- Flight LX 64 from Zurich to Miami / July 31 2015
HB-JHE
After a 9 hour 45 minute flight from Zurich Switzerland, Miami welcomed us with a front of severe thunderstorms, hail and high wind gusts, prompting Miami International Airport to close for more than 2 hours. Many flights were diverted to Tampa or Orlando that afternoon - we were lucky given the circumstances and just vectored around Florida towards the Florida Keys, Cuba and than upwards the Florida Gulf Coast before final vectors for a landing on RWY26R. Look at the amazing waterspray caused by the reversers, giving in impression about the amount of water on the runway.
Total airborne time was 10 hours and 50 minutes and then another hour of hold and taxi on the ground until we reached the gate.
Kudos to the pilots really - manual landing / autopilot disconnect sound at 21:48, and then nicely correcting a strong windgust / nose-up pitch at 22:34 - great flight and amazing landing - Авто/Мото
Landed safely in Miami, now the real danger begins.

Sooooo True.....
What's wrong with Miami?
@@s.hooper4683 Every type of crime imaginable.
They went to great lengths to avoid flying directly into the storm. They first flew past Miami on the East Coast all the way to the West Coast (Notice Marco Island on the West Coast of Florida where I live). Then flew back to land in Miami. This is not their normal route, but this way they avoided having to fly directly through the storm into Miami. Great job.
Авиа рейс на Майами очень красивый и завораживающий,красота неимоверная,да и съемка видео прфессиональная.Оператор молодец и умница, доставил мне большое удовольствие,спасибо!!!
Great video! I see these clouds everyday from Fort Lauderdale, this pilot flawlessly landed this enormous aircraft during challenging conditions. Kudos! 👏
Wow, this is simply magnificent structure showcased by these mature cumulus congestus that are seemingly advancing towards cumulonimbi status! The individual deep convective towers are absolutely mesmerizing to look at from this perspective, as well, leaving much to be admired. Absolutely fantastic footage shown here, and many thanks for sharing!
I will be flying on an A330 next May 2018 my first time. I think the A330 is a unsung hero . Lovely plane.
Man has come a long way since the cave, when you think about all the achievements man has made it's pretty incredible.
AWESOME cloud formations...BIG LIKE!
Love seeing the reverse thrust! The rain makes it so easy to spot!
I rarely watch in flight videos all the way through, but the amazing cloud formations kept me glued.
im the same way like a dog hanging its head out the window im stuck looking outside more interesting
Every thing about this flight was so smooth that made it a great journey. The sound of the engine, the flight , the voice of the hostess and the incredibly smooth and perfect landing 👌
The crew seemed to do a good job of diverting from the worst of it. Nice video, it is cool to see the water streaking across the window pane, its direction clearly showing the angle of attack, significantly higher than the mild deck angle throughout the descent through the rain.
Excellent video! The waterspray caused by the reversers was absolutely delightful to watch. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
It's been a while since I've flown so watching this from start to finish was strangely enjoyable. Well done to the pilots and crew for a safe journey.
In 1966, I was on a 707 returning home after 3 years in Germany. We flew into a 'massive thunderstorm', and believe me, there's nothing massive about this. In addition to biblical rain and lightning bolts, the aircraft felt like a carnival tilt-a-whirl.
Oh I love that ride. But I'd compare what you went through to the revolver or ferris-Whirl. That ride pulled some serious Gs. You just had to relax and go with the flow, because if you didn't, you'd lose breakfast and lunch. Not fun! It really felt like you were in severe air turbulence, and the last spinning nose-dive you take on the Ferris-Whirl was weigh too much. I'll never do that again. I also won't ride the Octipus. I actually had to ride the Tilt-A-Whirl two times to overcome the severe headache and the scare I got on the Octipus. I almost came out of that ride, and then, my twin sister, Maggie, almost fell from it. My Uncle Kenny caught her hanging on for dear life on the bar over his seat! I really hope they've closed that ride for good, because too many people got killed from falling off that ride.
I think I rode the 'revolver' in B'haven. You're held in by centrifugal force, and it tilts over on its side?

Thank you for filming this.
Ur adopted
Sometimes i just watch this videos to see other parts of the world. Really Beautiful.
Never forget our chocolates when you leave Switzerland.
True ☺🇧🇷✈
lol. Really? They're that good??
@@keeyonass5127 sure are
Swiss chocolate is good also from the rest of Europe
Who the hell would WANT to leave Switzerland????? I've been there twice. It is absolutely magnificent.
Can the flight attendant be anymore thrilled in her announcement welcoming passengers to Miami. Great video
I wish I wasn't scared of flying. It's been over a decade since I was last on a flight. We flew through a storm. I froze stiff. I couldn't move any part of my body. Couldn't speak. Scary. That's when I really understood the meaning of that phrase 'scared stiff'.
Me also scar of plane
Omg the reverse thrust was awesome
Wow! I think I got jet lag just watching this! Stunningly beautiful video! Those clouds and all! What quality! Awesome!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
It never ceases to amaze me that we mere humans, we naked apes, can build, operate and travel within vehicles at the top of the atmosphere at nearly the speed of sound --- and think nothing of it. Is there anything we can't do? Doubt it!
Massive thunderstorms = welcome to Miami on any given day of the year 😉
I flew though a storm over the Alps in Europe. Not only were we dropping hundreds of feet in air pockets but one of the engines packed up leaving the Brittania on three engines.1964 if I remember rightly.
A beautiful smooth landing amid thunderstorm showing skill of pilot.
Despite thunder storms the flight looks very smooth..hardly any bumps during flight and while landing.. credit to Airbus for designing such a quality aircraft
It’s always amazing that these huge things can fly
Great video and thank you for Not adding irrelevant background music!!
Gorgeous. And pretty smooth for what it could have been with that sort of weather. I´ve been in planes chopping quite a bit while crossing such type of clouds.

If you notice the 2 jets that come into view at 23:28, they are parked at the George T. Baker Aviation Technical College. The one on the left is an MD-80 donated to the school by American Airlines.
It was a very along approach (all the way to the Florida keys) to avoid the bad weather. Safety first!! Job well done!!
Looking like normal flights in the moment God bless all captain they do great 👍 jobs all time 🙏
Awesome video !! Captured those clouds beautifully
fantastic.
also good camera work, so smooth and motionless!
Keep em coming

What is amazing to me is the gorgeous landscape of Switzerland...every inch crops, forests, and villages in just the right amount. I have lived in Florida with the thunderstorms..not fun!
The weather at MIA can be hell especially in Summer afternoons. Landed there many times at all seasons. Often in high turbulence!
Wow, one of the best flight vids i`ve ever seen!!! Breathtaking scenery - a flight trough cumulus clouds... Very impressive! Something great does not it every day... Like the Airbus 330... and love this Video ;-) THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH US! Best regards from Germany, Mister X.

I am glad that you made it through it! These can be very bad storms, seriously, especially around Miami. Sometimes, Planes may land and take-off again because the end of the landing strip is obscured by a rainstorm, in which case, your plane will take off again, and spend 20 minutes circling Miami Airport for a place to land. NO KIDDING! That is what happened to me!
2:07 Music to my ears... and 21:47 Autopilot disconnect Calvary charge
You have sum very good ears
2:07 - That is called "derated" thrust. Pilot moves AutoThrust levers from TOGA detent to DCLB Derated Climb. 21:47 - Never knew the AP disconnect sound was called a Cavalry* charge [Cavalry = horse mounted army. Not Calvary - that's where the name of rock (outside the west gates of Jerusalem) on which they erected the cross of Christ].
I know people are pretty critical of Airbus due to their use of composites and not being American-made, and that is all warranted. But from this video alone, that looked like a damned good climb. Since aerodynamic drag and wing tip vortices have given rise to the winglets, I question the much smaller winglets on this jet. Everything else being equal, this airliner does rattle a lot but it's impossible to tell whether it is the plane itself or a rough runway surface. Great video! I enjoyed watching and the audio is especially "clean." My favorite plane sounds here are the takeoff "buzz saw" and the engine sounds as the pilots flare the aircraft for landing. They are very quiet but you can tell there is a lot going on!
Winglets are sized after much wind tunnel testing.
***** Laymen... pfffft.LMAO
***** I have witnessed this effect many many times and it was not restricted to Airbus. It has happened flying in Boeing, MD, Lockheed, etc.
Oh Yeah. That takeoff, as I now realize it, was fantastic. I love that sound.
***** Oh yes but that was pilot error (_" first officer’s unnecessary and excessive rudder pedal inputs"_). Any airplane can be downed by pilot error.
Nice flight and thanks for holding the recorder steady. Those were typical summer thundershowers offshore.
Nice job. Thanks for documenting your trip for us to enjoy.
I love the reverse thrust.
Excelente maniobras para evitar los cumuluslimbos. Muy buenos pilotos y excelente avión. Gracias por el vídeo
It is always neat to see the plane finally break the grip of the the ground and ascend into the sky
Nice to have a look on hometown with such a nice view!! Thank you!
Eons ago , in 1999, I was flying back home from a European vacation Rome-Miami on an Alitalia B747 and after that long flight we had to hold over the Atlantic east of MIA for an hour due to severe thunderstorms. I’m all for squeezing a couple more hours out of a great vacation but hey !
I experienced typhoon into Hong Kong as that place is famous for that.
What an outstanding video. The video tells a story. They had to circle the entire lower peninsula and then come back to Atlantic once again to make this approach! Swiss cities are so huge and spread out. Very sweet views all over.
Dayananda Srikantaiah ummmm that was Miami...
...Awesome Views of the Clouds and Thunder Heads.!
Wonderful video. Beautiful scenery and amazing cloud formations. Well done and thank you.
Very nice! If you listen closely @21:48 you can hear the AP disconnect.
Yes indeed! It's very faint but most definitely. You have great hearing; this could be a hearing test.
I've landed in Miami in this kind of weather. Bumpy and scary. Good video. Thanks for posting.
'wow' so beautiful state and very nice recorded....million thanks..........please some more
What a great video, and with lovely views. I really enjoyed watching this, thank you.
Nice video. I recently flew for the first time in about 40 years. I felt like I was onboard the aircraft with you.
OH THIS SOUND! I LOVE IT!!
yes that airplane sound. i love it
YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
that's what i call a landing!! great job by the pilots!!
Took same flight in November. Cloud ceiling was so high that we would fly in clouds at 39000 for hours at a time. Smooth flight though. Very little turbulence. My fav airline :)
Thx for the vid.
Very impressive! I love the cloud patterns & forms mid-flight. Thank you for sharing your travel !
sandy gallin?
Hi sandy
I got here only to see the massive thunderstorms but nothing thanks.
Nice storm footage, hope weather got better for your holiday.
Beautiful. Hope you enjoyed our regular afternoon thunderstorms here in South Florida!
Only travelled in A330s once and that’s when virgin Atlantic told me you won’t be flying on A340s, we have a brand new A330. Clearly it wasn’t brand new!
Great take off and super impressive cloud formations! Love the vid!
+wav681 thanks a lot !
+Protyreus HD World Oh yes, very impressive.

Wow....All Credit to Cameraman, Thank you uploading....
This is common for the southern U.S. in the summer. Thunderstorms flash up in the early afternoon and dissipate after a few hours. They certainly look imposing, but it's generally easy to fly around them, and pilots do. I am an anxious flyer and am much more concerned about flying through a big storm front that cannot be avoided. Those tend to be more common in the spring here, moving in from the north and west and encountering Gulf moisture in the midwest.
Pilots are amazing at flying these x
Yes right very beautiful I like that too 😗😗❤
Reverse thrust clearly visible. Cool.
Masterful job dodging all of those thunderheads.
thank you very much for this video. it's very amazing scenery
It's so ironic that the Sunshine state is also the lightning capital of the U.S.!
it's also the tornado capital of usa. just don't have the BIG ones :) many little ones
Amazing....and it all keeps working smoothly while flying through a shower.....
All that activity down below....built by human hands...Mankind sure is a damn clever species....
Yep, and God is the Architect and Brains behind it all!
Amazing what we can accomplish if we put our hearts, minds and souls into it!
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G video! Thank you for sharing this!
Very enjoyable! thanks :)
The middle cloud formation looks like a giraffe head and neck at 12:56, lol. Amazing upload, cheers!!
Ohh you saw that too? There was a dinosaur just a bit earlier too, I thought ;0

Rule #1 when flying to Florida, avoid the afternoon landings. That's when things get interesting weather wise.
Great video. As a fellow aviation videographer I salute you.
At some stage RUclips should consider working with Police, to arrest all those posting false information with an aim of attracting viewership. #Its irritating
what false information?
23:54 pilots: Aqua planning
I love the three thumps upon landing; aft wheels - forward wheels - nose gear
Nice sound on takeoff! The landing was epic, well done!
No thunder just gets you to watch the video. Very clever. Good video still.
looks like they did a great job. fun sitting on couch and watching it on you tube:) p.s. if you watch on you tube ware headphones. sounds like your rite there in seat. thanks for vid
I echo that! What type of camera did you use? It sure wasn't the GoPro. If they could make the GoPro sound as good as this, I'd be very happy! Here's the funny thing. I'm totally blind and have been since birth, so why should I care? Haha. Well, for us blinks, it's all about the sound. Sweet music to our ears, and yes! I do feel like I'm riding with you in the next seat. As soon as those engines spooled up near the beginning, I knew the pilot was preparing to fly through some pretty crummy weather. Those pilots had some experience with them. I was on a flight to Chicago when we got caught in massive thunderstorms. Our pilot had over 30 years of experience, including having been a fighter pilot during WWII. Nonetheless, once we landed, we all had to be checked out, because we hit such severe turbulence that we lost our landing gear from the intensity of the turbulence. We were on a DC-8, and even though the pilots did everything they could to avoid these storms, we didn't have the radar we have today. One drop took us down 6,000 feet in 10 seconds. I researched it myself, and I could hardly doubt it, because we had lots of popping in our ears, bruised ribs and sore muscles for several days after that. Everybody who wore shoes that couldn't be tied or buckled had to remove them, because anything that wasn't stoed or strapped down would be thrown about the cabbin. I had to get on another plane later that evening. Thank God, because I don't think I'd be able to enjoy flying again if I hadn't.
Simply fantastic. Thank you.
What a great departure, taking of RWY 16 and then crossing the midfield of LSZH. Beside this an absolute stunning quality, as if you would whitness the flight 1:1 scale. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SWISS has the best A330s!
Much preferred their MD-11s
You in Europe have such beautiful scenery... nothing like here in the USA. Really nice video.
Excellent video
Lovely scenery on takeoff and beautiful clouds on approach!
In the summer in Florida it storms everyday for half an hour then quits.
Awesome video, I have flown but never over the ocean....and that lady being able to speak 3 languages, impressive.
take off from Zürich with sunshine...and landing in Miami with rain !!!! for me ni doubt !!!!...go back to Zürich !!.. beautiful video whith great footages...! thanks for sharing !! greets from Toulouse !!!
Excellent video; thanks for sharing. Those clouds are beautiful.
They did a great job you don't want to fly in and out of those type of storm clouds were you possibly find hail lighting and turbulence.....
Europe looks very nice in the summer time. Good video.
True, Europe is very nice in the summer months, contrary to south Florida which is very stormy during summer but nice in the winter.
Love those mighty cloud formations starting around 10:44.
I love the sound of these engines !
Awesome camera-work!
