We have 2 Bz4x in our businessfleet, alongside Tesla's.
The Toyota is nearly as efficiënt, more comfortable and has a far better warranty on batteries..... . It lacks dome range, but not much. The car had some software updates in 23 and 24. Acrually a far better car than the press wants you to believe.....

100% agree. We bought a used 2023 BZ4X at an amazing price. The Limited trim model has all the luxury of our Lexus. I really don't understand the lukewarm reviews...we love ours.

The lack of a glove box wasn't a "miss" it was removed by design
Because they included radiant heaters for both driver and passenger
While the BZ4X also has an efficient heat pump (that you also didn't mention) these radiant heaters are an innovative feature, and work very well.

    The Toyota Playbook:
Step 1: spend all the money on lobbying against EVs and for Hydrogen and petrol.
Step 2: panic that everyone is starting to buy EVs en masse, make an underperforming EV and price it like it’s market leading for…reasons?
    Step 3: sell

The AWD model starts at $80,866 drive away, about $25,000 more than is should be, Scratchy plastics, no glovebox, mediocre interior, drivers display looks like something from 1990, average performance for $80K, poor range, Toyota is guaranteed to sell hardly any.

@@Djnosey97 True, but $80K is an awful lot of money for brand loyalty on a lackluster vehicle, let the fanboys buy it, resale value will plummet quicker than a ten ton concrete block, it will be worth nothing in two years, Toyota should just stick to Hybrids, leave the electric vehicles to those who know how to make them.

Have you looked at comparable vehicle price’s lately? Toyota may not have the “perceived” quality of others, but they are certainly leaps ahead in reliability and cost of ownership… and that means fantastic resale value and almost no down time.
Think of it like an actual investment… and it makes irrefutable sense. Loan, lease or outright purchase… the cost of ownership, no downtime and resale value are why Toyota are so successful.

This may certainly be the case with internal combustion engines, but not with electric vehicles.
Toyota does not have battery technology. They use cheap Chinese batteries, so they are not reliable or valuable.
Also, because they focused all their energy on hybrids, they did not have electric vehicle technology.
For that reason, the BZ4X was immediately recalled and refunded due to a defect in the wheels falling off upon release.
Missing wheels mean that Toyota has not completed complete quality testing and design verification through a separate process from the existing internal combustion engine.
In addition, the BZ4X is very expensive compared to its quality. This is simply because Toyota does not have a production line dedicated to electric vehicles, so it is expensive despite the cheap materials and quality, not because the product is great.
Yes, in the eyes of electric car manufacturers, the BZ4X is nothing but trash. Still, it is more expensive than normal products.
This is nothing more than a fraudulent act that deceives customers by taking advantage of the reliability shown by Toyota. People just like you.

This car will keep driving forever, Toyota quality cannot be beat. Their first all electric is the 2014 Rav 4 with owners saying still run just as well years later. just placed a deposit for a 2024 bz4x model. Toyota is interested in preservation of battery over quick charge and their testing takes years and years. No other manufacturer is offering 8 years or 100k miles warranty on the battery.

Toyota believes that the battery is not yet perfected, so it is researching and developing all solid-state batteries, as well as many alternatives, including hydrogen-based fuel cells (the catalyst, platinum, is expensive), hydrogen-burning engines, ammonia-burning engines, and others. After all, they are rich, so they can spend on development in all areas.

  • @catbert7

Calling this a good EV, or saying there is any comparison to Tesla, is a JOKE! Here's a GENEROUS comparison to the Tesla Model 3 LR RWD: BZ4X (depending on trim) has the same cargo capacity, 111-119 miles less range, 20-30% slower charging, no rear screen, $900 higher average 10-year maintenance/repair cost (by brand), 3-8 fewer speakers, 1-3 fewer subs, 1 fewer amp, general warranty covers 1 year/14k miles less, drivetrain warranty covers 3 years/60k miles less, slower, no FSD, all for $10k HIGHER price... Completely insane 🤣 And if you really need SUV clearance, the comparison to the Model Y is similar, just with way more cargo space and no rear screen and worse audio (since MY hasn't yet been updated).

The one caveat is that here's a HUGE disparity between the buy and lease prices and I can't make sense of it. The lease prices on the Toyota website look great - better than Tesla - but then I look at any of the advertised dealer leases and they're 60-100% higher and say they require $20k down-payment! WtF is this?

Batteries equiped in EVs manufactured in Japan by Toyota, Nissan, and Honda are Panasonic and GS-Yuasa and have yet to cause a single fire accident in Japan.
17th August 2024 Early reports described " Tesla " catching fire, which destroyed over 200 vehicles
The fire that broke out early yesterday evening in the car park of a car rental company near Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado airport, destroyed more than 200 vehicles before being extinguished and was being reported in the early stages as having begun in a " Tesla "brand of electric car.
