    Hi Ben. If you allow me to give some advice... at 3:17. Press the head of the sander against the wall before you start it. The soft start of the Festool is one of the biggest advantages over the competitors. First press it on the wall, then switch it "ON" and immediately lead it to the sides. This way you will avoid gauges on the wall/ceiling. Another great video. Greetings from Bulgaria. :)

    Great content. I have the Mirka sander. I love the dustless sanding. Been able too mix the Mirka mesh with the festool 400 and hand vaccum sander for a complete dustless sanding. Thanks

    I just bought this (you contributed partially to deciding on it) and even though I've seen already a few of your videos on the Planex 2 subject, this one I've just watched. I just noticed something that is not the end of the world but seems to be a design problem. At 3:45 and 4:26 (that's when I could see it better because the light is not shining in the camera) when the dust extractor knocks to clean the filter, you can see a shroud of dust falling from the head. I think that for a split second suction is interrupted by the knock. I know that the benefit of having the filter cleaned constantly and prolong the duration of proper suction is clearly compensating for leaking a bit of dust but I am surprised they couldn't find a solution to have uninterrupted suction and the cleaning filter feature.

    Try using 320 grid for the finish sanding... with that and a light sand after by hand I have awesome results so far .

    Try the Granat soft. It’s like an interface pad mixed with the paper and it’s awesome. When I got my Planex 2 the first thing I did was look for an interface pad for the same reason you modified one. After seeing there’s not one I tried that paper and it’s 80% as good and still dust free

  • @ibarskiy
    @ibarskiy 3 года назад

    I don’t know about Planex2 but for 1 and EZ there’s a different shallower pad to use with the interface pad that keeps the paper in plane with the brushes and keeps dust extraction working

      We’ve tried the mirka for heavy sanding and texture removal, it sucks. The festool smokes it in that regard. For ultra finish sanding the mirka may have a tiny (and I mean tiny) advantage.

    • @FixthisCD
      @FixthisCD 3 года назад +1

      @@ryane6719 Heard somewhat the same but with more credit for the Mirka on it's finish. I agree I wouldn't use the Mirka for texture removal

    • @ryane6719
      @ryane6719 3 года назад +1

      @@FixthisCD Granted I’ve only had the new festool for about two weeks, I’ve logged some serious hours with this thing. We do have the Mirka as well(it’s a year old). With the light and the plug and play ct dust extractor I honestly give the overall advantage to the festool at this point

    I've read that the level of suction matters for the swirl level. Sometimes backing off on the suction is better.

    Do you use it for final sanding the skim coat too?

      I can’t speak for him. I use mine between every coat and final. I have switched to a Mirka however. It is way less aggressive. Much better sander for fine sanding. Not for removing popcorn or heavy stippling on plaster finishes.
