I had high hopes for this car, but MG, BYD, etc demonstrated that you can get this level of quality and features for a whole lot less. Why pay premium prices for a commodity product. It's the car that could have been....
The Bz4X offers far too little for the enormous price it asks. Toyota has failed in producing and selling this thing. Some of the few good features are outweighed by many, many deficits in my humble view. The price far outweighs the value offered by this car. A fair review, thanks!
Great review, however ev is not for me: Why it is not for me: Not as Engaging to Drive, Limited Number of Service Centers, Limited Model Selection, Higher Purchase Price Than Traditional Cars, Winter Driving Reduces Range, Limited Range Compared to Traditional Cars, It Takes Longer to Charge Than to Fill Up, Charging Infrastructure Still Needs Work, High Battery Replacement Costs, Towing Drastically Reduces Range, Very Few EVs Offer 400+ Miles Of Range, In general EVs Are Costlier Than Equivalent ICE Cars, EVs Aren't As Environmental-Friendly As They Seem, EVs Are Quick To 60 MPH, But Don't Have High Top Speeds, EVs Are Part Of The Future, but They Are Not The Entire Future, EVs Are Not Apartment-Friendly( thay can blow), Battery fires are harder to extinguish, no standrised plug, etc.
If the bZ4X can manufacture and sell 10,000 units per month, the sales price can be reduced by 10%, and if it can sell 100,000 units, the sales price can be reduced by 20%. To achieve this, an EV manufacturing plant must be built and a supply chain for procurement of parts must be established. However, if contrary to expectations, the bZ4X sells only 3,000 units per month, Toyota will suffer huge losses; Actually GM/Ford has lost billions of dollars due to poor EV sales. Toyota hopes to manufacture the bZ4X at its existing plant and sell it to early adopters of the bZ4X without investing in EVs. Unlike EV-only companies, Toyota will not go bankrupt even if 10,000 cars a year last 10 years thanks to hybrid Vehicle sales. I'm Japanese.
If Toyota were to take the opinion of prospective EV buyers that they will buy an EV if it improves on its inferiority compared to Tesla and sell such a car, they would suffer enormous damage. They may change their minds and buy a Hyundai/Kia, VW, or even a Chinese-made EV when they actually buy one.
Why would Toyota want to sell these? They don't make money on them and every sale takes one sale from good profit tailpipe Toyotas. Unless you have good profitable EVs you should just stay out of the market until you do. Selling a car like this not only hurts profit it hurts the brand.
I wonder if it being electric means you lose out on all the benefits of Toyota reliability, but have none of the technology gains of a Tesla or luxury of something like a Lexus. Could be a good used buy perhaps, just dont like the plastic wheel arches, a bit Mazda-y

A rare fail by Toyota, but a fail none the less. If you wan't to flush 80 large down the S bend be my guest.
