    As someone who has never studied anything and is no engineer after Simulation control I dont understand anything. The only thing I want to do is hold a shape (.stl) into the wind and see how the air moves around it. The only idea I understand after setting the boundaries is that meshes are telling you how small the pieces simulated are and thus how accurate the simulation is, meaning it will take longer to compute.
    But I neither understand what those refinments are or do nor I see why I need that box for the wake flow stuff if I already specified the region where the airflow is.
    When I tried to push the simulation button and the computer said ok it would take months to render I guess. Pls help

    Hi, one question, does the Enclosure feature work only in the paid version? I find myself needing to use the "edit in CAD mode" in order to create "an enclosure" around the body.

    • @SimscaleSimulation
      @SimscaleSimulation  2 года назад

      The enclosure operation has been moved inside the CAD Edit mode. Please refer to this page for instructions on how to perform this and other CAD operations: www.simscale.com/docs/cad-preparation/cad-mode/#create-flow-volume

    Why was the lift direction on the positive x-axis? Shouldn't it be on the positive y?

    • @SimscaleSimulation
      @SimscaleSimulation  Год назад +1

      Yes, indeed the lift direction should be in +Y while the drag direction should be in +X. This was a mistake by the presenter. He correctly indicates it aloud but mistyped the input.

      The Cd-Value doesn't converge to zero, it converges to a certain value. The whole case of the Ahmed body is explained here: www.simscale.com/docs/validation-cases/aerodynamics-flow-around-the-ahmed-body/ and more details about force coefficient and force coefficient plots can be found here: www.simscale.com/knowledge-base/why-are-my-lift-and-drag-coefficients-too-big-small/

      Hi Dhruv! The only approaches we have at the moment are the so called MRF approach (used in this video) or the transient counterpart which is AMI. More information about them on the documentation. If you need another type of mesh, feel free to post in the product feedback section of the forum.

    way to complicated. This needs to be cut down. The boundary box can be set automatically. No need for the user to do that. Far to many number inputs that are not necessary for a single direction of study. It's an object moving through the air at very slow speeds. drop the body in, set the direction of the fluid flow, select the fluid, hit run. The out puts can be set to the max speed limit. for example if sub sonic air is selected for the fluid. Then run the sim from 0-100 m per sec. Then give the user the option to view the data at any speed they want.
    We have a small DIY wind tunnel that dose 65 mph and can be upgraded to 100+mph, I can 3d print an air foil and bolt it in and turn on the fan. Sensors spit out the lift / drag, and strings or smoke are used for turbulence detection. If the simulation is more difficult to use than a make shift wind tunnel it's not useful.
    Correct me if I'm wrong here and please do an updated tutorial to demonstrate how to drop an air foil in and run a quick sim with out all these numbers and definitions. And then show the sim was actually accurate to the real world. Other wise there is just to much to get wrong here.
