  • Hike along with us to our campsite at Cats Lair from the East Inlet trailhead near Grand Lake. We saw some of the most beautiful scenery in Colorado plus, moose, fox, marmot, beaver and a black bear.

The crunch of your feet was soothing! But the look in your eyes after seeing your black bear was priceless!

Thank you so much for this video of the East Inlet - my favorite place in the world. I haven't been there in 11 years, but used to live about a mile from the trail head. I miss it, and it was great to take this virtual hike with you guys.

I really liked this. Such unusual scenery. and then i thought i saw an aligator, but it was some sort of beaver.

Great video...! You guys are enjoyable to watch and thank you for including the amazing views of the stream. Especially liked your story about the bear. A bit comical I have to say. My wife and I recently went camping and heard spooky sounds while trying to go to sleep in our tent. Ended up we think a human so we can relate. You inspired me to hike the East Inlet!

Awesome! We can't wait to go back and try some other campsites. That bear was more scared of me than anything else but it sure was cool to see one. Hope you had a great time.

On June 20 2011 during the Bicycle Tour of Colorado we were caught in a blizzard on top of Trail Ridge Road. I'm from SE Tennessee, the only blizzards we have here are from Dairy Queen. You couldn't see 20' with howling winds. We rode in freezing rain before the snow and ice starts. It was nice at the start in Estes Park giving a false sense of what was to come. Needless to say we got the Colorado experience on the way to Granby that day. We looked like muddy civil war survivors. lol

That camera angle, around the 24 minute mark while you are filling up the water filter, is my favorite part of the video.

You will love it. Check the trail maps and don't take too much water like we did. Water was plentiful on our trail and we could have saved a ton of weight. All the campsites we saw were excellent and far from others so there was plenty of privacy. The park service does a great job. Enjoy!

How far in was the overlook over the river where you saw the beaver?? Taking my parents on some trails, just curious if they could make it that far and back out!

Nice video! Looked like a nice respite for you two. I can't wait until my kids (4, 3 and 7 months) are of age so I can take them on an experience like this. How many days were you out and what was the total distance covered?
