Villanueve did a great job having what on the surface should be a triumphant moment become absolutely mournful as Chani walks out, and his tragic reluctance to start the holy war that he knew would claim billions. The music hits the tone well.

Pugh had such a small role. I thought she did okay in it. I read that Alia actress was also read for Irulan part too.

realistically her character should have the most lines but they didnt let her narrate the whole thing like she did in the book

As a book purist, I didn’t like this ending. Feyd was never a real match for Paul. Chani was cool with the arrangement with Irulan. It’s a good movie but some really key elements were just redone and they didn’t need to be in my opinion.

No they did need to be redone, if you really stop and think about it...and I wish more people would stop and think, before posting their 'criticisms'....first of all the timeline of the film has drastically shortened from the book...Paul has not been with the Fremen, and with Chani, for years....he has been with them (and her) less than a year, possibly six months or less...also consider the fact that Chani is likely already pregnant with Paul's kid(s)...then you will realize that the ending of the film (Chani running off almost in tears) just makes more sense

@@koko40800 Nah they made it cringe, like a telenovela, hurr durr chani is mad because Paul had to marry irulan to rule the world. It doesnt make sense, they made her look childish by getting angry about nothing, the marriage is a political thing. In the book it was alot better. Also iirc in the book the take over of the throne by Paul was mostly met with no resistance as the space guild pressured the emperor to surrender the throne so they can resume spice production and no houses objected this while in this movie they mount the ships and go off straight to fight all the great houses with only a couple ships vastly outnumbered right after a bloody battle? make it make sense.

@@joebutler7982 This is the third attempt to tell the story of Dune in a movie format. The fourth attempt if one counts the mini series.
There certainly are fair criticism's that can be made, but compared to what we've had in the past I'm rather satisfied we got a re-telling of the story this good. Some things need to be cut for the sake of time, but I do agree that cutting the negotiations... Demands Paul made on the Navigators guild does make the ending a bit silly. The reason the Fremen army is ready for battle and the great houses are not, is the Fremen can land on any planet, and the great houses can only play defense as they can not move their armies from world to world.

@@lunaticbz3594 In the book, Paul tells two navigators accompanying the emperor to tell the Great House armada to leave. When they try to bribe negotiate, he threatens to destroy spice if they don't follow his command.
In the movie, Paul tells the Great Houses directly that if they attack, he will destroy all spice.
The change saves the movie from having to introduce two new characters into a scene that already has to show so many people (Jessica, Mother Revered, Feyd, Emporer, Gurney, Stilgar, Paul, Chani - like every main character is already in the scene and needs so much screen time) and shortens a dialogue that is 10-20 lines long down into just 3 lines which cuts run time by two or three minutes.
Personally, I think it's splitting hairs needlessly here without giving fair room for the changes that a film adaptation requires or allows.

@@HelicopterShownUp I was replying to someone else who was splitting hairs.
The part where Paul threatens the navigators to not provide transportation to the armies of the great houses anymore after dropping them off on their home worlds is why the Fremen were able to start invading many of the worlds. Which was the question I was answering.
