I’m just guessing: Open the door and the window goes down slightly. Close the door and the window goes back up. These doors have no frames around the glass, so I’m guessing this window drop feature helps the window glass and the weatherstripping on the roof (or convertible top) to seal properly. I love old Lincolns!
This is where ladies or children’s hands sometimes come in handy! When I was a little kid in the early 1970s I loved to hang out with my dad. He was a mechanic for Mohawk Airlines, but also worked on small private airplanes and was always tinkering on old cars that he’d buy, repair, and resell. More than a few times my little fingers fit into places that his big man hands didn’t. Those were the good old days.
@@CH67guy1 Nice. Yeah, I started off on aircraft too...and its funny that I was the guy that they always send to replace lightbulbs in the lower lobes in front of the dog house (where the nose gear sits when up). Im 6'5 and 200lbs...I would have to take my boots off to come back out of there! Good times indeed.

yes it was to clear the overlapping weatherstripping of the front doors and also to clear the top frame.
Nice. If only I had a removable panel on the 70s cars. Damn hands are too big to fit in there AND see lol
