Do Throttle Controllers Actually Make Your Car Faster?? In my previous video installing the Ultimate 9 USA Throttle Controller on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee (video linked below) many people asked me to do a 0-60 speed test after adding the throttle controller to the Jeep.... so here it is! The results surprised me a bit actually and I'd love to know how it compares to yours if you have the pedal commander or a different brand.

For what a read for Jeeps.. Pedal Commander is the best. You have many modes to choose from. Eliminates that lag or hesitation so your vehicle is instant and uses every bit of horsepower your engine makes. It wakes it up!! I need to one to wake up my Hemi!!! 🇺🇸🐻🇺🇸
So far I like the one I have... we'll see over time how it holds up.
@@BJPLIFESTYLE .. sounds like a good plan. Your doing a great job. Keep it up. But if you get a 392 Hemi in the future it's a hand full🌝! 🐻🇺🇸
I'd like to mention if you do more research, you will find they fail and cause all sorts of issues after a while, I know cause after a year or so it failed on my 2016 KL Jeep and set off all sorts of lights and codes! hopefully this unit doesn't and seems to have a better warranty.
I have one of these for my 21 Bronco and it totally makes it more responsive and fun to drive. Mines the manual so I can really get into it and use the rpm’s to race around. Ultimate 9 makes a great product
I can see how these would be insanely fun on a manual 😂
Has anyone compared the throttle response boost app on OBDEleven with a dedicated throttle response controller? Do they do the same thing? I am getting an OBDEleven soon for my S5, and I am unsure if I need a controller for the squishy throttle lag S5s are somewhat notorious for.
the only acceleration it improves is clearly when you're already going like 30-50 and want to get up to speed, that's where the difference is... on my car even if I plant my foot down it'll accelerate after GTA 6 comes out, but this device made it a totally different car
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thank you very much, please try pedal commander
Seems like possibility is best with after market parts? Bolt ons? Almost like a idle relearn
It's not adding any Hp but certainly makes it seem quicker since it deletes the lag...love mine
I love it for everyday driving for sure!
“Deletes the lag” give me a break lol
@@bradbozarth3235 it does help get rid of the lag, that's the part of the device. Makes throttle how it used to be
@@bradbozarth3235that’s literally what it does lmao
@@bradbozarth3235 if you had a car you would know what throttle lag is….
Hi, I like your videos a lot and I am a subscriber because it helps me and others, if you don't mind can you give feedback regarding safety issues, My question is what if the throttle controller's device suddenly fails? or was the little wire accidentally cut? Do we still have the control of gas pedal, especially on the highway? or it will be back to normal mode? Thank you for hoping you can enlighten us. thank you again!
if it gets unplugged or disconnected it goes back to regular pedal response. no effects with the engine and nothing gets damaged if it messes up
@@hiddenf10 thank you! YOU ARE THE BEST!
I have one on my 2020'JGC Trailhawk. It does eliminate the lag, but it also seems to have affected, read worsened, my mpgs.
It's gone from 20 mpgs on the highway to about 17-18 on the same stretch and under same climatic conditions.
funny enough, that’s the point of the lag. to save petrol
Put it on eco mode
Because it doesn't add any power, it's as if your putting your foot to the floor at each stop which isn't how most ppl drive. It's way more aggressive = more fuel.
@@yuyuyu9029eco mode didn’t seem to work well for me. You it did?
@@schmidtlifeproductions603 I’m at 14 mpg in my scat barely any difference
Even if all it changes is your throttle response you're still going to get to full throttle faster so it has to make a few milliseconds difference
.2 to .5 seconds quicker depending on car.
Sprint Booster on my wife's 370Z 7 speed auto cut all the slop out of the throttle response and cut 4/10ths off 0-60, but it feels like a lot more.
I have a 9-Drive electronic gas pedal in my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT and in my opinion, the 9-Drive has done more than any other mod or mods that I’ve had on my previous cars. It’s easy to install and it works. The 0-60 is 4-5 seconds because with a turbocharger you have to wait for the turbocharger to spool up and give you more power but aside from that and like I already said, the electronic gas pedal is the way to go.
That’s pretty slow with all that mods
@@rook3364 those 05/06Legacy’s were never quick, I beat one ☝️ with a LEXUS GS300 and 5 People in the car 🚗 . If he is getting 0-60’in 4-5 now it’s Quick 😅.
2step will help with turbo lag by building boost before launch
Would this be good on a 2012 Hyundai veloster non turbo
I think it will probably reduce some lag on most models
Will it work with jeep compass ‘19?
You can check for your model/year on their website: ultimate9usa.com
Do have the old rims just asking how much r u selling them
I'm keeping them for the winter!
How are you getting 0-60 in 7 seconds? My 2012 jeep grand cherokee srt8 does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds
Is that what you clocked or is that what you saw online. Either way BJP's jeep in this video is only a V6, its not the srt or track hawk versions.
Interesting results. Have been waiting for the results thank you bro! Can't wait till you get tatted 😂
Only like 1600 more subs, idk if we’re gonna hit it lol
@@BJPLIFESTYLE not sure if it's a bad thing, I feel like you going to feel relieved 😂
I had and an electronic gas pedal or electronic throttle control on an 06 Subaru Legacy GT Limited and an 05 Subaru Legacy GT Limited and that really woke that little turbocharged 2.5l engine up a lot, it just made it seem to be faster which is why I liked it so much and now I’m getting one for my current car which it needs a lot even though it’s naturally aspirated (NA) which is no turbocharger or no supercharger for those that actually read this and don’t know what NA means.
Same with my 2015 Camry SE , it's naturally aspirated
I have no idea why I stated what NA meant or what it stood for and I still posted don’t know NA means.
@@mzsinko0984 yeah but I still understood what you meant , like reading a typo but you know what the word is in your head
As this is in between the pedal and the brain box to the throttle body, what happens when it fails? All electronic parts fail, eventually. So does it fail throttle wide open? Or full closed? This is what is keeping me from getting one.
Hahahaaa
Throw it in neutral. Stop the car and shut it off. It won't kill the engine if it sits redlined for a minute.
@@larskbragdon If I am on the highway, 70mph, throwing her in neutral isn't really a smart move. I have been looking for a long term review of this and the others, haven't found any.
I've had mine 5 months with no problems in my 2018 altitude, my buddy had a problem with his in his wrangler after a couple months and it made his jeep start ta buck, he pulled over and just disconnected it and he was fine..considering these new pedals are electronic and not cable I'm sure they can go bad too at some point
@@leonardpelehowski6433 I think for me this is a hard pass right now. I am going to keep an eye on long term reviews or the late night commercial for the lawyer doing the class action lawsuit.
No added power but got our Jeep’s taking off like a rocket 🚀 😭😭
To the moon like dogecoin lol
@@BJPLIFESTYLE to the moon 🌙 🚀 😭
Why do people even comment on what the product Isn't designed to do?
It didn't make me taller, but my car accelerated like a rocket! It only advertised one thing!! Get your car upgraded if you want herspers!😅
Love the car and video, not here to hate but dude you look just like Dylan from modern family 😂
I have no idea who that is lol but thanks for watching 🤣🤣
Try doing it again without traction control cause the system is fighting you🤔
it will make it faster by only the amount of throttle lag the manufacturer put in.
I feel like it's more worth it for people who have 1st gen vehicles with the wired acceleration where it's extremely slow to respond.
Yessir, exactly why I got a roar pedal
Good video I feel it’s a waste of time/money!!! Thanks for video
It does exactly what it says, it get rid of throttle lag
u have to do it w traction off mane
Might depend on the brand
omg they do
Cap
My 2011 infinity g25 does 0 to 60 in the same time and I weigh less
Obviously this tool isn’t meant to make your car faster. It’s meant to get rid of throttle lag.
A real test would be pedal to 30 (or 60). Not 0 to 30. With or without the controller the test begins when the vehicle begins to roll. Not when you press the throttle.
Because you are flooring it your driving it back in stock mode. On U9 you use only the first 1/4 of the pedal. Any further it's like having a stock pedal
Just curious according to thecarhp the car should be 0-60 at 6.7 seconds. You are showing 7 seconds.
I’m not sure how they got that lol All if my tests before even doing anything was pushing 8.5/9 seconds and then it went lower after doing a few things. It’s only the v6 model so I don’t expect much
22' wheels are the most likely factor but I'd say ³/10 of a second is the kind of variation you can expect to see on any given day. Also, keep in mind, that the 6.7 sec run, includes 1' of rollout *if* it's taken from a publisher, like Car & Driver or MotorTrend.
Lots of places online get the v8 version mixed up. V6 is 7+ seconds, v8 is 6.5-6.7 seconds, SRT 4.5 seconds, track hawk 3.5 seconds.
@@ragedashboard6374 I see this one stating:
"equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 290 hp @ 6400 rpm and 257 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm of torque. The car takes 6.7 seconds to reach 60" 👇
www.carindigo.com/jeep/grand-cherokee/0to60
*But* looking at other (more reputable) reviews, I think you might be spot on.
No brake boost, serious use brain
Wait..sport mode ? Da fk is Race Mode 9?
It's not a real acceleration test if you don't test it without the product installed to have a baseline number to compare your results to...
Bruh nobody says they make the car faster 😂
My Cadillac ATS with Race Pedal ETC will shave off 3 tenths of a second with it set to mode 2.7. If I max it out to the highest mode it actually makes my car slower.
I think that’s the case on that one too
It is slower in the higher settings but feels better down low
@@mrporsche4236 like smashing your foot to the floor 🤣
You still have on the eco mode
The button "on" = eco off!
Don't give a rats ass if you get a tattoo or not. :)
I don’t remember asking
Faster
This unit is crap go get the pedal commander because on my BMW, I managed to shave off a full second 0 to 60 ..
No just throttle respons
The only effect it seems to have is whiplash on your neck.l think that I will take a pass on this one . 🚑🚑🚑🚑
It's a nice little upgrade for daily driving if you like to get on it! Just as far as the 0-60 etc goes... kind of a lack of improvement lol
Every sauce at Chic-fil-A is disgusting.
😂😂😂
Stop the cap
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
People talk too much and don't do enough testing. Blah blah blah, I don't want to see you rambling, I want see results because thats what actually matters. Two tests isn't enough to form a conclusion.
Thank god at least one dude went to the track and even deflated his tires with actual time slips to show it does improve reaction time with proper setup.
This isn’t mythbusters gang if you wanna make videos for old people go make your own channel 🤣
