Great video again, loving these template tuesdays :) some great info on them! Thanks!
So glad to hear that you're loving the series! If you have any template ideas feel free to send them my way!
I recently built a timesheet app and I was looking for a video like this for quite a while, thanks for sharing it with us April.
You're very welcome!
i got similiar timesheet request from Business in very urgent timeframe, I spend some time on watching your video, realized there is much work to be done and was trying to find some easy solution on google. and then come back to your video again and finally whent to the bottom of decription and you should know how i filled after reading that you posted template on github. You saved my day. Thank you so much for your time and effort.
Hey Andrey - So happy to hear that this has helped you!
Thanks April, I used your template for a work project - saved me a bunch. Cheers.
That's awesome Daniel - so happy to hear this template helped you!
Thank you April, for sharing another precious gem!
You're welcome, thanks Bernd!
great template, I will break it down to "borrow" some code. very useful tips, thank you April!
Thanks Pedro! Always great to hear from you!
Excellent video, everything I needed and so well explained , thanks a lot for making this one 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Good example of a working app for a common use case! Explained very simply
Glad it was helpful!
Great video April. I appreciate all the time and effort.
Thank you Joe, I appreciate you for watching!
Awesome, this was just what i was looking for. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching - glad it was helpful!
Thank you for nice templates!
You're welcome 😊
How would you go about restricting certain users from (1) seeing their own entries and (2) allowing them to approve those. At the moment, all users are able to submit time AND approve their own entries. My hope is to have an "admin" user only be able to approve their entries.
Thanks for sharing, great app. I tried to recreate the functionality of the timesheet gallery for another project, but the values in the gallery won't save back to my list. Seems like it's only looking at the collection. My ForAll/Patch is set up the same way yours is here
Amazing! I would love a video that you show how to create the app from scratch.
This is very interesting. Can the individual entries be added to a common table with one line per entry? Share point or excel for example? Not yet clear on that. Just beginning to learn about power apps so that I can replace my infopath forms soon.
Hi April, this is such a great video, but I keep hitting an error, can yu help! On the timesheet patch around 6:15 into the video, I replicated what you have, however, everytime I hit the plus Icon, it deletes the first billto record above, also it is not patching the billto record over to my sharepoint list, but it does patch everything else.
Thanks for this April - do you know if there is a similar app that tracks Start and End times by day/project, then calculates the time spend for each row? In other words, instead of entering the number of hours, enter start and end time for each row. Thanks & Best!

Hi April, great template and nice explained in the video! What if i have added an entry and saved it as draft and decide i don't need it? I can remove it from the collection, but this does not update with the Sharepoint list and will not be removed? How can i update the Collection in a way this also will take out the entry in the gallery? Thanks for your great work! Regards, Erik

Great April, thank you for the awesome templates
Glad you like them!
@@AprilDunnam I am a little bit confused April, I am failing to find reference to the "Employees" and "Job Sites" Sharepoint Lists which are initially connected to the template. The Flow only refers to the "Timesheet Entries" and the "BillTo" Lists. Please assist/clarify

Thanks for sharing your video. It i very helpful. I would love a tutorial on a timesheet where you can set a start time fx. 08.00 and end time fx 13.00 and a field to calculate number of hours. Plus set rules for how many hours are after 16-06 or in the weekends - these hours give a plus of 25% i salary.

Hey April, great work!...love this app.
Would it be possible to add a little more info about how to reconnect the data sources/repositories please?
I've added the template into my Dev tenant but having issues pulling and pushing the data.
Hey - thanks! You can click on the cylinder "data" tab on the left hand side and find the SharePoint lists. Click the three dots next to them and click the "remove" option. Then you can go back into the data source tab and click "add". Search for the SharePoint option and click it - pick the site you deployed the lists to from the panel then select the lists. Hope that helps!
Hi, this is great template and i am started using this , what i would require is to add a + button in all timeentry text box for the week and if i click the + sign it will display a multi line text box to add commants for each day time entry rather than a comment for the entire week , how would i achieve this , appreciate your help

Hey Stephen - I just answered your question in my latest video. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/qqEHiB6v_i4/видео.html

When I try to import the TimesheetProvisioner into Power Automate, I get an error message saying 'The solution file is invalid. The compressed file must contain the following files at its root: solution.xml, customizations.xml, and [Content_Types].xml. Customization files exported from previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics 365 are not supported.'
Is there anything I can do to solve this?
Hi Gavin -
This is because this isn't a solution file - it's an import of a Power App and of a Power Automate Flow. So don't add it via the solutions section, go to Import Flow instead
This is so great, I'm a bit of a novice but I'm really trying. Do you have a video of the column set up on SP that links to this App? Thank you so much for all of this
Hey Kim -
In the Github repo for the template there's a Flow that should create all the lists that you need for the app called "TimesheetProvisioner.zip". Also, I recently create an intro to SharePoint video that might be helpful in getting a feel for how lists work:ruclips.net/video/6q8Woozw3IM/видео.html

Thanks Sudip!
Hi April, awesome app/video. Do you have any full tutotial or step by step video for this or other apps? Regards
I don't have a complete step by step unfortunately simply because there are so many steps it could be a multi-hour video to show everything. My hope was by providing the template people could just install and customize it. I can try to do a more detailed video if there's something specific to show?
Thank you so much for this content! I downloaded your template but I’m having trouble changing the data set name from the default URL. I can’t figure out how to change the URL for the BillTo and the TimeEntries SharePoint sources.
I read the deployment instructions that you included with the zips but I’m not seeing the Action where I can “! Enter the URL of SP site to Deploy here”.
Thank you again!
It appears you’ve already answered my question! You’re awesome.
I have this same question, but I don't see where she answered it? Any help?
Hi April, i m facing problem while importing flow ,, create billto is giving error,,can anyone help ?
Do you know if the first day of the week in the calendar component is configurable? I would prefer Monday to be the first day of the week. The native power apps calendar is really disappointing, it should allow for first day of the week to be configured, select colours without changing the theme, restrict dates, select a data range, not require user to press OK to select a date.
Hi Dean,
The out of the box date picker control definitely is lacking in the configurability area. This calendar component probably can be customized to change the first day of the week. It's using a series of galleries for the weeks days across the screen and the dates that show so you should be able to tweak those formulas to switch when the week start is
Great video, 1 quick question, how do you make Sunday the first day of the Week instead of Monday? Thanks
I am fairly new with power app. I followed the instructions to download the zip file but I cannot upload it in power automate. I get an error message that says invalid file extension. It's downloads the zip file as .json.I am doing anything wrong? Can someone help?
Hey April, There is thing that when we press the Add button, the combo box gets reset, like at 10:33 in the video.Any fix for that?

Hi April, thanks for this very useful tool and explanations. I uploaded your 2 canvats (V1 and V2) and don't know why I can't get the TimeEntries.Employee.Name on the dashboard screen and neither on the "MyTimeSheets" ? Do you have any idea why ? Many thanks and best regards
My issue seems to be related to other posts below about 'Week Start' but I don't undertsand what the issue is. Is that related to regional format , I am based in belgium with French setup, ... Many thanks for your help
This is working great, apart from one thing. The weeks in the drop down are based on today's date, not the previous Monday- and I can't figure out why that's happening!

Hello Very nice video. I have downloaded the file from github. How do I get the sharepoint lists with columns and datatypes you used?
Thanks! If you look at the Github Repo where you downloaded the app you will see instructions. Read the instructions to see the steps to use the Flow provided that will create the lists for you
Hi,
Good one, will try using this. Couple of questions.
1. What's the sharepoint lists looks like.?
2. Can I use a filter to get the lookup values based on the user?
3. Can I recreate using your video without using your template as I am not sure I can use ur temples officially.
4. I need only 5 days working. Do I need to change in big ways?
Thanks
Elliot
1. There's one list which stores the time entry items. It has a week start/week end field, and number fields for Mon - Sun. You can use the flow included in the template to deploy the SharePoint lists and see the structure
2. Yes you can use a filter query to filter based on current user
3. I did not include every single step to re-create this in the video. That would triple the length of this video and it was not my intention. My intention was to provide a re-usable template that others can download and customize. With the video's I just highlight how the solution works and some of the key aspects.
4. That's not a big change. Just remove those dates from the gallery.
Thanks for your quick reply.
April, this app is amazing - thank you for sharing it. I wonder if you can help with a few issues I am having?
1) when i click the save button, it says ‘your timesheet has been saved’, but my timesheet doesn’t show up in the list under ‘my timesheets’.
2) if I add two different lines against different BillTo fields, when i submit, it makes all the times the same as the first entry - (it actually happens when I click approve, not when I submit for approval) - any ideas?
3) I would actually like to get rid of the approval process - is there an easy way to do this?
Hi Hugh,
Did you overcome this issue? I've got the same problem and I've tried the distinct option as mentioned in the comments. However, no luck! :( Been very frustrating...any help would be highly appreciated.

Same Problem here as well. Did you find a solution to the problem number 2? Thanks in advance! And thanks again April for this template!

That's just for testing to make sure it's getting the weeks correctly :)
Hi April I have Imported this package but am getting Error on Save ICon item and subbmission items need your help in this
90% of the time this is due to a difference in the column names in your data source vs what the app is referencing. Usually when you have spaces in the column names or lack thereof which the code on the button is expecting. I would cross reference those values in the app versus your list
Thank you, April! I was looking for something similar. Does someone has an updated version of this template app?
What do you mean by updated version?
The app seems very usefull, thanks! Trying to import the provisioner file i get error below. Would you know what i am doing wrong? "The solution file is invalid. The compressed file must contain the following files at its root: solution.xml, customizations.xml, and [Content_Types].xml. Customization files exported from previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics 365 are not supported."
Hi Victor - that's because the provide Zip is not a solution, it's just an export of an app. You need to import it in Power Apps using the "Import App" tab

Carol T yeah ; you might wanna change the query on the gallery of my timesheets to distinct(filter(...),x). Remove sortbycolumn() function and you should be fine.
Any chance at updating this to fix the "BillTo" errors?
What errors are you seeing? It's probably due to the name not matching in the formula vs what's in the list. There's probably a space or not a space in the list name. Probably just need to update the formulas to either remove or add the space in the name.
Can you connect this events to Outlook Calendar?
I would like to create an event in the calendar based on the timesheet, or if I can do it the other way around will be also good. By the way, great videos April, thanks for sharing the knowledge :)
Hi april, thanks for this video just got it at the right time, i tried downloading your template, got stuck at step 5, lookup of billto list, can you please guide me on how to proceed. TIA
Hi Pricilla,
Sure let me try to outline the steps:
1. Go to the TimeEntries list in SharePoint
2. You should see an option in the list for "Add Column"
3. In the list of options choose "More"
4. In the next screen for the Title put in BillTo - exactly as you see with no space
5. In the list of radio button options for field type choose "Lookup"
6. You'll see two additional dropdowns show. In the first one select the "BillTo" list
7. In the second dropdown make sure the Title field shows
8. Click "OK"

I managed to figure out on my own how to extend the weeks backwards lol Thank you for all you share it's truly appreciated!!
Hi April, this is probably a dumb question, but how does the app know which user is using the app? How does it know to only display the user's information and not another user's? In addition to, how do I make sure only the admins can approve the timesheets?
Thank you so much!
Hello,
That's not a dumb question at all. In the start of the app I can getting the current logged in users info using the User() function. I use that data to filter the Timesheets gallery so they only see items that they submitted. Their info is automatically carried over in the patch statement when it writes back to the list.
The timesheet approvals gallery should automatically be filtered so that it only shows items in which the current logged in user is listed as the manager in the item (which is automatically populated using a lookup for the current logged in users manager) so that ensures that the user can't apprvoe their own timesheet in the app

Hi April, this is a great template i like it, ...i have downloaded the template but then the save button its only saving in the SharePoint list not to the MyTimesheets screen. Please assist.
In the timesheets list in SharePoint can you check to see if your name is getting written to the SharePoint list in the Employee and Manager fields? Next I would take a look at the Gallery on the MyTimesheets screen and look at it's Items property. There's a filter on there and it is either set to filter on the Manager or Employee field. You might verify that and change it as needed. Let me know
@@AprilDunnam Hi April, I think I am having the same problem as mentioned by @modjadji, I already tried your instruction above but still it is not working. :( Please help. Thanks.

I was trying to import this on my tenant. And i can;t understand "Go to the TimeEntries List and add a Lookup Column called "BillTo" that points to the BillTo Lists Title field." Like i know there is a Create Time Entries List in the flow but where do i add this lookup column..
Hi Pranav,
So in SharePoint you'll want to go to the site that you selected to deploy the lists to. Then you will look for a list called "TimeEntries". Open that list up and click the plus button to add a new column. You'll see a list of column types and should see an option for "more" or "other". That will take you to another screen. It will ask you to name the new column and you will name it "BillTo". Then it will prompt you to select a list in a dropdown and you will select the "BillTo" list. And then there will be another dropdown below that where you select a column and for that you'll select "Title". Just click "OK" once you configured that and you're done.
April Dunnam thank you so much. I’m super new to microsoft services. Keep up the good work.

Hi Rodrigo -
I've noticed some weird things with the flow that was originally used to provision the list. It didn't appear to work consistently across different regions and tenants. Because of that I have changed the template where it doesn't use the Flow to provision the lists anymore. I have documented how you need to create the underlying SharePoint lists in the documentation now. The latest template with that documentation is available on the PnP Sample Browser site here: github.com/pnp/powerapps-samples/tree/main/samples/Timesheet . Hopefully that helps!

I tried the template that you share with me and I found a detail with the start date as it does not correspond to Monday of the current week as well as Sunday of the same week. Example, Monday takes it as June 3 and Monday of this week was May 31.
Do you have a tutorial to manage dates?
Thanks for everything!
