- Bought this gem module from a ford dealer didn’t want to buy one from a junk yard or used for something like this. Hope this helps someone out feel free to leave any questions in the comments.

Had all sorts of weird electrical issues in a 2001 f150 once . Maybe this will help someone out. But I had a instrument cluster that was goin haywire . The pats couldn't program with a new cluster etc..well after hours of searching I found that behind the driverside kick panel by the fuse box the body had water leaking into area for a long time apparently and the ground wire that's attached to body in there was screwed into a clump of rust..no clean metal at all..moved ground to a good clean bare metal spot and everything was fixed.
I've been having this problem gor the last 2 weeks....all my electronics started going crazy... it's gotten so crazy now the lights stay on when I turn the truck off.... and when I turn it back on they turn off.....gauges going crazy then they go back to normal....especially when I hit a bump.....my horn started going crazy too had to disconnect that too

Did you have to have it programmed
TIP FOR EVERYONE I HAVE A LEAK ALSO WINDOWS INSIDE LIGHTS AND OPEN DOOR CHIME STOPPED WORKING FOR OVER A YEAR. SO ONE DAY I I WENT THRU MY MANUAL AND SAW THAT THE GEM MODULE HAD ITS OWN 5 AMP FUSE DISCOVERED IT WAS BLOWN 😳 CHANGED IT AND NOW EVERYTHING WORKS💪. SO CHECK THAT BEFORE REPLACING THE GEM. THANK ME LATER

Yep lol looks like you've been having the same kind of problems I've been having. Let mine sit for 2 years and I think moisture may have been my problem as well. After 2 months of driving my wipers began to work properly and the power windows started working. Interior lights on the door light up but the dome light only did so for a day or 2 then quit. I still have map lights. Also my 4 wheel drive wouldn't engage. Now that those other problems seemed to fix themselves, now my 4 wheel drive decided to engage on it's own. I drove it in 4 hi for a couple of weeks, then it decided it wanted to engage 4 low. Top speed 35 mph lol. All the wiring looks great and fuses are good. Old truck seems to always fix it's self for the most part. These computer components have aged and are probably over due to be replaced. No telling how hot it has gotten in 20 + years of windows rolled up in summer time temps. Can't be good on electronics. I remember 1 year my steering wheel was so hot part of it was melted and stuck to my hand, OUCH.

I suspect my gem on a 99 f150 because the dome light and under hood light only work when I re install fuse and only for 3 sec. and does not blow fuse what you think
Where did you buy the Module? Dealers don't carry it anymore.

Does the GEM module have to be programmed
No, not to my knowledge. Unless it does but I didn’t have to.
From what I have researched there are two different speeds for the windshield wipers and they have two different relays in the engine compartment. Check those for a solid connection.
