It allows the female to spend more time looking for food or doing anything else, whilst also protecting their kids, it also increases the chance of their offspring surviving in case a predator gets through because a predator doesn't care which child/egg they're eating and so they have a higher chance of at least one of their kids making it to adulthood. All in all if you're staying around your young in a group setting it's actually evelutionary detrimental not to help each other.

I hear my buff Orpington, babs, sing this sometimes. But shes does it early in the morning, and with no eggs at all. so I have to run outside to tell her to shut up before she wakes up the neighbors.
Where's her coach?! My hens would always have a coach 😂 standing there singing away. Being the witness with my egg basket, I would have to ask the coach why are you singing? You didn't lay the egg.
Maybe people's assumption, that the singing is due to being proud of an accomplishment, is false. Perhaps instead the chickens worship or celebrate eggs, and sing when they see a new one. Perhaps eggs are not fully understood by chickens. Perhaps they see them as magical jewels, to be hoarded and hidden beneath their bodies.
They are super easy as pets you dont even gotta call them in at night they come home when it gets dark out and sleep in the same place. They can be left alone all day if you just give them food and water. one of the easiest pets I've ever owned. They do poop like all animals and they can be loud sometimes.

the eggs of my chickens do have more flavor, I don't even need to salt them. They have a diverse diet of veggies, bugs and different grains. It's easy to spoil a chicken when you only have a few of them but the commercial egg guys can't afford this nor can they go around feeding thousands of hens little nibbles of fresh leaves by hand
@@bertsmith5569 yeah! like when the carton says cage free eggs it doesn't mean the chickens are free out in the open at all, and the way you make them happy makes the eggs taste happy too! I loved feeding them dandy lion leaves when I collected a bunch from my yard there so cute!
@@peachartblog Pasture raised eggs are the only way to know if the chickens get to see the sunshine, eat bugs, and scratch in the dirt. Fortunately the consumer is starting to demand better eggs im seeing more and more selection in the grocery

Chickens are so easy to take care of I recommend it if you are allowed. They come home at night during the dark and take care of themselves throughout the day. Just give them food water and shelter.
They are weird, most of their solid poos are relatively odorless, then they have a few cecal poos which are like caramel textured and smell bad, then they have like clear water poos with very little particles in them.
We got chickens when I was a kid. My mom told us that we'll know when a hen layed an egg because she'll let us know. We thought that was crazy. But it's true! Lol! They have to brag about it! 😅😂

Some of my brother's chickens have started to sing like this today. They're still relatively young, and are only just getting the red of their combs. Is this song just for laying eggs and his are going to start soon? Or is it just a noise they like to make sometimes?
they will make the sound when their startled by something too, my chickens started laying a few weeks after they "squatted" if you put your hand above their backs they squat when their reproductive system is maturing.
