  • On Friday, July 14, 2023, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, in collaboration with Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., conducted a cleanup operation at the Venice Beach Restrooms to address the homeless encampment. To ensure safety, sanitation workers wore white hazardous materials suits as part of the protocol. LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) was also present, offering homeless outreach during the operation.
The operation was prompted by significant health and safety concerns for both the unhoused and the general public, as many of the unhoused individuals had been using the restrooms as living quarters.
Recognizing the need for efficient coordination among the multiple departments involved in addressing the homeless encampments, Councilwoman Traci Park's office has enlisted a dedicated Homelessness and Housing Coordinator to facilitate a streamlined approach.
The cleanup involved two separate waste management teams with different roles working together. The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, identifiable by their yellow safety vests, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services Inc., identifiable by their orange safety vests. The Clean Harbors team began by sorting through the garbage to identify, collect, and segregate hazardous waste items such as batteries, urine, syringes, and more. Once the hazardous waste was collected, the sanitation workers from Los Angeles Public Works took over to collect the remaining garbage.
In order to ensure the safety of all individuals involved and secure compliance from the unhoused population, Los Angeles Park Rangers maintained a constant presence throughout the duration of the cleanup operation, which aimed to preserve cleanliness and hygiene in the area.
The City of Los Angeles has been actively addressing the homelessness issue, and the Venice Beach cleanup is just one part of their ongoing efforts. It is important to recognize that these cleanups do not offer a solution to the larger issue of homelessness. The City of Los Angeles is actively working on implementing long-term solutions to address the root causes of homelessness and provide necessary resources.
In summary, the cleanup of homeless encampments in Venice is a significant step towards improving public health and safety. The City of Los Angeles remains committed to addressing the homelessness issue in the area and will continue its efforts towards long-term solutions.

This is stealing by these bums. But then apparently you can steal up to $1k these days without any kind of enforcement, which equates to lawlessness, so the criminals rule. Why the knocking??? "Excuse me, may I please do room service? OK, I'll come back later." What insanity... we live in a dying empire. It would be better to just tear down those restrooms all together. We in L.A. have had enough of this. Our tax dollars should guarantee us the right to be able to walk the streets without harassment. We pay for our parks, and we should be able to sit on those park benches without the stink of someone being there before. Very unhealthy. We should be able to use a clean restroom. We live in Los Angeles for a lot of reasons, and having to deal with homeless people should not be one of them. Get rid of them. They don't care, so why should we?

God forbid, but if I was homeless I would have minimal stuff. Oh, and the last time I tried, I could only ride one bike at a tume. Why these homeless have so much crap and so many (stolen?) bicycles is beyond me.

That man just leaves and comes back every time after they clean. They should trespass him! So he can’t come ever again! He has more and more crap every time!

Ugh she is so aggravating! She never helps him. She just takes off or sits there doing nothing. Tom? He always wants to be put up in that place nearby on taxpayer dollars. Sure why not!?

Surreal! They have taken over the entire building, crammed it full of their crap, and are howling as they trundle their train of carts off a few blocks and plop down again. How many more years will they last at doing this? Peace will come with the needle.

They should check those bathrooms for lice, and bedbugs. They should be totally scrubbed, and sanitized for possible staph, and bacterial, or virus transmitted diseases. to

The homeless people are just a reflection of the self hatred the people in that given area have for themselves, just keep paying your taxes, that way at least you can still complain.

These restrooms are totally disgusting and should be torn down and replaces with more modern facilities.
