As a 75 year old senior I play the Krank Formula Fire XX and it has allowed me to pick up 25 yards off the tee and the driver is remarkably straight. I also have an older model Krank which is Formula 11 and it is the conforming model. Switched to the XX as my swing speed has decreased with age.
I have the KRANK F11 XX which is last year's model and have gained 35 yards consistently. Had to go to the XX due to back injury + surgery and now I'm thinking that I don't need to kill myself trying to get my swing speed back up to where it was. I'll continue with these high core drivers.
I should add, that I went to a professional master club fitter/club maker and he explained how these drivers are made, the materials used and why it would be a good fit for my game at present. I haven't played in any tournaments for some time due to my back injury, so not being USGA conforming for this model is fine.

I’ve just found this video because I’ve been considering putting this in my bag as a 2nd driver. I could easily take out one of my hybrids. I really enjoy that Bryson is willing to search far and wide for anything that might help
Krank is actually pretty well known in the USA due to long drive. In the beginning they were about the only sub 9 degree driver heads. They have lots of ads on Facebook, lots of RUclips videos, and they have been trying to appeal to average golfers with non conforming faces, and also making fairways and hybrids.
I would definitely play the Krank driver. It looks really good and the price seems reasonable. The irons looked great also. Good for Bryson for doing things his way.
I have played a Krank driver since 2009. I was looking for a new driver and Krank came up on a Google search. I consider myself extremely golf knowledgeable, but had never heard of Krank. I called and spoke with Lance Reader, the company President. I play the conforming driver and love the solid forged feel. I love the look at address and the feel and the results. Using a Krank driver, I won the Golf Week Tournament at Machrihanish GC in Scotland. I have ordered the new Fire driver at 9 degrees and the 13 and 19 degree fairway metals. I have high expectations because I have only played Krank these past 14 years. Accurate and long.
I was going into King Tour like you Alex, then pivoted to these Ping i230 and the more time I spent with them the more I fell in love with them and now in the bag... They are very forgiving on the toe shots! I'm a club fitter...
I know Krank as a work colleague was into Long Drive comps and had one - can't recall if it was 6 or 8 degrees. Brute 400 is another and maybe KIS (think that's right) but the big brands are also playing in that space now. Krank make a whole range of fairway metals as well
The really nice thing about crank is they are willing to sell any club to any person. As a decent amateur long driver (216 ballspeed pr) nothing is worse than cobra pretending to be serious about long drive but then not selling a long drive club to those of us that have done the work and need a low loft driver. Your options are finding a Callaway long drive head (they make them but don’t sell them officially, you need to find a custom shop), buying a crank, or finding something weird like a brute. And for reference someone like me using a regular 9° driver off the shelf with a stock X-flex shaft is like a regular scratch golfer trying to use a senior women’s driver. You’ll be able to play but with super high spin and it’ll be hard to pin down a fairway.
I played the Old Course with a conforming Krank driver back in 2018. I missed 3 fairways. Very consistent soft draw. Stood on the tee on the Road hole I felt really confident. I pured it right over the O in Hotel exactly as the caddie suggested. Slight draw 260 into very light rough on left of fairway. Nearly holed my 2nd shot from 185. Good clubs
I have heard of it. Becasue I'm more of a geek than the average club golfer. Why club golfers not playing it, is because they only know about the big brands. I had a Krank F11 Pro with a Xcaliber Avalon 5 TS shaft for a season. I'm thinking buying the Krank Fire Pro driver for next season. I love the sound and feel in the F11 pro dirver. The design is also awesome.
Great video! I definitely think, thanks to Bryson, that both Krank and Ping will be more featured on the courses within the next season. Especially if the release the same length clubs. Interesting times ahead! Keep the good work up!
@@swisstrader Who cares! The average golfer is probably a 25 or greater handicap if he even knows his, which I don't and doesn't play in sanctioned tournaments or for money.
I use the same 6 degree LD head. I don't recommend the LD head for anyone under 175 mph. It has a thicker face and will always test conforming, for it is thicker and will have less ball speed for slower swingers, but will consistently have a 1.51-1.52 smash factor for faster swingers. He had the Krank fire glue in 13 degree wood in that tournament as well
Yes I would definitely use it. I don’t believe I would use the 105 plus version but the middle one I would love to try. Would definitely like to know more about the club and what shafts and length they come in.
I would be interested in the peeing when length irons, but how do they keep the swing weight down? What is the swing weight of Bryson DeChambeau‘s irons because they’re longer than normal
I’ve heard of the Krank Golf drivers and have looked at a few used at the local golf shop, but haven’t bitten. I do have a Brute Golf 5 degree driver with XXXX stiff shaft that I picked up cheap as a novelty, and I kinda see the Krank drivers in that same way. I can’t swing the Brute well, so I figure I’m probably not going to swing the Krank well either. Might pick one up used if the price is right and I can get it in stiff or regular flex, but this year I upgraded already to a Paradym and couldn’t be happier with a driver.
Last, I have one (formula fire X 9 degree, club head speed up to 105). I actually bought the head and haven't put a shaft in it yet. I've been happy with 2 other drivers and haven't been in a rush to use it. I'm sure I'll get around to it at some point 🙂
I had a Krank years ago, El Diablo model… awesome!!! 12 handicap at the time, not a great ball striker, but it was long and forgiving. I kinda miss it.
I have been using the same 5 wood for 4 years now and it's the best wood I have ever hit, I also had the 3 wood but I cracked the face and haven't hit a decent 3 wood since. The glide rails on the bottom make it so easy to hit off fairways and through the rough, I even hit my 7 wood out of fairway bunkers.
I played Krank formula 7 a few years ago. Conforming model. I had too slow of swing and I could barely get it 180 out. I went back to Cobra, and got back up to the 200-250 yds I should have.
In the UK America Golf used to stock Krank drivers in some stores but that was at least 2-3 years ago, pretty sure they no longer stock them. Krank are well known if you follow long drive competitions. Problem for Krank is where do you buy these clubs, not everyone wants to go online DTC only. Less surprised by the irons. Previous model, i210 (which I play) was Ping's most played iron on tour. As for the one length, any decent fitter should be able to do that, and I would be confident that the person who did Bryson's fit is a lot better than just decent - I am guessing that the fitter would need to adjust head weights for one length rather than simply fitting the same length shaft in all irons
Hi Alex. Yes, I have heard of Krank. I am a long time SMT fan. They were a big long drive mfg too back in the day. I would use this driver in a second if I was looking to drop a half G on a driver.
Krank golf is well known in the long drive community in my neck of the woods. I've been using an old SMC Nemesis long drive head on the course for years and it out-drives pretty much everyone I play with.
Golfers are great people. That said, we can be pretty snobby, especially with equipment. I am old enough to remember time when, in a state amateur event, I was scoffed at for playing a Bridgestone golf ball over a Pro V1. It is HARD for upstart/niche companies to break into the market with any actual staying power because there are SO many gimmicks in this game that good players will always be skeptical.
hell yea I've heard of it... they used to sort of be the name for long drive drivers in my opinion....that was a long time ago but they had their day...this makes me want to get one...
I had a Krank driver and 3 wood 20 years ago , Also Ping never fitted Brysons Irons . Bryson went to a shop and bought the irons and got the fitting there . from Brysons video he said he had a Krank 3 wood
I'm on my 3rd Krank driver. Love 'em. It could use a face lift and a better designed cover but this thing is a great club. That's why I'm on my 3rd one. I get the new design each promotion.
I have heard of Krank golf but never seen it in a store. Yes it was on long drive competitions. It I hit it longer and straighter, I sure would use it.
I swung the Krank at the range with a long drive competitor. It had a long shaft and very low loft. Couldn't make it work back then. Im not a long drive guy just a regular player. Maybe, I will try the new one but I do like my Rogue that was fitted for me.
I had a Krank Rage driver a decade ago, it was a fun club to hit. It was a 9 degree with a 46 inch X-flex. My club speed was in the low 110s at the time
There is a really interesting article out there that outline how ping built them for him, they really are a custom job …. You have to massively play with the head weights to make them usable as one length
I came across Krank several years ago when I toyed with the idea of building my own driver. I never committed to it because I wanted to be able to try it out before making a decision.
I was watching him play Phil and on the 236 par 3 Bryson said he should have hit A 7 IRON!!!! I have played 55 years and that's a 3 iron for me and as I get older it becomes a well hit 3 iron. My point is: NOTHING Bryson does on the golf course can be applied to my game! And yes I have hit the crank after I cracked the face on my Taylor Made, I bought a new Taylor Made.
I live in Phoenix, and for years at Corporate Scrambles, there is always a Long Drive guy representing Krank. Driver heads are bigger faced, but always weighed less than most drivers
I am very familiar with Krank golf. These drivers are more stable than the common brands due to their long drive heritage. I definitely will try one this spring
Bryson put the Ping in the bag at the start of the year and been playing them for months. Just because he shot the 58 now we are over glorifying the irons and wedges - lol. If you want 1 length go get fitted and you can get almost any iron you want in one length.
I’ve used a few models of Krank, Red Hot Chilli Pepper, driver and 3 wood, the Diablo, and a few others. When they first came out I spoke with Lance Reader, the owner, great guy.
@@back9films, they are just as good as anything else. When I bought the first year model, some of the guys thought it was other gimmick because of their sound back then. But when they hit it, they changed their mind. A couple of guys bought them.
@@Blaaww1 Totally agree, but I have hit some nice ass shots to 6 to 8 feet and they never even sniffed the hole. I've also made a few of those also, but not as much as I want...haha. Yes I bought A Krank Rage USGA conforming driver a couple years ago and I liked it. But you are right unless you watched some Long Drive contests you wouldn't of heard of.
Yes I've heard of them but most often they only are offered with a STIFF shaft!! I would buy one in a (R) flex! Bryson had basically a driver, wedge shot, putt on most of the holes. Didn't really see too much of his irons!!
I've been driving with the hand me down Callaway Diablo Octane 10.5 and the Adamsgolf Speedline Super S 9.5 but just ordered the Krank 6 degree head. Wanted to see how it will change my drive game. Currently sitting at 200-250 yards but hopefully this will add extra 20-30 yards to it.
Before you started talking about the driver, I already knew what Bryson's reason would be to switch. It had to be something with face thickness or durability. He kept breaking or denting the faces on the other drivers. I think the Cobra one he kept pushing the R+D to go thinner for more ball speed but then starting caving in the face. Makes sense in that respect
I owned a Krank driver a few years back. It was extremely long and very accurate, even in the lower loft. It was cheap but I wanted more distance and got it over the other name brands. It has a long history with long drive champions.
He said there’s more bulge and roll on the club face, so on the toe or heel it starts further right/left and comes back into the fairway. Seemed to work kind of like the old twist face from tmade
If the price was better, maybe I would bag a crank driver. IDK though, the flames and other things on the driver just seem too. low end. It reminds me of the pt Cruisers that had flames.
I think whether or not they decide to go into the one length irons market depends on Cobras one length iron sales. If they had some success then they might do it. But if they weren't moving off the shelves I don't see them making them
I've heard of Krank. The issue in my opinion with Krank or any of the other current long drive heads is the look like and the names sound like Tonka Toys. They do not appear to be something a conservative game would be interested in playing. I was involved in Long Drive 20 some years ago. The brands then were Integra or Bang heads. They just didn't last. The face would fail fairly quickly. The trampoline effect back then wasn't regulated yet, so it was all about distance. The affects of spin and launch ideal AOA and all the other details weren't yet known. It was all about swing speed and distance, the correlation between ball speed and swing creating distance wasn't known yet. All of that data was built on what we did then.
I built a custom Krank driver 10 years ago, and consistently hit 300+ yard drives straight as can be. If you follow the long drive competitions you would know about Krank.
I've known about Krank for years. The reason I haven't switched over to it is simple, I like to at least hit a driver before I buy it. They do not have a distributor so you either go to their office or just order it. Since they are not in my state, I'll stick to my current driver. Besides, my swing speed is 100 and doesn't fit into the USGA conforming version. Since I play alot of tournaments, I have to have USGA conforming clubs.
My theory: why not allow club makers to build/sell golf clubs that add more distance regardless of face thickness? In other words, make restricted golf clubs for pros, college players etc. Race cars drivers only use cars that are meant for them. I'm never going to be a pro golfer but would love to hit a driver that goes forever on a 95mph swing speed. Just a thought.
I've seen a pre-owned Krank Driver at Golf Galaxy in Columbia Maryland, a few years ago. I picked it up to look at it, but I didn't hit it. Maybe I should've! LOL
The irons he’s using now are printed, with bulge and roll like in woods. No idea about the manufacturer, but they may be Cobra prototypes, since they make printed irons.
I've been getting Krank marketing for years, big on long drive comps. Interesting that he is using Ping irons with one length shafts. Did Cobra bring out One Lengths because of Bryson. Watch this space. I had Cobra One Lengths and they were awesome.
I have known about krank for many years. I think its well known in north america(any one who watches long drive). I considered buying one in the past . But you really need fast ball speed to make it work. I suspect they have more models available now for us mortels with slower speed.
I purchased an X Fire Driver and the 3 Wood from Krank. They are nice compact and has a large sweet spot. I picked up 10 yards. Both with discount for $570.00

I have been playing the Formula 11 pro for 2 years and love it. It’s the previous model to the Fire series. I wish more people would try them.
I have formula 6.5....it's amazing
regarding the irons i230’s customised by Ping. They are such consistent iron head which is absolutely why Bryson is using them.
Had a buddy prolly 15 years ago now who had a krank. Big ol red driver head and chrome face, looked wild and sounded crazy!
Would there be enough market share for Ping to competent with Cobra for the OL Segment? I don’t think so.
Krank is what I used in 2001 for Long Drive. Love them so much.
I’ve used a few models of Krank, Red Hot Chilli Pepper, driver and 3 wood, the Diablo, and a few others. When they first came out I spoke with Lance Reader, the owner, great guy.
Interesting! And what did you think of them?
@@back9films, they are just as good as anything else. When I bought the first year model, some of the guys thought it was other gimmick because of their sound back then. But when they hit it, they changed their mind. A couple of guys bought them.
I got the x x Krank driver for 80 and below swing speed and after adjusting shaft I love my Krank
His putting this tournament was probably his strongest part of his game.
I mean a lot of his putts were like 5-8ft I would credit hit wedge game for giving him those looks
@@Blaaww1 Totally agree, but I have hit some nice ass shots to 6 to 8 feet and they never even sniffed the hole. I've also made a few of those also, but not as much as I want...haha. He had all aspects of the game going for sure, but his putter was fire, wedges were on point, and driver was a serious asset. I was happy for him.
He also had a backup g430 lst driver
Be interesting to see if cobra carries on the 1 length irons
I love one length irons and would love to have some Ping one length irons
Yes I bought A Krank Rage USGA conforming driver a couple years ago and I liked it. But you are right unless you watched some Long Drive contests you wouldn't of heard of.
Yes I've heard of them but most often they only are offered with a STIFF shaft!! I would buy one in a (R) flex! Bryson had basically a driver, wedge shot, putt on most of the holes. Didn't really see too much of his irons!!
So just buy the head and get ur own shaft?
I've been driving with the hand me down Callaway Diablo Octane 10.5 and the Adamsgolf Speedline Super S 9.5 but just ordered the Krank 6 degree head. Wanted to see how it will change my drive game. Currently sitting at 200-250 yards but hopefully this will add extra 20-30 yards to it.
Well...? Did it?
Must have been crap 😂
Yes I've heard of the brand and in my bag I've got the Formula Fire XX and absolutely love it.
Started playing Krank in 2013 as I competed in long drive. They are still wonderful clubs.
I have a full set of i230 irons on a la golf shaft. The are absolutely amazing irons. Love them! Glad I am an early adopter like Bryson D!
A couple weeks ago he was trying a steel shaft on his driver. Did he keep that?
He said there’s more bulge and roll on the club face, so on the toe or heel it starts further right/left and comes back into the fairway. Seemed to work kind of like the old twist face from tmade
Had a Krach golf driver in my bag for 6 years as well as woods. Greta clubs!
I’ve used Krank for 10 years.
Long and straight.
Longest drive was 378 yards followed by 344 yds in a tournament.
This is a great report, do you know what lofts he is using?
Think he using the 6 deg version of the LD.
I heard 6 degrees on the driver
6 deg i think
If the price was better, maybe I would bag a crank driver. IDK though, the flames and other things on the driver just seem too. low end. It reminds me of the pt Cruisers that had flames.
I think whether or not they decide to go into the one length irons market depends on Cobras one length iron sales. If they had some success then they might do it. But if they weren't moving off the shelves I don't see them making them
Yes, I have Krank driver and 3 wood and 5 wood they are amazing!
Love my Krank f9. Accuracy is fantastic.
Yes I use them they are awesome!
Yes! They are out of Arizona in the U.S. Terrific clubs!
Yes. Krank has been around for a very long time on the long drive circuit. It would be interesting to have a recreational golfer or you try it out
Yeah good point! need to get my hands on one
I used this many times in LD years ago among other Big Bang, yellow mellow etc..
Used a geek golf driver, straightest thing in my bag. Not the longest but arrow straight.
Let's face guys, Bryson is not exactly chubby those arms are pure power. He has worked on this.
The power isn't coming from his arms.
LOL
see them all the time at best ball tournaments lol, they always have a pop-up tent set up at a par 5.
The irons he’s using now are printed, with bulge and roll like in woods. No idea about the manufacturer, but they may be Cobra prototypes, since they make printed irons.
Actually Krank came up in. YT vid about 7 and 9 Woods. Came close to ordering. But I live in Australia and delivery was going to take time.
Ping is solid irons. So freaking clean.
Great video, I thought I read somewhere that the 3 wood he used was also a Krank with a 5 wood loft.
Thank you!
I heard of crank. Made for long drive. 4° lofts etc.
I purchased an X Fire Driver and the 3 Wood from Krank. They are nice compact and has a large sweet spot. I picked up 10 yards. Both with discount for $570.00
Have owned two of their drivers... EXCELLENT! They are out of Phoenix AZ
