One thing people don’t fully understand is that traditional AI researchers would never have been able to create something like DeepSeek. The team behind DeepSeek doesn’t come from the conventional AI field. They come from hedge funds, where they used to optimize down to nanoseconds. They are exceptionally talented recent graduates. DeepSeek started as a side project. Their primary income comes from trading. They initially just wanted to publish papers to enhance their resumes. Little did they know, they were creating a 'Ford Model T moment.' The Model T was the first affordable car, making automobile travel accessible to middle-class Americans.
And DeepSeek can't answer a question about Xi Jinping? Ask it when his birthday was. Ask where COVID came from. Chinese censorship and propaganda at its finest.

There is a rumor circulating that deepseek has been trained on Chinese chips when they have used nvidia chips. Another rumor says that to optimize the training they have used other libraries that are not CUDA and that are compatible with other chips. It is true that they have not used CUDA but PTX which is a low level instruction set that is even more EXCLUSIVE to nvidia than CUDA so they could ONLY have done it with nvidia chips. Meanwhile nvidia shares are plummeting because of internet loudmouths and "digital journalists" who do not know what they are talking about. Human stupidity has no limits.
Please do the interview with DeepSeek side, if it is possible. Would be very interesting to know their advantages in this AI race and see their perspectives

USA is stuck in tunnel vision ...repeating same method other AI firms in USA, copy and paste ...same mantra need more powerful GPUs and $$$
Another thing that people don't understand is that DeepSeek is a lie. The truth is already coming out.
Maybe they got the trade of their lives by shorting NVIDIA, ultimately achieving their initial goal :D

Thank you Lex for your timely, deep, and nuanced discussions with so many of the right guests. You perform a great service to humanity!
If a fascist dictatorship in the USA is a service to humanity then YES he is serving us out a S show.
At the beginning of the 20th century, did anyone really believe that more energy-efficient light bulbs would lead to lower overall electricity consumption?
Some. But they were very ignorant. We will only use more and more. That's it
It’s the classic budgeting blunder. You save in one area only to free up just enough not to net save but to spend it elsewhere.
I use LED lightbulbs to offset the 1,200w power supply in my pc and my 55" 4k monitor.
I'm sure it works...right ? Right ? Oh nooooooooooooo....
Yes. Blue light is amazing for us LOL
