From the title, honestly, I thought this was going to be quite a boring video, but moments like 12:28 make it so entertaining, I love it! I'm always thinking to myself: "This video is DOS-related, probably quite boring", but then I always end up watching till the end, I love this channel so much! I think variety is what makes this fun. I asked in a comment in the last video what era people want me to focus on and people were all over the place. If all my videos were dos... it would probably be boring. But, with all this jumping back and forward in time, it keeps things fresh.

16:50 I love your Mum's logic here, that closing down the restaurant is easier than using this software to calculate the safety margins. That had me laughing for a good 10 minutes or so!
Ah the memories! I played Friendlyware on our second computer (our first was an old Microbee that my school was chucking out). When I was a kid, I actually pronounced Inventory the same way Dianna did. As for TicTac Toe, I actually looked at the source code, back in the day. There is no code that display "You win" anywhere in the game. It's not kidding when it says it cannot be defeated.
Wow, I never thought anybody in the comments section would have actually been one of the 30,000 people who owned this software back in the day! As for Tic Tac Toe and there being no "You Win" code, that makes absolute sense! I tried for 10 minutes myself, all the combinations and I could never win :P
It came pre-installed on the hard drive of the machine. We never got any disks, so in hindsight, I don't know how legitimate the license was. 30,000 worldwide. That seems a pretty small number. It was closer to the late 80s when I used Friendlyware. Definitely not in 83.
I'm just going by what wikipedia says about friendlyware and it's sales. Based on what you said though... many more people probably used it through piracy (intentionally or unintentionally) so it may have been installed on quite a few more computers.
Tic tac toe is possible, you have to setup a situation where there are two places at once that you could play in to win: X () () () () () X () X Start by placing one of the corners, then an opposite corner. The opponent will block your diagonal in the middle. You can then place in another corner and will win because the opponent can only block one at a time.
Make a video of yourself winning Tic Tac Toe on friendlyware and I'll make a link to it in a pinned comment. Try it out now here (not where I used it but it's still the same): archive.org/details/msdos_FriendlyWare_PC_Introductory_Set_1983 Let's see how smart you really are ;)
The only way you can win noughts and crosses is if the other player doesn't play optimally. Your tactic of starting first in a corner only works if the second player doesn't start in the center. Conversely, if you start 2nd always start in the middle, you can't win playing 2nd but at least you can draw. www.wikihow.com/Win-at-Tic-Tac-Toe
If both players play perfectly, it is guaranteed to be a draw. There is no way to guarantee a victory. To win, your opponent needs to make a stupid move.
Through subbing to various Forex signals I managed to bring in an average of 17% P.A over a 4 year period. Of course, this wasn't stable, some points I was getting 50% PA and other points I was getting -10% PA but my average was 17% which was quite decent. I don't do forex anymore though because I don't want my luck to run out :P
When I first opened a bank account in Australia I had an interest rate of 6%, and at the time, that was considered low in comparison to what it had been. Back in the 90's, you could find banks offering 15-20% per annum and that was considered... NORMAL back then. If only it was still like that now, people would think more about saving responsibly without racking up risky debts that will be hard to repay if rates rise.
Wow, in literal terms that means you were using DOS in 2012... Unless time travel was somehow used and you managed to stream internet from the 2010's back to the 80's/90's :P

The Collings Show Vlog The thing is that PC-DOS didn't execute by default PROMPT $P$G, which changes the prompt to the path and a >. MS-DOS 4.0 and later did this.
How to win Tic-Tac-Toe: Take two opposing corners (such as top-left and bottom-right) and one more corner (such as bottom-left, maybe even blocking a diaganal win). You'll have two lines with the missing middle, and the opponent can only block one of them. This is only a near-gurenteed win if you are the first player. The second player can not win when this is used. If the opponent also takes opposing corners, you can also win by taking the middle square. This is a near-gurenteed strategy.
Did you ever manage the tower game? Since you introduced me to it, I took it upon myself try it. After a few restarts, I got 8 in the least amount of moves after figuring out the "system" while getting far.

I know a technique for winning tic tac toe that always works if the one you're playing against starts out their turn by not placing theirs in a corner. Let's say that you start. You place yours in center. The other one places theirs right below yours. You place yours in the bottom right corner. They keep you from winning in top left corner. You place yours to the right in the middle. O | | | X | X | O | X If they block you in top right corner you can win in the middle to the left. If they block you in the middle left your win in the top right. Two victory places, and they can only block off one.
Once I was in a car I entertained myself by playing Towers of Atlantis inside of my own mind. Compared to many other games it's easy for me to picture the game in my mind when knowing the rules because you only play against yourself. It's a one player game, and you don't have to imagine what the other player would do and play against yourself. It's also not as many different pieces and places to remember as a chess board. You also don't have to imagine physics like if you were picturing a game about throwing something and trying to hit a thing. You always know exactly where your disc is gonna end up. The one of the three places you moved it to. Imaginary Towers of Atlantis, best traveling game ever. Yes, I'm not normal.
I'm sorry Phillip, but that tower game is NOT hard. It was a test in kindergarten for children to determine wether they were ready for school or not... Not to mention, tic-tac-toe is a really easy game.
