Love this inspirational story. Had an opportunity to buy an OP 10 years ago when you could just stroll into an AD and make a purchase. Didn’t think it popped on my wrist so didn’t purchase it. Needless to say, one of my biggest regrets but very happy for you 😊
Very nice watch. I have a similar story. I was on Vacation with my family in a small pacific island last November. An escape from the Minnesota winter. We went to dinner at a large outdoor shopping center, across was a Rolex AD. I went in with my son to look at Tudors. I had no hopes of finding a Rolex. My wife and daughter joined us after a bit. We were approached by a very nice salesperson. She showed me some really overpriced secondhand Rolexes. I was not interested. She then mentioned they would get some new stock by Friday; she did not know what was coming in. We were flying back on Saturday. She offered to call me back. I gave my number as I have with multiple AD's, more of a formality, never expecting to hear back from her. Surprisingly, I did. Went back on Friday and she presented me with a new 41 mm DJ, fluted bezel mint green dial. It looked great. I enjoy the watch and have received many compliments on it. You just never know when luck will strike.
Congrats on the watch, I got a new Datejust 41 last month & a new Datejust 36 couple of days ago! It's a really classy watch and people notice it easily when wearing it.
Congrats - Nice purchase! I bought my Rolex SDD from the same place, Bucherer Zermatt. It was a much better experience than I had at Bucherer Zurich...they showed me the door pretty much straight away.

Oh wow you got a DJ in black dial?? I don't ever see it on display in Singapore. I got my OP 41mm in Paris 3 weeks ago! It was my first day in Paris and got lucky on my 3rd boutique and was offered an OP for purchase. I'm so glad I made the purchase because after that during my trip I was not offered anymore in Paris nor London.

If you like it. yes My advice is to have a list of watches you would automatically say yes to. Especially if you're gonna wear it, you feel better when you wear something that's exactly what you want.

I'm not known to this shop. I turned it down and asked if they would take my order for the model I wanted but was refused. A strange occurrence given recent availability but it may be a sign of the times ahead.
So those “exhibition watches” are really not just for exhibition only? That’s interesting…. Why do you think you were offered it? Did they say why? Something about you in particular? Or maybe time of year or month?

Was offered a Sea Dweller, turned it down in hopes of getting a James Cameron. Won't make that mistake ever again! AD I have a relation with says he is fine with my choice but we shall see! If offered I would never refuse again!
Cool video but honestly, I would just prefer to wait so I can buy what I want, or go grey. These small diamond filled DJs are very meh. The brand has many many better options for us customers. If they don't have in stock, I would just wait. It is such an expensive watch (in my country it costs several years of minimal wage...) that I would only buy my dream ones.
