He too had a negative side to him, which is normal, but he hid that side always to appear like the good guy. Damon did the exact opposite, he always loved Elena without expecting to win her.
I love how his love for Elena and Bonnie changed from always choosing Elena to being ok spending the rest of Bonnies life being her best friend and then finally getting to be with the love of his life, Elena. 💜
