I know most people here watch vtubers for anime booba and cute cat girls fantasies but at this point Saruei could drop vtubing and just stream as herself, she actually that funny and entertaining
I think you got it backwards, while "anime cat girl" definitely adds to the experience its always the talents themselves who makes the comunities, its never just a great rig or awesome art, I personally believe most if not all vtubers could just stream as themselves but they choose not to for privacy reasons, while they could not show their faces doing it (even through an avatar) actually helps convey emotion which is the important part, their expresions can come from an anime girl, 3D irl or a robot looking thing, doesnt matter as much as longs as emotions are properly conveyed and the streamer itself is entertaing
She did stream as herself a while back. Did mainly lewd art drawing streams on twitch, showed face and everything. She was definitely not as popular back then so becoming a vtuber really helped her grow as a streamer I don't know if she'd want to risk losing that growth by going back.

She used to IRL stream, mostly drawing, and some are nostalgic of those times.
But Twitch was breathing down her neck for her art being too lewd.
Hence this vtuber reconversion. She can draw for her own model and keep the lewder stuff off Twitch.
