    Tesla AI day presented the most amazing real-world AI & engineering effort I have ever seen in my life. This a quick video on the main ideas from the presentation. Here are the timestamps:
    0:00 - Overview
    1:16 - Neural network architecture
    4:55 - Data and annotation
    6:44 - Autopilot & DOJO
    8:28 - Summary: 3 key ideas
    9:55 - Tesla Bot

      Thanks for the breakdown. Loved it the video and the demonstration.
      That Tesla would love to build a real world predictable model of the working world isn't a surprise. Where are the scientists drawing the line on autonomy? Do the predictions get shared between cars(agents)? Traffic definitely could benefit from some centralization (e.g., lights). Where are lines, in your opinion, in the relationship between the infra(state), sensor-networks and autonumous cars ?

      That is literally where everybody starts with everything. We just tend to forget our confusion once something becomes “obvious” or “intuitive”.
      As Carol Dweck points out, our mindset makes all the difference. We don’t need to already know a topic to master it.

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries 3 года назад +2

      Honestly once you peel away the many layers of technical stuff, all that is left away is really smart and logical ways to solve a problem while maintaining scalability.
      I think what Tesla understood is that you dont want a perfect system, you want one that is good enough to fill every task you need to to do, but most importantly to get it out there in the rough. What is surprising is that this is everything we tell engineering students but when we get in the wild to get shit done, then we hit management brick walls that are basically unwilling to finch on solutions they already use even if proven wrong and limiting.

The one thing that was impressive from yesterday was that tesla is managing to do what waymo does with a significantly lower quality sensor suite (low res cameras, no lidar, etc)

    You should interview whoever develops these neural networks at Tesla and transforms the raw input data to the car being actively aware of its surroundings, however that works in detail is wizardry to me, but I really wanna know how that - software wise works, how that gets created, how from the conceptual thought, through the code it becomes the 'sentient' car (and works) is beyond me.
    I mean I get how it does it (from the demo and other videos) but how it does it in detail, like what's written, what software, what hardware implementation they do and what do they need to be capable of, who are the suppliers, what do they develop and such, that's what I'd really like to know.

    FSD and Making human interplanetary are the two hardest things humans have done (or doing). I also think both will go down as saving the most human lives. FSD few accidents, many less deaths and going to Mars because we continue to destroy our planet or a meteor does.

    Thank You @Lex I agree. I was not particularly excited about the robot (mostly because it is probably 10 years away) but the AI, D1 and DOJO were fantastic. It sort of proved what I believed but had no real proof for. TESLA is further along than what we think. Of course, I don't agree with you. I think the self-driving problem is already solved (for most common scenarios in USA) Unfortunately, there is no real experiment that I can do to prove I'm right :-( From all the observations of FSD beta testers, there is enough evidence that FSD is about as good as a teenage driver. The type of disengagement and interventions are because of conservative settings in the BETA stack or because the tester simply did not feel comfortable. Where they let the car figure it out. The vehicle did not do it elegantly but it did work. Considering the number of people I have seen reversing on a highway, skipping red lights, drive the wrong way down a one way, changing lanes without indicating, not keeping following distance, distracted on their phones, passing on sold lines, I would feel safer if my vehicle was driven by a TESLA FSD system. Of course I would prefer every other car has it as well.
