Maybe we should all take a minute, to acknowledge how far, how much progress Kia has made! Not too long ago, most of us would never think a Kia, ANY Kia, could ever go up against a Toyota, let alone beat one!!! 😃
I think now most companies are spanking the Japanese in the EV space. Not only kia, but a young 20 year old silicon Valley startup seems to be thrashing Toyota in the EV space as well.
I used to drive only Audis and Mercedes for performance but after test driving EV6 GT I felt like Kia is now right up there with the best, especially in EVs. Kia EV6 GT drives like a spacecraft.
I've seen the Kia now in real life, it was bigger than I expected. That said, I like its design better than the Toyota (and the Iconic 5, I think that design will age very quickly). I think we'll probably get an EV6 for shart range/town driving, but we'll either get a hybrid for long range or even still a full petrol ICE.
‘An EV6 for short journeys’....what!?....With the 800v system you have one of the fastest charging EVs on the planet. It’s range from 100% allows you to set off on a 400 mile trip...say London Edinburgh knowing you have more range than you can drive in one sitting..sensible people would do 2 stops on a 7 to 8 hour drive like that...and in the Kia a couple of 15 minute stops at an Ionity charger will add another 120 miles...Why on earth would you need another car, especially a dirty ICE car!?
I am not really an SUV guy, but if I had to chose one of those, I would pick EV6 ... platform ... Hyundai Ioniq 5. But since I am not a fan of SUV, I will wait for something close to Prius PHV idea of a car. I kinda feel like SUV EVs of today are utterly inefficient 17-25 kWh/100 km ... not impressed.
@@NinoPanino I would consider your response as an attempt to make a joke. Sure the front part look pretty amazing, the body shape is most likely really aerodynamic, but the rear seats are the last place you would like to sit - seating position is abysmal, floor is high, bench is in angle and due to slopping roof, the ceiling is fairly low as well. Probably the last thing I would like to experience in an SUV is to bang my head on the ceiling and my ass hurt after an hour of siting there.
The efficiency numbers you give are pretty ridiculous... 25kwh/100km?? You might get that in an inefficient etron while driving like a looney but driving normally in something like an EV6 will get you a much better number. I have an e-niro and have averaged 13.6kwh/100km over its lifetime with mostly highway use.
Surprised based on the size and height that the EV6 has the bigger trunk space. These Koreans aren't playing games yo. @@michaelgoetz7506 the GT is tempting. I think I'm good where I'm at considering the GT loses some features and doesn't get a range boost. But all that power certainly is hard to turn down STILL... it would be nice to not lose at the light to any car on the road really, except another EV.
@@devongee1776 Yup, the GT gives up a lot of creature comforts -- comforts that I really, really like. Make that definitely: my car was expensive enough. I wouldn't have spent more. But I'd still be jealous of the extra power.
I would not buy a car which has a real chance the wheels fall of while driving at any speed. So no Toyota for me, also their attitude and announcements concerning EV's over the years make me doubt how much effort they put into their EV's (ironic considering the wheels fall off their first EV and they had to recall it).
The EV6 is a victim of it's own success at the moment. I read somewhere that Kia had sold their entire EV6 production for *three years* in some markets. That ought to keep used values strong for quite some time...
No surprise you picked the EV6. It's the only new car I would even consider at the moment. A few more physical buttons/controls would make it even better.
After owning one since July, I’ve never had an issue with the controls. I only use the steering wheel buttons for all media and I leave the climate controls on auto and only adjust the temperature with the physical knob. 100% satisfied with the car so far
3:15 That GT Line should have auto flush. If you unlock the car it should reveal the handle. Maybe it's deactivated through the infotainment system. But I promise you that was NEVER an issue with mine.
KIE ev6 is good enough mechancially to have me not getting another BMW after driving it for 12 years. The mechanical memory of how a car's frame behave under load and speed is very physical. so to get a equal or better replacement from a different manufacture is quite difficult. I am glad this option is available and I am getting inches closer to have it soon.
Im a tesla fan but you shouldve mentioned the VERY important toyota battery feature. Its the ONLY ev on the market that offers 10yrs warranty on the battery AND they say it retains 90% of the battery capacity, not 80% after 8yrs like the KIA
BZ4X is “Designed by Toyota” and made by BYD. Like Apple IPhone. They can’t even sell it legally in USA due to current safety recall of Wheel falling off, after investigation they can’t find a remedy, and offering full buy back.
Not made by BYD. This is disinformation. The car is made by Toyota in a Japanese factory. BYD had nothing to do with the bZ4X. The BYD collaboration is for the China-only bZ3.

400km of range with 100% battery ? Thats 320km with 80% and you dont wanna go below 20% since it fucks up batteries, so really you have a working range of 240km. Wow much range, lemme get rid of my diesel that goes 1200km on 1 tank. Insane
The KIA is a winner. Kia have come on leap and bounds globally in the last 5 to 8 years. Quality, practicality and reliability 👌👏smart buys for families!
Too bad, the western markets don’t allow Chinese EV cars since the old manufactures just can’t compete with them technology- and price-wise that is why Merc, bmw, VW are losing in the Chinese market badly, Chinese EV manufacturers are far ahead and the best engineers from the whole world are working for them.
Toyota they know how to launch product it doesn't have to be great but customer will wait and pay for it anyway. And other manufacturers hardly outsold Toyota anyway. No matter reviewer say how great KIA is, but in their mind, they would prefer to own Toyota rather than owning a KIA.
I cant believe given all the excitement of battery power and some good car designs (EV6 / Ioniq 5) that Toyota have built another generic, bland box for the road. Where the hell are the design thinkers??!!! . EV6 is a way more emotive design. Its telling us that Kia is going somewhere, unlike Toyota who have indicated that theyre simply stuck where theyve been for the last 30yrs with their uninspiring family car designs. Such a missed opportunity.
Bro calm down it Toyotas first electric car plus Mat forgot to mention that the bz4x uses a different battery that doesn't suddenly heat up an catch in fire, is smaller and can bring back some pretty good range compared to normal batteries. This car wasn't exactly intended for style but for its internal battery, which other manufacturers are planning to use in 2030 because they are still working the kinks, but Toyota already has so at least consider that before you write an essay talking shit about them.
Toyota makes cars for people who don't care about driving pleasure or features. It's only for people who want to go from point A to B. Kia on the other hand makes cars that are fun to drive, are full of tech and are great value for money too.
@@mohammedafeef8184 we really talking about how Toyota are using a physically smaller battery? And this somehow dictates the design?. Do Toyota want to sell cars?. At least, kia ev's wheel doesn't come out of the body while driving. 😂 All kia/hyundai issues were about engine/transmission of 5-15 years old gdi but EV doesn't use them at all. So there is no reason to underevalute them than Toyota in the EV world.
Toyota has advantages price wise and height wise. In terms of range there isn’t much between the two. I prefer Toyota’s front compared to Kia. I think apart from plastic cladding there isn’t much wrong with the car. It would come down to individual preference what they are looking for.
Jokes aside, being extremely conservative brand comes back to kick Toyota in the ass -- they banked on being "reliable" while selling cars that are 1-2 gen behind, but now that it came to innovate and move from tried and true drivetrains -- they are way behind. I used to like Toyota before I realized that they are just selling the old new cars...
Seriously. I used to be a die-hard Subaru fan, but my last four vehicles have been Hyundai and Kia. Easily the most reliable cars I've ever owned. And the EV6 is simply amazing.
Its going to go the way of the smartphone. Barely anyone buys the sony and most buy the samsung. South korea will be very strong with evs and hopefully some sort of collaborations with the americans in the software side.
For me - months ago - it was a toss up between the EV6 and Ioniq5. Went Ioniq because the boot is a lot bigger due to its shape, and the rear seats were more versatile. But the EV6 looks so much better, and I also hear more efficient. Glad I didn't wait for the Toyota.
IKR!!! The Model Y in the US starts at $65,990!!! For that, you get a subpar “minimalist” (aka we were too cheap to hire a proper interior designer) interior with only 318 miles of range. The Model 3 even starts at $46,990 with only 267 miles of range and again with the subpar interior.
Exactly. If you want the more comfortable cruiser, it is the Toyota. If you want more performance and sport, it's the Kia. I feel like Toyota has the edge in build quality as well (body solidity).
In Sweden we get the 11 kw charger with the Toyota. Still , it’s bad that Toyota didn’t make a better product that is more comparable with the Kia. If it had come out 2 years earlier, it might have been a contender, but it came out 2 years later, when everybody else had moved on :-( Kia as a brand take EVs VERY seriously. And do promote them. My local dealer is very enthusiastic about EVs (unlike some), and has really bought into the life-style change, which running an EV is. Toyota. . . . . Oh Dear :-(. It wants to be "All things to all men." And will fail. The last time I saw this much Flip-Flopping was on a just landed fish. That did not get thrown back. 'Nuff Said. There are many much more learned folks out there, on the subject of Car OEMs, than me, who honestly wonder if Toyota will still be around in 10 years time. I have my doubts. If they are, it will be because the Japanese Government regards them as "To Big To Fail" and bails them out. Where other Companies are moving over to BEVs by choice, Toyota will be dragged kicking and screaming. They will do it half-heartedly, fall behind everybody else, and limp into obscurity, (like so many old British Car Companies), or sack most of their management Board and reinvent themselves. I hope they do, as they have some great design potential, (look at the iRoad, that they are NOT going to put into production), but management heads are not so much buried in the sand, as stuck up their own 'fundament.' Would I change my EV6 for a BZ4X ? Even though the dealer is 10 miles closer, and on my to work, not a chance.

@@pyoshmusic bz4X is overrated in my opinion.
@@purwantiallan5089 How can it be overrated when nobody likes it?
Hate the way Toyota add big ugly arch trims to their car, especially square trims.
@@purwantiallan5089 Yeah I think so too. If they didn't just slap the plastic panels so it doesn't look bulky(and minor issue of hard naming) I think is is a good car.
Surely it's the EV6 since it's more likely to have all 4 wheels at the end of a journey?
Yep. It has 4wd.
Ouch! LOL
@@purwantiallan5089 He was joking about the Toyota/Subaru EV recall related to the wheels potentially (and literally) falling off. That didn't affect any cars actually in the hands of customers.
To put this in some perspective - That Kia is less than 2/10ths of a second off the 0-60 time of the Sport Classic 911 Mat tested a couple videos ago.
EVs are so damn quick
Are you a genius?
And the EV6 GT claims 3.5...
Your point on EVs is true, although to be fair he didn't even launch that Porsche, he just set off quite normally. That Porsche can do much much better.
2/10th? you mean 1/5th, or even better 0.2
The wheels of Toyota's electrical cars come off the cars. What a deep disgrace!
I think you forgot the baby seat in kia’s back seat that’s why it didn’t fold the seat
I feel like Toyota and Honda has been slacking compared to Hyundai and Kia. Even their luxury brand like Lexus and Acura is slacking.
I have a new 2022 Hyundai Elantra and one of my friend has the new 2022 Lexus UX200 and oh boi. The amount of techs and interior design in just a low to mid end Hyundai is way more and so much better than in a mid end luxury car.
This is freaking AMD and Intels all over again lol
Toyota is embaressing themselves. Kia and Hyundai have stolen their thunder for a couple years now. Toyota has a niche gem from time to time (like the Yaris GR), but even there they are not alone (The i20N is a good looking and capable micro-hothatch).
after all, this BZ4X is actually a project from BYD (chinese brand) but it is borne by toyota that's why there are a lot of leaked photos from China, because toyota still doesn't really want to go into EV, they still focus on hybrid and leave diesel
The i20N is clapped m8. That’s why no one even buys the normal i20 anymore
Definitively kia ev6 lovely design and stunning technology...
Does anyone know if its fake or not?
@@stepanbest9736 it's fake you dont gotta be a rocket engineer to know it
I’ll have the car where the wheels stay on. That’ll be the
Kia then.
The Kia ev6 is beautiful,I'd choose it hands down, only problem is it's expensive, well out my price range, so have just ordered the ford puma st in mean green, maybe a few years time I go electric when the charging network is much better an ev prices are more affordable 👌👍🏴
Range is atrocious though, that's what prompted me to go with a Tesla M3P instead of the EV6.
Come on a Kia vs an Audi e-Tron or Mercedes EQ really?
Also the wheels don't fall off of the Kia and that's always a plus.
Wow, such an original comment.
Everyone who sees this comment I hope you have a great day
I've seen the Kia now in real life, it was bigger than I expected. That said, I like its design better than the Toyota (and the Iconic 5, I think that design will age very quickly). I think we'll probably get an EV6 for shart range/town driving, but we'll either get a hybrid for long range or even still a full petrol ICE.
I wish you well in overcoming the sharts.
Consider Ioniq 6
@@stijnhsEV6 is anywhere close to efficiency of Nero.
And if you read my comment it was generalized, not primarily targeting EV6.
Surprised based on the size and height that the EV6 has the bigger trunk space.
These Koreans aren't playing games yo. The EV6 went on sale 2 years before this Toyota did and they're still better at damn near everything lol. I could be biased. I do own one. But this wasn't out to cross shop when I got my EV6 and really none of the EVs that've come out since are making me jealous lol. They don't look as cool and they don't charge as fast, for the money.
You're not biased, the EV6 is awsome and no, I don't owe 1
I have one too, and there's nothing out there currently, or that I know of in the future, that makes me regret my purchase. Except maybe the upcoming EV6 GT. :)
If the GT was available back in February, and I had the extra $$$, I probably would have still bought the GT-Line (that's the top spec in the US, other than the not-available-yet GT). Make that definitely: my car was expensive enough. I wouldn't have spent more. But I'd still be jealous of the extra power.
Honestly i think Kia is the one of the best car right now
I would not buy a car which has a real chance the wheels fall of while driving at any speed. So no Toyota for me, also their attitude and announcements concerning EV's over the years make me doubt how much effort they put into their EV's (ironic considering the wheels fall off their first EV and they had to recall it).
The EV6 is a magnificent piece of engineering and design. Kia would sell shit loads of'em if only they could be delivered!
Isn't it. They really made a winner, like you said, they need to ramp up production because they are selling!
Another critical difference is Toyota uses Chinese battery & motor
Hyundai/Kia is the new king in the EV era

Indeed.
Kia is not 73, but 77 kWh.
BZ4X is “Designed by Toyota” and made by BYD. Like Apple IPhone.
They can’t even sell it legally in USA due to current safety recall of Wheel falling off, after investigation they can’t find a remedy, and offering full buy back.

The KIA is a winner. Kia have come on leap and bounds globally in the last 5 to 8 years. Quality, practicality and reliability 👌👏smart buys for families!
It seems Japanese automakers are seriously left behind at EV sector. And it may take a long time for them to catch up with those front runners.
Too bad, the western markets don’t allow Chinese EV cars since the old manufactures just can’t compete with them technology- and price-wise that is why Merc, bmw, VW are losing in the Chinese market badly, Chinese EV manufacturers are far ahead and the best engineers from the whole world are working for them.
isn’t it 77kwh battery in kia
Toyota they know how to launch product it doesn't have to be great but customer will wait and pay for it anyway.
And other manufacturers hardly outsold Toyota anyway.
No matter reviewer say how great KIA is, but in their mind, they would prefer to own Toyota rather than owning a KIA.
EV6. Looks better inside and out.
At this stage no one cares about battery size, its too early for it to make any reasonable difference. Look at it with its even sillier name. I think we need to focus on the motor power as well. Kia uses a stronger motor, but it goes a similar distance.

How cheap the Kia EV6 and the Toyota bZ4X are when comparing with a Tesla!
I know, right? The Model Y is overpriced. It's closer in price to the next segment up (Jaguar I-Pace, Audi E-tron SUV, etc).
IKR!!! The Model Y in the US starts at $65,990!!! For that, you get a subpar “minimalist” (aka we were too cheap to hire a proper interior designer) interior with only 318 miles of range. The Model 3 even starts at $46,990 with only 267 miles of range and again with the subpar interior.
There is no definitive answer. Those who prefer the Toyota will buy that, and those who prefer the Kia will end up driving it instead......
Exactly. If you want the more comfortable cruiser, it is the Toyota. If you want more performance and sport, it's the Kia. I feel like Toyota has the edge in build quality as well (body solidity).
I'll take the Kia but with the Toyota's backseat space and doorhandles. Everything else is perfect on the Kia ev6

In Sweden we get the 11 kw charger with the Toyota. Still , it’s bad that Toyota didn’t make a better product that is more comparable with the Kia. I still chose it over the competition for the clearance in country roads, my family also found it more spacious, specially in the rear row, it’s also more comfortable for the elderly who can sit higher in the Toyota compared to the Kia.

We ran 2 Prius, a Mk 2 and one of the first PHEVs. Great cars. If they produced a BEV Prius, I would have been interested. But they didn't.
Replaced it with a Kia eNero when they first came out, followed by an EV6, that is now almost 2 years old.
BZ4X. ? Hmmmm. If it had come out 2 years earlier, it might have been a contender, but it came out 2 years later, when everybody else had moved on :-(
Kia as a brand take EVs VERY seriously.
I hope they do, as they have some great design potential, (look at the iRoad, that they are NOT going to put into production), but management heads are not so much buried in the sand, as stuck up their own 'fundament.'
Would I change my EV6 for a BZ4X ? Even though the dealer is 10 miles closer, and on my to work, not a chance.
