1 inch board across the bottom of the can press on the wood. Also turn it so the wood is closest to you.

    How do you stop rust

    • @OakWellHome
      @OakWellHome  2 месяца назад

      You can add a sealer to help prevent rust. You could also try adding a wax sealer. Thank you for watching and for your question. :)

      I've been looking at ideas on these pocket cans and I saw a lady who put coffee filters inside, some soil, then succulents 😃 I'm gonna try that one myself

      @@grammywhammy4595 I've also saw the coffee filter idea. I think it helps keep the moisture in the soil. I want to try this with some of my plants that I have to repot. Thank you for suggesting this idea. 🤗

    I have a table vice got it for about 25 Euros it would be about the same in CA dollars 25 give or take 5 but it would be best to get one that is attaching to the table you will see it helps you crush cans with ease! EDIT : please don't use a drill in your hands like that you will hurt yourself and it tells other that is a safe thing to do when in fact it is not please use a vice for the drilling of anything even a cork! Thank you!

      Thank you Ivan for your comment. Yes a vice grip would make it a lot easier to crush the cans and also to drill the cork but unfortunately I don't always have the funds to get every tool I would like to have and there are a lot of tools I would like. If you have been watching my videos for a while then you know that I am an advocate of practicing safety when using tools and I talk about it in my videos. Tools are to be respected for sure. We will have to agree to disagree about me drilling the cork being unsafe. RUclips videos are sped up a lot of the times for video time purposes and I can assure you I was going slow when drilling the cork and being very mindful and also because cork is soft, I knew it would be ok. I agree though, that putting the cork in a vice grip would be better if I had one. Thank you for your comment and for sharing some of your time with me. 💖
