Awesome find! You are putting out videos faster than I can watch them. I just finished the mini truck vids and starting on the motorcycles. Can't wait to see the 2 Fieros rolling. Are you going to take one to Florida?
Thanks, one may reside in Florida when I'm done. Possibly the GT I just picked up. My wife wants an automatic car but she used to drive a standard years ago when we first met I taught her. So maybe she will drive this and give the approval of having that as a second car down there

When I drive my Black 1986 Fiero GT, it's a driving experience. It gets a lot of looks, and people 40 and under always ask what it is. I can appreciate becoming engaged with going through the gears of the 4 speed manual transmission while creating the crackle of the exhaust when downshifting. The way the road feels inches below you as you carve the pavement feeling the feedback through the steering wheel. It won't throw you back hard. However, it loves to be thrown around a twisty road. Anyone who owns or owns one knows exactly what I mean. That old saying "don't knock it, till you try it" rings true for the Fiero.
Wow another project You're not messing around. Good score for the price. GO TEAM FIERO!!!! It would be fun to rip one of those around the track at lime Rock This might cut into Florida vacation time
1:48 the dog was like “bro, where are you taking my fiero?”. Then at 21:31 the bear comes by like “bro, that’s a clean fiero! Call me out of hibernation when you do the swap.” Hilarious and informative vid!
The biggest issue that I had with my 88 GT was one of the shifter cables rubbing on the coolant crossover pipe. This pipe is made of mild steel for some reason. It developed a pin hole leak. These are a pain to replace because the ac compressor has to be detached from the engine. I ended up using a flexible stainless steel pipe and it’s been fine for years. My ac compressor leaked so that had to be replaced. Other than that, it’s been great with just regular maintenance.
Back in high-school my buddy had a 4 cylinder one and where we lived it was all hills, people were furious getting behind us going 25 trying make it up the hills. Before it blew up...
Thats normal for the air filter and housing to get soaked like that. Even though there is an air / water seperator, it doesn't work too well. The water goes right into the filter housing from the side air intake vent when it rains. That is also the reason that the EGR solenoids fail. They get their "fresh air" directly from the air filter housing which as you can see, can be waterlogged. Funny thing is the "fresh air" is not even on the clean filtered air side of the housing. The moisture gets into the solenoid and then sits in it and corrodes the inside. What I did is remove the hardline that goes from the air filter housing to the EGR solenoid along the firewall and just ran a small vacuum hose from the solenoid and pointed it down so as to not suck in any water. You may also want to remove all the insulation on the back wall as it is a huge fire hazard also. It is messy and full of dirt, but once it is removed, you should be good to help eliminate anything that can hold leaves and Pine needles. That shift linkage and cables look pretty new. I bet that the linkage at the trans just needs adjusted and you should be good. For the rust, after you use a wire wheel, treat the area with Phosphoric Acid. You can get it in a gallon jug at Home Depot for $20. It is called Concrete and Metal Prep from Klean Strip.
I'm going to mess with that air filter, and draw thru side vent too. The linkage moved easy as butter, it has to be the cable. I removed the insulation off the sides and rear part, kept in firewall for now. Haha. FIREWALL Thanks for the info, somehow I missed this comment earlier
Bought a 1984 Fiero 2M4 with 25,800 miles on it. Defective PCV valve kept engine idling at 1200 RPM. Came down to 800 with new valve. Needs total brakes and tires.
Check the crankcase breather pipe for blockage as that will cause the oil pressure to get that high, a nice car for the money though, im watching in Wales UK 🏴.
Careful towing the gt body style in reverse. A few years back I had mine towed to a friends house and he put it backwards on the trailer. After a few miles of hwy driving the air pressure in that open rear pocket of the *Fastback* one completely blew out and the other caught a bit of wind and broke in half. This was on a garage kept low mile gt and the windows were sadly immaculate.
Oh damn. They weren't screwed down? He tried jumping from there and there was no way it was coming off. The fastback ones are square, maybe that's why?
That's a good score right there makes it a whole lot easier for you to put that supercharged V6 in there you don't need any extra harness or anyting just a computer upgrade!!!!!! 😎😎😎
Drop the oilpan and put a new oil pump in it if it's easy to get to. The little pressure relief spring inside the pump gets weak/worn out, causing low oil pressure. If it goes out completely like it did on my 86 Z24 2.8V6, the engine won't get any oil, will overheat/lockup metal on metal..... If the car was fixed up a bit. You could drive on the 2.8L V6 for about 150K until it throws a rod.
I was going to do it but it's not really that easy because it's a type that goes over the crank on the front. Definitely an inspect it maybe put a higher pressure spring
I always liked the GT's more anyway & they probably didn't change the air filter because they saw the K&N sticker. I bought a 86 Mustang GT with those wheels on it & the first thing I did when I got home was take them off and put factory 93 wheels on it. The bear is just browsing!

I miss my 88. BTW, you are going to want to take that shifter plate out and replace those bushings as well as replace both shift and select cables before you wind up snapping off that shifter. Also, being that its an 87, you wont have issues getting front end parts from a local auto parts store. pre-88s had the old chevette front end on it. ** one more very important note! DO NOT DRIVE IT WITHOUT KEEPING A SPARE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE IN THE CAR! They go sporadically and for seemingly no reason at all. Once they go, it will leave you stranded. If you keep a spare you can always change it out in 5 min and be back on the road. Its located under the distributor cap. Also, don't cheap out. Get a good name brand module. The cheap ones are worse and will pop more often.
Also shouldn't you add some heat sink gel ? I think the ignition module went out in my 2.8 ....I know it did in my 4.3L V6 & on hot days the new module would overheat & die. If I pulled over, popped the hood and let it cool off. It'd start back up, I think if I had used some heat sink gel. It would have dissipated more heat to the aluminum distributor plate and not overheated.
