It's a way better composition than the first version. It feels way more as a Trails in the Sky battle theme too. You could put this exact composition in Sky 1 battle theme and everyone would love it.
Major improvement compared to the last game's battle theme. Drum mixing is a lot better and no longer muffled! Glad to see Koguchi continuing to improve. Like most of Koguchi's battle themes, the bassline is really good in this one too. If I had to give a minor nitpick, I'd say the violin, whilst a lot better than in stuff like Wailing Siren, still isn't exactly perfect in my ears. I'm very curious how this would sound with a live violin instead, but eitherway the song still overall sounds very good, and feels like a breath of fresh air stylistically compared to prior standard battle themes in the series.
@@TheJbrown60 Nowhere, this is just me sharing my own personal opinion. I would love to pursue one in the future though, since music has always been a subject I've shown interest in.

I agree 100%. The violin is better that the last time, but still a bit jarring. Maybe Koguchi will finally tune it in time for Ys X/Kuro III. :D

a big glow up from the action version of kuro 1's battle theme

Time to eliminate some enemies!!
I said it with the command version and I'll say it here again, this is such a huge improvement over Kuro 1's battle theme like holy shit.
Those sparkly high-hats are really soothing to me
Composition's fine, but I'm really not a fan of that violin sound. I can see this getting quite grating as a battle theme...
Violin tone much improved
At least they kept the cymbals for this one
👍
Wrong.
Ao no fight scene.
Worse version of the command version imo. Refer to my comment there, I guess.
Still a good song.
👍
