Man, the first three seasons were the best. It's not even about the ships - the storylines, the performances, the enemies, the angst, it just all went kinda downhill in the middle of season 4 and on.

When Isobel told Elena that he's in love with her, you can thank the Miss Mystic Falls dance for that. It's his signature moment. To send him off the deep end, he needed to be rejected by both women because he was in love with both women. It was over for Damon when Katherine told him the truth. He wanted a real relationship.... just as real for her as it is for him.
Katherine lied to him though. She did in fact love him. She went out of her way to save his life in season 2 and 3

I take back my previous reply. Stelena is innocent and freeing and I believe damon deserved alot more character development outside of his relationship. Im watching tvd literally just for them, i skipped season 1 because i saw the pilot and i cringed the entire time. Im torturing myself only to see delena. Is the show even any good? Like idek, the first episode was soooo hard to watch
It gets better, it really does. It hit its peak around season 4 for me especially for delena stans but after season 4 it wasn’t really worth watching anymore except for a select few s5 episodes
I loved watching every step of the way. I hated the beginning of season 8 it was the only hard to watch for me.
