    I like the way that you approach the game, repeating your swing thoughts and taking more club rather than trying to overpower the shot! Good stuff…thanks!!

    That was a GREAT video. I like the "on course" thinking videos. Many golfers just go out there and "whack" the ball around, and wonder why they can't break 100. This is an excellent instructional video. Thanks for making it and sharing it with us!

    Putting is the best part of my game, putter is the most expensive club in my bag.
    I play exactly like this & consistently beat guys who out-drive me by 30 yards.
    Drive for show - putt for dough.
    Nice vid, great channel - love from Scotland.

    This channel Jimmy is what golfers need. They do what you are saying they will play better golf. My student's
    would always say I want to hit the ball 300 yards. I would say lets go to the putting green. Some didn't like that.

      The game is golf. Not long drive. Play the game. Let them say whatever they want

  • @roncarlton1882
    @roncarlton1882 10 месяцев назад +3

    Absolutely spot on in your course management. I tend to do the same since I learned that it is easier to control your shots by swinging consistently. If it requires a HERO shot then I’m with you. Play the shot that provides a good result but your short game can provide a better potential outcome. For instance on a typical par 5 my thoughts are to hit a 200 yard drive, a 200 yard or less to the location where you are most confident like 120 for a wedge into the green. Play the game for par and play away from trouble with smart decisions. Good stuff

    I know all these tips come together. I found the throwing motion, like your second baseman throw to first base, takes care of the "bump" part automatically. When I do the throwing motion I find it almost impossible not to "bump" before the swing.

    Additionally, one thing I appreciate is helping golfers learn to better their scores by reducing big numbers and playing with a plan.
    So many attempt to lower their scores by making 4 into a 3 and 3 into a 2.
    When those aren't the reason they shoot big numbers it is the 5 they turn into 8s. And all the 6s they let escape and have to write down 7, 8 or 9 because they didn't keep their wits or have unrealistic expectations. Etc

    Enjoy the content. Thanks.
    One thing I hope you will reconsider is, the concept of 'getting it back".
    It is literally a myth or misconception in golf.
    Once you do it, it's on the card regardless of what comes after.
    I get the reasoning, I do. But too many other golfers will ruin their round trying to "get something back" that in actuality they never possessed to begin with.
    Par is nothing, total score is everything so a number on the card is there and will never not be there.
    Anyway, thanks again for adding a solid channel to the golfsphere on YT.

    I watched one of your videos a couple days ago and went out today to try your approach to the game. I shot 52 for 9 holes which is in my 52-58 range for nine. I mostly stayed in the fairway but what hurt me was a 7 on a par three. On in three but 4 putt. Pin placement was on a slope and I could not get the right speed. Thanks for the tips!

  • @robertcourt8593
    @robertcourt8593 10 месяцев назад +1

    The hardest bit to get your head around as a mid handicap golfer is that on the longest holes, a double is really just a net bogey and thats not too bad so long as its not the norm.

    I went out and shot 1-under for the first 9 holes with the simple thought of an easy approach to reach the green without pressure. Now, I made some not so good decisions on my back nine and shot a 42 so I have work to do but I am loving the approach; loving my golf.

    I generally agree with this logical approach to the game. Where I might differ a bit is in playing purely based upon score vs. playing for FUN. Obviously, we all want low scores....but there are times that going for the green, and pulling it off, is a lot more fun than a boring safe shot. Yes, you can blow those shots and post a bogey or worse... but so what, we're not on the PGA Tour....we're playing for enjoyment.
