- Santa Marta travel is booming! Let´s take a look at some of the best travel options in the city to find out why!
In March 2010, I passed through Santa Marta. I stayed in Taganga, as most foreign travelers did at the time. I was told Centro Santa Marta was dirty, and not worth visiting (in every country I passed through, people had something negative to say about their neighbours).
As I've developed an investment mindset, I've learned false and negative perspectives of locations are smoke signals of opportunity.
As Colombia is shedding its negative international perspective, Colombian society continues to fall victim to false perceptions of its own cities and territories. Understandably, it probably has something to do with fear.
I don't personally carry the same baggage, so I've experienced first hand the differences between reality and perspective in places like Laureles, Chapinero Central and the Centro Histórico of Santa Marta.
Reminder: the value of real estate is determined by our shared perception and agreement of its value.
This implies that the more areas of Colombia that Colombia society values, the wealthier the country becomes.
The next time you refer to a place as "dirty", "ugly" or "dangerous", be sure the area hasn't progressed quicker than your perspective of it.

As a native man who loves his native land, I am sure this city will forever be my home; as a civic citizen very committed to her and now close to becoming a tourist manager to be able to promote its beautiful landscapes, the charm of its sunsets and the hospitality of its people that make it unique and naturally magical.
Aware of many things need to be done to make it better as well as recognizing that much would be achieved if all of us who live in this, "the best living place in the world" can sensitize ourselves with a sincere sense of identity and belonging.
Santa Marta, next to celebrate its 500 years of existence, deserves of me and of you all the love, care and strength that we can offer, to make it always welcoming and turn it into a tourist destination without equal, "where everything merges because it simplyhas it all".

VERY nice video of Santa Marta! My gf lives in Cuenca, Ecuador, but hates the cold climate there, is looking to move to Colombia for a warmer climate. She loves warm weather, love beaches, has lived in SW FL USA for many years, is used to high temps and humidity. The historic centre of Santa Marta is where most tourists go when they visit because it's safe, full of character and home to many different boutique hotels and hostels. Not only that, Santa Marta is a must if you are looking to visit Tayrona National Park, Minca or Palomino.

I was in Santa Marta in 2005, and was a pleasant trip that I never-ever forget. Santa Marta has everything to be happy: history, tourism, nice people, restaurants, bar, pups, nature, all in one place.

Vivo en Ibagué y siempre que voy a la costa me gusta ir a Taganga, pero voy caminando por la montaña hasta llegar a playa grande. Sam me gustaron mucho los paisajes que mostró en el vídeo, la verdad que mi país es muy hermoso por eso lo amo, en mis cumpleaños pienso visitar nuevamente a Santa Marta en ir a Taganga.

Llegue ayer a Santa Marta, recomiendo tambien la Quinta de San Pedro si quieren ir a un lugar tranquilo y aprender algo de historia de Simon Bolivar, hay un mall al frente que se llama Buenavista. Estoy que me pruebo el Cayeye pero hoy no abren la Muzzeria :(

Was there for 19 days in 2012. Stayed in rodadero. Didnt see one north american tourist Lol. my sister inlaw and her family are from there and they took us everywhere out there. One thing i liked about it is it seemed like i didnt see one single other tourist. I liked your video because i recognised a few of the places we went to.
Yeah, I lived there for 16 years and only started to notice tourist all year long around 2015 (besides during the Summer, which honestly was always full of tourists since I have memory)

Precisamente cuando viene amigos de afuera, los llevo a playas, que no son tan comerciales. Y sí, desde las playas de Taganga, hasta el aeropuerto.... bellas playas, y para todos los gustos (si me concentro en el area urbana).

Los samarios son muy discrimatorios cuando vas a vivir allá, no me gustaron sus costumbres, como turista ufff son muyyy amables y acogedores, pero creeme Santa Marta es hermoso solo de visita, esa es mi experiencia viviendo 10 años allá.
