Al, you too solve many problems online and like Ben and Jason, you can do anything. Jason watching you build, fence work with your animals with joy is great. Understand trying to determine what and how to video can be difficult. But, we appreciate all the content you guys produce. Thanks for a great year.

re LGD - out of a litter of 8-12 puppies - some will show an innate preference to be outside with animals and others in the litter will gravitate towards people/house. Both are capable of guarding a property. Either way - with the size of properties that each of you have - recommend planning for a PAIR of LGDs - adopt one that has grown up with animals/farm that you can train to your home/routines/animals and once he/she demonstrates confidence and consistent behaviors then you can adopt a puppy and the older dog will be a HUGE asset in helping you train the puppy how to "dog" and be an LGD. The older dog will teach the puppy manners, structure and other key elements of recognizing danger (or not), etc. and will help burn off the energy of the puppy.

Jerod Crocker (south texas roots) and his family have a ranch way down south in TX where they have Nailguy. They are big like moose. Cog hill farm has a huge jersey cow. The word in the chefs circle here in cattle country is that dairy cows make surprisingly good beef. They are bought from local dairy farms for beef once they don't produce milk as well as they demand.

We have Anatolian Shepherds for guardians. Jason you are correct, they do tend to roam if you don’t have proper fencing. We found that the Anatolian Shepherds don’t roam as badly as the Great Pyrenees but we still built a 5 foot fence with an electric top wire to make sure ours stay home.
You are wise to wait for the right time. They take a good bit of time to train to start with but ours caught on so quickly that they fast became a real asset to the farm. They are great dogs.❤

I don't know why really, but when Jason said the first time he'd ever talked to Al on the phone was when he asked him to be on the podcast I just started applauding! It surprised the shit out of me. There wasn't a thought connected to it or nothing, it was like my hands were possessed and just really happy about this! Man. Human brains are weird. To be clear, the rest of me is just as happy about it but I don't often applaud things on the screen while I'm sitting here in my room by myself.

Happy New Year guys! Nice of you to help Ben and the Hollars butcher their steer! I haven't finished the year round up video you did Jason. Your fencing project is quite the big project. Wow, 1300 pound steer! I hope you got lots of meat out of that cow! Nice that you let the Hollars use your trailer cooler Jason! I'm so glad everything went smooth. Wow, lots of rain. Nice that you could get a day off by letting him nurse on his mom some days. I'm glad to here you are doing it too Al. Yeah, get that lard! I'm glad you guys didn't get hurt from the floods Al. It's New Year's Eve day and I got to visit the skiing area here in the Cascades, Steven's Pass and it was snowing. Kind of fun because my family back home in Minnesota woke up to 2 inches of snow overnight. We all got snow today! Watching the fireworks show at the Space Needle in Seattle right now. They'll have 500+ drones and they have the rock group Heart performing. Target practice.

Good job you guys. I actually have watched all three of you for years so I know about most things you refer to. Ben...I never thought that cow was that heavy either but he sure was a beautiful specimen! I could really take a stroll down memory lane but just had to say good job! Thanx 🙋🏼‍♀️

Canning meat is good, if you have a freezer failure you'll just cry over that loss, trust me not having it all in one basket is a life saver! Oddly for beef, I prefer canning ground, not fond of the texture on the cubed. Just some ideas!

I think a cool thing for the podcast in the new year would be getting guests on the show. If I had my pick for the first guest it would be Erik and Ariel from Simple Living Alaska. Love watching all 4 of your channels and would be great to see you all have a conversation.

Our best selling game meat is South Texas Antelope. These animals are officially named the "nilgai" antelope and originate in India and Nepal. "Nilgai" means "blue bull" in certain East Indian dialects. They were originally introduced to the King Ranch in the 1930's by a family member who decided that South Texas was a tough environment for cattle that had evolved in a cooler climate.
