I Tested Bryson’s Driver

- Bryson Dechambeau is using this Krank driver. Since leaving Cobra Golf, Bryson swears by his Krank Driver - which is more connonly found at Pro Long Drive events. Is this a driver a regual golfer should consider or should it say in Long Drive competition? I put it head to head vs the Taylormade Qi10 LS driver to see how the two compare. All that, and more.........

Can’t wait to see the video for the 85-105mph version.
Coming soon. 🙏
@@NewNineGolfyes!
I think you need a 130 mph swing to appreciate the gear effect when you hit it off the toe, which Krank mitigates because of the curved club face.
lets gooooo Bryson! held your nerve major props!
That was so exciting!
perfect timing for this video
Finally someone reviewing this driver
Loving the upload consistency lately!
Both drivers are good. Loft is more for spin control. If you have kinks in your swing that day, the you see an issue with dispersion.
One major thing I noticed was that is not the club that Bryson swings. The brand is correct but the head is wrong. He swings a 6° LD head.
Another good video. Very likeable character and informative video. Keep up the good work 👌🏼
Thanks for the kind words. 🙏
Be honest Brandon you had this one in the chamber knowing Brysons been playing some insane golf lately😅
Haha I had it locked and loaded and was cheering for Bryson so I could drop it. 😂
For LD They don’t get to hit as many as want until one stays “in play”. they get 6 balls alternating between each player. The landing zone varies in width.
Just got back from the range where I was “trying” to dial in my driver swing. Last two balls went 306 and 308 down the middle and felt like a boss 😂 Get home and find this video and you are casually bombing it 330+ yards while nursing an injury! Now I feel I need to go back to the range or the gym 😂 seriously impressive mate!
Note: Bryson tees the ball very high and his contact point with the driver head and ball is up a few degrees, so the low loft isn’t the factor.
That's why he has to play a lower loft but I don't do that so I need a higher loft.
Long drive is only allowed 6 golf balls per set. They don’t get unlimited.
I subscribed you because of your drives to the road 😂😂😂 Good vid bro
😂 Thanks! Appreciate it. 👊
appreciate this i have been wanting someone i follow to test this driver out because krank always has a $150 or $200 off deal that i get but not sure if its worth it...stuck by TM well and it can be at least 150-200 dollars less...not bad...will consider testing this if possible...thanks man 👍🏼 liking and sharing of course
Thanks for watching and the support. 🍻
Been waiting for a review on the Krank! Awesome stuff mate! i think it would be cool if when you're having an 'off day' with the driver.. to go through all the new drivers in the most forgiving version of each and see what helps you best recover from an off day. If that makes sense..
Thank you! Ya I can definitely try that or would you prefer if I brought on a higher handicap to test the forgiveness?
@@NewNineGolf Thanks for getting back to me mate! Either would be great to be honest. Cheers mate (:
Anytime. Sounds good! 🍻
I bought one last winter because they had a 300$ discount. I hit my paradym 290 avg carry. I hit the krank 299 avg with the same loft. My swing speed is 118 avg and my driver shafts are both shortened to 44in long.
When I had a driver speed that was consistently in the loe 120's, I played with an 8° loft in my driver. I found that I was sporadic at best, usually hitting about 40% of my drives like I wanted. The lower loft compounds errors. After 2 yrs of this, I switched to a 9.5° driver, gave up about 10 yds over all im distance average, but the trade was hitting 60%-70% of fairways. I am now 64, and I still use a 9.5° driver with a swing speed just over 100 mph average. Normally, I hit 70% of the fairways, and average around 245-255 yds per drive, and I will occasionally hit one 275. 300 yd drives are not in my bag anymore. Find the right shaft flex and flight pattern for your swing, and you will play better golf. If your driver swing speed is less than 100 mph, don't even consider a low lofter driver because you are not generating enough energy to get the ball airborne. Side note, I've been building my own clubs for almost 30 yrs, and I have consistently driven the ball further than most of my playing partners who use high dollar brand name equipment costing 3x's the price.
Love your channel from Toronto
Thank you! 🇨🇦
My first driver was a Krank Formula Pro. I also have their 3, 5, and 7w. They're really good and very accurate.
Nice. I gotta try out their fairway woods.
@@NewNineGolf They need shaft upgrades big time. That stock fujikura shaft that Krank puts on everything is pretty terrible. I put a LA Golf DJ in the 7w and it's much better.
Ya I noticed that too. La golf shafts are legit. Someone in the comments just told me Callaway adapters work with Krank? That's interesting.
@@NewNineGolf I'm pretty sure it won't fit the modern Callaway adaptor. Maybe a Callaway from a few generations back.
Ahhh gotcha. I should test it.
Callaway driver adapters fit in this driver head if you're looking for other shafts
try the krank formula x driver that is for swing speeds 85-105, i have that head with a hzrdus smoke black shaft i like it better than all the other drivers.....
Let’s goooo Bryson!
Great video!
Thank you🙏
Good timing on this video damn
Really glad you had this one ready to go. Had to have been agonizing after the PGA Championship 😂
😂 It all worked out haha
You can also use shafts with the Callaway loft sleeve. Just in case you had some Callaway shafts that you like better than that Motore. Also I’ve played Krank before and I feel like their drivers are built for higher swing speeds. More durable not necessarily faster is what I’ve felt.
Ohhh I didnt know that. Interesting. Thanks for the info. 🍻
Great content
Thank you 🙏
Nice to see the data would have guessed longer and more wild but basically the exact same performance as 10k driver. Getting the shaft fit right seems to be the key for a driver once you have a repeatable swing.
I’ve had 3 kranks including this one. I only swing at 109 so i’ve never seen a distance gain, but it’s definitely got an advantage on dispersion. Not sure if it’s the smaller head or the extra bulge and roll they use, but it’s very accurate
Thats awesome. That seems to be the consensus. Thanks for sharing. 🍻
I would love to see a proper long driver built with 5 or 6deg loft and 48 inch shaft length and compare that to a standard taylormade.
I bought one out of curiosity. It's a weird club. It's straighter than anything i have around the garage and it's shorter and spinnier. I've tried a bunch of different shafts and nothing seems to produce as consistent result as my TM Qi10
Congrats Bryson
Maybe I missed some of the specs, was this a 6 degree that u krank’d up to 7.5? Or was it 7.5 ? Did u try to adjust the loft up?.?? If I missed that part i apologize.
It was a 7.5 degree and I just left it standard.
Good video. I think I would rather hear you do your whole dialog about the club and then watch you hit a handfull of shots. Having every shot broken up by dialog wasn't my favorite format. Still a great review!
Thanks for the feedback. Will change it up for the next one.
@NewNineGolf looking forward to it!
Iv been fitted to a ping g430 max 10k. With the tour black shaft at 8 degree. Anything more lofted i was sending into space, Although i was hitting the lst just as nice. Went with the 10k for the more forgiveness. What would you say the optimum spin would be for a driver? I feel like an 8 degree seems low for my hcp but no going to argue with a tour professional fitter.
Ss 110
Average spin around 2400
With the lst it was 1800
Depends where you live but optimal is 2800-2200
I got about 4 rounds into my Formula Fire Pro and coming from the Cobra RadSpeed, it is WAY more forgiving. At this point my distance is close to the same if not a tiny bit longer. But the big thing ive noticed is my miss hits arent going as wild right and left as they used too. Sidenote I LOVE the sound this head makes on impact.
That's awesome to hear. It was definitely forgiving in my testing. Legit drivers for sure.
@@NewNineGolf I took advantage of a $200 of coupon after his masters run. So im hoping for another big code after today so i can grab a new 3 wood from Krank lol
You called it! $150 off right now. Haha
Congrats to Bryson but it’s really hard to be a Rory fan right now
Rory got used as a puppet and dumped … and the only person that suffered was him, personally and with the fans .. which is disappointing cause I really did like him before he tried to become a politician
Great video, love the data here. Can’t wait to see the other driver heads for lower swing speeds/yardages!
Thanks! Coming soon. 🙏
It ain’t the shaft. Low loft will make it go wild.
I’m an amateur long drive guy, I play the 6° LD (thicker face so it’s a different cat than the pro). I’ve built it at 46” with a tensei white 75 X. I’m a +0.2hc and trying to shoot lower scores over gaining speed right now. My problems with a regular driver are 3000+rpm spin if I don’t play a strong draw and destructively high ball flight when it’s windy (comparing to cobra Aerojet and stealth 2+). The Krank just completely negates both of those. Plus with a more curved face mishits tend to go straighter, not necessarily a forgiveness thing just the club is actually designed for higher speed and doesn’t overreact to little things. I wouldn’t say it has gained me any distance, it just facilitates building speed instead of fighting every extra yard. It’s not for everyone, most people can get it off the ground but you have to be flirting with 190mph ballspeed to actually get anything done with it.
Interesting. Really good info. Thanks for sharing. 🍻
3:34 it's not a freaking long drive driver, they say it's the straightest hitting driver on the planet, it's made specifically for course play. They have another driver specifically for long drive.
Hey BC, In BC. I have been watching Ya now for a Little Bit.. You had a Fitting with The Tidy team.. I was just fitted for the first time in life I am 59 I have an 106 swing speed I am now hitting the ball 40 yards farther, and straight down the pipe.. I have the Titleist TSR3. I should say I am 59 years old with 72 present disability's In my body, Every part for me not to be able to golf good but I still try.. cant work full time but I can still hit a ball.. Thanks for the Vides I will watch them all..
Thanks for the support, really appreciate it Bobby. Great to hear your results with the TSR3. Hope you feel better. 🍻
Working with Borgmeier, Bryson got swing speed once up to 157mph clubhead speed.
Is it possible that you were swinging a standardized version of the long drive club? Don't they swing 48-inch noodle soft shafts to be able to create the 220mph ball speeds they get? I swing about 120mph with a 170mph ball speed and i either drive or come up just short of most of the average par 4 courses I play which are what I would say your average guy is facing on public courses. Maybe 300 to 400 yard par 4 holes. I don't think any more distance would improve my score really with 290-350 yard drives depending on wind, elevation, and roll-out..
Ya I was definitely swinging the standardized one. They didn't send me the 48 inch noodle shaft. These guys swing at 130-145mph. Haha. Bryson is 130 with a standardized shaft. The highest I think I got was 125, 183 ballspeed on camera. Somewhere around there. It would be fun to test the long drive version tho. I might hurt myself. Lol
Could you possibly test the Tommy Armour 845+ driver and wedges?? Looks like a great option for beginner golfers!
I can try but it looks like they are a golf galaxy exclusive? They dont even have a website so not sure if i can even get my hands on them.
@@NewNineGolf if you are able to order from Dicks they have them online!
Interesting video. I must admit I'v e looked at the Krank website and wondered what the heads for regular golfers would play like. For any regular golfer, though, I'd wager that loft is WAY too low, as long drivers generally tee the ball crazy high.
Thanks! Agreed. Should've probably tested the 9 degree pro head. They have a 10.5 degree head as well. 🍻
@@NewNineGolf Or maybe teed up higher and let it fly!
Prob easier to get a different driver head than for me to change my swing (attack angle) 😂
Solid
Amazing shoes🔥
Thanks! 👊
There a video out there where Dustin Johnson tries a shot with Bryson's driver, and he did not seem to like it very much. 😅 Of course, it has rather extreme specs compared to the stock version, but I think I'll hang onto my LTDx for now.
It would work good on .... no holes. 😂
I hit the Fire and lost 15 yards, but it was more accurate. It’s hard to get past the “ting” sound that the driver makes.
298 carry on a hip injury is insane! I need to get lessons off you, I’m from Scotland so if you want a Scottish guy for a video let me know! 🤣
Haha I need to visit one day! Check out this video. ruclips.net/video/Hqp-RLULP8c/видео.html
Also launching an online golf school soon. Newninegolfclub.com if you're interested. 🍻
I have one of there high cor drivers. Great for people with slow swing speed.
Awesome. Excited to have someone with slow swing speed to test it.
@@NewNineGolf ty, if it wasn't for it i would have giving up golf yrs ago. they cost as much maybe a tad cheaper than the name brand ones, i dont ever play in tournaments so i don't have to worry that it is illegal.
I have the xx fire, my club head speed is slow, 75-80- my old driver I hit around 190 with max around 215. my new is 218 max around 230. I hit more fairways.
Nice. I need to get someone to test that driver.
Long drive is 6 balls max per set mate hardly get to keep going again and again.
Still need to have accuracy
He uses the formula fire LD, not the pro.
How does it compare price wise?
Guess I should've mentioned that. Oops. My bad. $550 usd but they have sale on right now $150 off. Qi10 is $599.
Just looking at the numbers a few things stand out to me atleast. 1) you actually had a higher smash factor with the Krank meaning if you were swinging them the same speed your ball speed would have been higher 2) You had more consistent Average spin +-200 on the krank +- 400 for the taylormade. 3) Your side total (difference between targe line vs Where the ball lands) of your Shot was HALF 18'7" vs 35'6". For someone looking for consistency the krank is pretty much just better.
I agree with the smash factor and the spin variance. As far as the side total, the trackman display/calculation is misleading. Ex. If you hit a drive 100 yards left and one 100 yards right. It'll show your side total as 0.. I don't know why trackman does that. That's why I go off the dispersion circle. Either way, Krank makes legit drivers.
@@NewNineGolf Interesting! yea the circle is more useful than that stat then. Might matter if your trying to move your average group closer to zero as in your aimed (center of dispersion) at your target line. Good to know tho!
Ya totally. I had to do the math manually when I did my driver bracket. Added up all the offline total and divided by number of drives. 😅
I hated the motore x f3, way too whippy. Gotta try it with the hzrdus t1100 that bryson had in it when your hip is feeling better, get the real comparison, although bryson was nursing a hip issue as well 🤔
Ya wasn't a fan of the shaft. I also gotta gain 50 lbs of muscle. 😆
Test the juiced head!
Coming soon. 👊
Bryson hits that driver a bit off the high toe. He also tees it up big time.
Those drives you hit are pretty straight.
Ya they were. Would've been better with a different shaft I think.
even the .5 degree is huge with a driver like that.
Agreed! I think if I was swinging faster or had it in a higher loft and right shaft. This thing can be a beast..
RIP the cars on the road 💀
😂
Please test with someone that swings slower. Thanks for the video!
Coming soon. Thanks for watching. 🫡
Correction > only the "pro" and the "LD" head are conforming and both the other "x" and "xx" are not...
the problem is the loft.
Agreed.
I have this driver and I love it
Thing's legit. 🚀
Bryson putter next!
That would be fun. Maybe put it up against the spider? 🫣
You were sitting on this one just praying he won huh? 😂
I was cheering for Bryson big time. 😂
what if you put it to 9 degrees it would probably be straighter maybe idk
Ya probably. I just didn't want to close the face too much. I'll play around with it more.
My next driver just to be different from others …
Do it, do it.
I don't believe that is the driver that Bryson uses.
he uses the Formula FIRE LD Long Drive
EDIT: Still a cool video!!
Thanks. Ya you're right. I asked if I could test Bryson's driver but they sent me this. Probably knowing I couldn't handle the LD 6 degrees. 😅
Well timed BC.
🍻
Ill take the driver. Ive always wanted one
I am actually giving the driver away soon here to a subscriber. 🥳 They are $150 off right now though if you were planning on buying one.
@NewNineGolf at the moment can't afford one. So I shared and if I'm lucky I might win this one. Love the content . Keep up the great work
That’s not the correct driver head. He plays the LD head 6 degree. So, you need to review it
Bryson just said you have to hit it 50 times to break it in
Did he really? Lol
He did. They asked him about switching heads before last round. Said it needs 50-60 balls to get right. Lol
Haha that's funny. Maybe I need to try that. Lol
Yes please test the illegal driver!
Will do! 🍻
110-115 mph club speed, 164-169 mph ball speed...... There is NO way you are getting 300+ carry and 330+ total at ALL unless your sim is set up with the weirdest atmospheric settings or strong tail wind of 15+ mph. 169.2 mph ball speed , 12.5 launch angle = 289 yards carry +-3 yards. NOT 305.3 yards carry. and with that low speed at that landing angle you would not get 30 yards of roll on even a bowling ally
lol watch my other videos with 122 club head speed and 183 ball speed. Trackman is at 3400 ft elevation which is about a 5% increase from sea level. And you can't set tailwind on a trackman...
got here with 4 views!!
Outrageous up & down on 72nd.
Insane.
Sure do talk a lot
I've been called the songbird of my generation so I just wanted to share this voice whenever I can.
I kept waiting for you to ever hit 2 shots in a row, but stopping for a dissertation every single shot is so off-putting...
Ill keep that in mind for my next videos. Some people get annoyed when its just me hitting. So ill try to find a good balance Thanks for the feedback.
I will never use anything bryson has, so the other people on the golf course don't make fun of me

This tells me it's unnecessary to chase specific clubs for magical powers. It just doesn't happen. You still need a great swing. We see this in Bryson's gimmick videos a lot. His great swing mechanics translate to great results in rental clubs, Walmart clubs and even hickory. Moral of the story, save your money on the latest equipment. Spend it on lessons and developing a solid swing. The major game changers are great mechanics that unleash the body's natural power. Clubs are mostly gimmick.
