I've never heard of this "registering" thing. I simply sat my exams in the school hall like everyone else, and got my grades a couple months later. The teachers must have sorted out any bureaucracy behind the scenes for all the students. I mean, they'd sort of be failing their jobs if they didn't.
It’s possible that cause Karl didn’t really go to a great school, didn’t attend school much and wasn’t great at it, in a different time they didn’t bother with Karl because they thought he wouldn’t be worth it
Yeah you don't have to do it yourself now, they just ask you what you want to take in like year 8,9 or 10 and then when you tell them they book your exam papers and stuff then.
I didn't do very well in my GCSE'S either, but then I went to college for four years and did very well and that did absolutely nothing towards getting a job. It really puts you off seeking professional education

I never registered way in advance either, you were just told what time your exam was and tuned up, you then signed a register on arrival before sitting down to take the exam, but that was it, that would have been around 1992, I think they lost his results, because if he did turn up, which I believe he did, he'd have probably had the same scenario as me.
After watching this I realised that I had forgotten to pick up my results from 7 years ago hahaha. I didnt do as well as I thought and didn't have as many either. Thank you KP =-)

This has got me wondering about mine. I went to school same time as Karl and I cant remember registering for exams. I have a certificate from school with grades on but I just turned up for them I think.
Karl actually got a higher grade than me in history, I got an F mainly for my coursework being unorganised and having sat the wrong exam (there were 5 different subjects based on the different History classes). Personally the way I see it (as do most employers and higher/further education institutions) being entered at a level in which obtaining an A*-C is possible and coming out with a D or less IS considered failing purely down to the fact that, as Rob Chilton points out, you missed the level you were entered for. HOWEVER, some people are entered for Foundation level in which the highest possible grade is a C thus anything but a U is considered a pass but it is in a lesser qualification.

Besides, the exams you sit are no more than mere memory tests and the bar has been lowered to the point where even degrees are worthless nowadays. As education has become more available to the masses it has in turn devalued it to the point where graduates are working in factories,supermarkets and in admin roles and this subsequently increases the entry levels of said jobs. The whole system is archaic, snobbish and ridiculous.
And they make you think this because it is true that with good results you have a better chance at becoming a doctor etc which is what's needed. If everyone became an euntrepeuner we'd lack key workers
After leaving college, I tried to get a job I advertising, which I studied for four years, and I was told that without experience, they wouldn't touch me But, yo get said experience they woukd have to take me on. Excuses aside, they just didn't want to employ a novice that they had to train Bastards
