- As an artist, you can spend your entire life chasing the dream of becoming "The Next Big Thing" or even just "The Flavor of the Month." Or you can say screw it and double down on what makes you you. There are very few who have ever walked the latter path so holistically and to the same amount of respect and acclaim as British New Waver icons The Smiths. And the influence of their albeit brief body of work, including 1985's Meat I Murder, resonates to this day. Just ask comedian Chris Gethard, who found in them the ability to unleash his own wholly incomparable creative potential.

Yeeeaaah Chris Gethard da best! He once came to my college and taught us improv. Amazingly funny do0d. So happy to meet him and see him live those early years at UCB. Incredibly funny and was so present when he talked with you. Thank you, Chris!
Also think he did something with weird NJ. I lived right next door to Greystone which is now long gone but he would know. Loved him dropping places like the Boonton Elks Lodge. Wayne Firehouse and other places were scenes for their day in the 90s.
