      @ABraptor12 4 года назад +36

      @@RexTenomous that is absolutely what it means, when a government site is shut down or abandoned they copy and discard sensitive and classified documents. If government employees accidentally put classified documents in files not explicitly intended for such it would sorta ruin the point of them being classified. Though most of the tests done on this range were not terribly secret, there was even a high profile accidental explosion in the 70s. So the files here are most likely benign and others were most likely copied and purged. Such as the information prudent to the containment of nuclear waste on the range, (against the wishes of the reservation due to desises and other horrible effects from radiation exposure). High profile rocket development pre - minuteman. Engine tests for weapons and space development etc.

    The big concrete blocks inside the roll-away buildings are test stands -- they'd have a rocket engine installed there on one side of that block with hookups for fuel, and use it for test firings to see how the engine acts under different circumstances. You could fire it inside the building, using those view ports for cameras or other instruments, or you could roll the building away and take high speed film of the firing from the camera hut, depending on what kind of engine it was and what you were trying to see.

    The dogs (latches on that marine water tight style door) aren't "up" OR "down" IS locked, it depends of where they are mounted to the door. It's just a bar, with the latch and handle colinear. Each dog has a physical stop that you can see on the outside of the door, that little tab that's sticking out. When the handle is against that stop the dog is unlatched. The "latch" is a beveled friction latch, like a wedge. Notice at 6:49 how they're ALL at an angle with the frame, not parallel? They're all "locked." You'd rotate them each CW or CCW as needed to make them all parallel with the frame, against their stops, and it would be unlatched. You can even see that on the second door you went to at 7:48, where they're all parallel with the frame and against their stops, and you can see how the mechanism works on the inside of the door. Then you went and unlatched the bottom left dog and proceeded to latch the bottom dog at 8:38 on that first door, and since it's basically a wedge, you latched the shit out of it by kicking on it like that. Really jammed that dog in there. Think of it like one those rubber door stops. The harder you shove it in there, the harder it's stuck.
    It's of course possible that it used odd shaped dogs (right angle or some non colinear style), but based on where the physical stops were on the outside that's not likely.
