      Of course! Just got back from a quick overnight trip in central Oregon, the few new things worked wonderfully.

      So few people mention them, i picked them up last year and they’re about as perfect as pants can get. Should last a good long time too

    You should check out Xero shoes and Freets, both zero drop and barefoot and apparently very good for hiking. I wonder how would you like them. I'd definitely love to see your review of those.

      I do like having the light cushion that the lone peak’s have for the trail compared to most xero’s, my feet seem to hold up a lot better on the 15-20 mile days.
      That being said, been really wanting to try the xero hfs for daily/street shoes around town. Haven’t heard of freets before, I’ll have to give those a look too!

      @@joshfenn I haven't tried freets myself. I believe they are a british company, and I have heard many people love them because of comfort, they are apparently extremely comfortable. Design might be something not everyone would love as much, but comfort is usually the most important part. I can personally recommend a european company, a czech-croatian collaboration called Ahinsa shoes which are great for casual urban use, very wide design, which is great if you are wearing toe spreaders as it gives you a bit more space. But anyway looking forward to your future reviews and have fun hiking! :)

    Nice video! May I ask what cap you’re wearing in the video?

      I found it at a local shop here in Portland a few weeks ago. Can’t find it for sale anywhere online unfortunately, I found this shop with a listing but it’s out of stock. www.mossportangeles.com/products/mt-hood-5-panel-hat

    Late to the video but you mentioned other zero drop shoes you wear day to day, any specific brands you like? I just recently purchased some altras for hiking and have been loving the zero drop+wide toe box i get from them.

      Most of my long term experience has just been with skate shoes and things like that, but I recently got some Xero’s and absolutely love them. Similar footshape to my lone peaks which has been great, but a bit less padding and cushion. I’ve been using the xero’s for day hiking and foot ‘training’ in between trips and keeping the more cushioned lone peaks for longer miles and backpacking.
      Chase reeves has done a few big roundups with a lot of different brands/options too. If you know his channel I’d give those a watch too because he’s tried a ton of options I haven’t had the chance to see in person yet.

    Permanent stink- have you tried washing it with white vinegar and baking soda? Helps with my perma-stink athletic shirts

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  2 года назад

      I’ve tried vinegar but not baking soda. Also recently picked up some persil detergent, I’ve heard it can help with the athletic clothes stink too. I’ll try the baking soda, thanks for the tip!

      And Nikwax has a Base Wash for synthetics. That can give you some more time before replacing.

    Than you for saying it! I have no idea why so much hiker apparel comes in these funky ugly colors. Can we please get some normal looking footwear? It's always got to be tacti-cool or loud fluorescent stuff. Damn

      I’ve never been happier to be with my people haha, totally agree and so happy other people are annoyed too. The lone peak’s are functionally perfect for me but I would love more subtle colorways.

    what trip are you most excited for this season?!

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  2 года назад +1

      Tough to choose! Probably between a loop I had planned in the wallowas in eastern Oregon last year, and the ‘broken top loop’ in the cascade range in central Oregon. Had to bail out in both spots last year due to the wildfires, hoping this year fares a bit better.
