@@KM-dk5gn saw an interview with Branon Braga where he said that tatv (without holodeck gimmick) was the result of the formation of the federation being where they wanted to end the show but everyone presumed they'd get 6 or 7 seasons. My head canon is that Riker's holosimulation was deliberately historically inaccurate. Riker wanted certain people to be present, because they had served with Archer during the most pivotal aspect of his career. So, he added in 2155 versions of Phlox, Mayweather, etc. By 2161, most of them had been promoted, reassigned, or gone on to other things.

As one of the original Trekkers who grew up watching Star Trek when it was first aired in the 1960s, I have to say that I love Enterprise. Of all the spinoffs, it was the one that hewed closest to Roddenberry's vision of "Wagon Train to the Stars." I once wrote to one of my brothers, also a fan of original Star Trek, that Enterprise might well have been the best show ever canceled before its time. He was so moved that he bought me the whole series on DVD. For me, your alternate ends fits so much better than the sad ending they actually gave us. Thank you for sharing your vision with us.

  • @remaincalm2

This ending works so much better. 🙂 The final episode really didn't need to undermine the Enterprise actors to create a finale. While it might make sense to have well-known characters like Ryker appear in the first episode of a newly launched series, it serves no purpose to do it in the very last episode other than to deflate its legacy and shine the spotlight away from the characters who are much loved by their own fans. Imagine taking a curtain call for your own show, but instead some actors who have nothing to do with your show push you out the way and take a bow for your hard work. In fact it was pretty nasty thinking about it.
Well done John, you figured out a satisfying ending without any reshoots! LOL!

All the characters hold a special place in my heart. That last moment when Captain Johnathan Archer turns around, rushing over to T’Pol, embracing her out of compassion, friendship, & respect?? It tore my heart apart!! T’Pol is so beautiful, beloved, gentle, kindhearted, compassionate, noble, caring!! I would love to hug her, to thank her for being my counsel, my guide, my logic, if you will…steering our beloved crew & ship in the right direction. I would have hugged her so damn tight, breaking down in tears, to tell her just how much love, compassion, honor, friendship, & respect for her! I would not want to let go, wishing to protect her & be her friend. She’s standing there, at this sudden display of human emotion from her beloved captain. I could hear in her voice her care, love, & respect for him; I could hear in her voice, holding herself together, keeping the tears in. I would have loved to see her hug him back, at least, for a few moments. I’d love her to be my best friend. Oh…my heart!! Im crying…(wiping my face…). (Grabs my teddy bear, holding him close, as I cry…)

    • @chuckintexas

      TRUE .
MY take - for what _little_ its actually WORTH :
As MUCH as we LOVED Ent , we HATE how the terminally BLIND ended it's run , and the TOS run , and gave us things like STD in its place .
Even TNG , a potentially worthy successor to TOS (which was at the CORE of _ITS_ mission as a series) was MIRED in the earliest forms of WOKE - "Political Correctness" .
There is MUCH to be grateful for with TNG , but for ME it's UNWATCHABLE , so mired in P-C as to now be something I REFUSE to put myself through .
*Piccard's* 2nd half of its 2nd Season becomes some WONDERFUL Trek , having SHED the myopia that Stewart _first_ brought to this , as HIS "vision" of what he was "willing to do" with his presence in THIS series , a series intended to TRY to resurrect Trek from the ASHES of STD .
Once thus ABANDONED , Piccard came to its OWN as a WORTHY part of the overall Trek Universe , and is among MY FAVORITE PERIODS of all OF Trek "History" .
Even Piccard's 3rd Season is STRONG & has me looking _forward_ to season 4 , and really SHOWS what _can_ be accomplished WITHOUT the BLINDERS of the *PERSONAL "COOL"* that infects so MUCH of Trek ! This is especially true of all Trek HELMED by those who were at BEST "never fans" and at WORST *_HATED_* the whole IDEA of "Star Trek" , yet were given the reigns ?
And the poison that SEEMS to run through all of Trek Production Management , _seems_ to be the same poison that killed off TOS prematurely , killed of Enterprise - again - PREMATURELY , and even did *THAT* in such a way as to remain a BAD EXPERIENCE for -all_ of Trek , today .
For _ME_ - *THIS* is the ENDING that _SHOULD_ have been .
Its the LOVE that binds us TOGETHER that we are able to discover , and that was - in MY opinion - the *MAGIC* that _WAS_
      Star Trek !

As you said in your description the last episode is the ire of Star Trek fans everywhere. In my playlist, which takes more than two years to play through, I play the next to last episode of Enterprise as the last episode...don't worry, I do get to "These Are The Voyages" in TNG season seven. The last episode of Enterprise was a B plot for the episode "The Pegasus" from TNG season seven and what I've done is to marry the two episodes into one more coherent feature film. It's far from perfect because I really need a digitally remastered edition of The Next Generation to work from but I'm pleased with what I've done.

Abrams and his henchmen for wrecking Star Trek beyond repair since then. Because of them, I have no further interest in Star Trek. We lost something very special, and it's gone forever.

This alternate ending is not too bad at all. The original ending I like very much for it was realistic with drama and emotions along with it being a connection to season 6 of TNG at the same time. The only problem that I saw with this particular series is the fact that it was too short. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with it.

When that first line crooned out of the TV I had a mental gag-reflex. I could not believe they made that the intro song to Enterprise.
And when I convinced a friend of mine to watch it years later (he was a Trek fan but couldn't stomach the thought of watching Enterprise when he heard the dismal reviews of it) I made him sit through every intro just to tweak his nose! I also did it so that the intro of A Mirror Darkly would be in stark contrast.
But you know what? After what, a decade or so, that song has grown on me. Cuz it certainly has be a long road, getting there to here.
