Interesting. I am an aggressively mediocre flipper always trying to improve, but there was a period when I just lost motivation. A couple months later, I picked up my balisong again and started doing weird stuff, new movements, weird aerials, etc. and now I have a channel with 24 subs! I think as a community we need to move away from tech and speed and go towards originality and interestingness, like flipper was a dolphin and whatnot.
As an inter flipper myself, I just thought I'd point out the contradictions within your comment. To begin, you claim that the community should "move away from tech" yet tech flipping is a style, just like comp/traditional flipping is a style, telling a community to move away from a style completely to focus on "originality" is like asking a Baker to make bread without the yeast because using yeast is unoriginal. This Hobby is built on 3 main style pillars, one being comp, one being aerials and the other being tech ( I would class doubles as a sub style, since it's an addition to all 3). From these 3 styles it gives flippers a baseline of what things are already tricks, in which people can use to not only make up their own unique style (which is different to the "baseline" styles), but it also gives way to new tricks being made as the hobby grows. Flipper, Tyfan and many others that have very interesting styles and their own unique spin on flipping, also used either comp, aerial or tech as a baseline or guide to ways in which they could come up with things that are interesting. While you may not see it, there is actually a lot of originality in the community already, even with smaller things like the way in which someone executes a trick, or how people implement tricks into a combo. Just because you may not see it doesn't mean there isn't originality try being more open to learning other styles and maybe you'll find something you like.
@@no.1water-enjoyer I think originality is what pushes the hobby forward. I feel like tech is exactly that. It’s hard to talk about because tech is not a super well defined word within the hobby. Glad you found your passion for it again :)

There are endless tricks that no one has seen before. Try to practice outside of what you know. Flipping is a mediation for me, it allows me to direct my focus where i want, and meditate on things in my life i want to impove.... it kinda goes hand in hand.

Being a jackass is only funny to a point if someone is clearly trying to hurt you either ignore them or make a fool of them, toxic people in most cases are just butt-hurt and can't find peace for whatever reason..
@@m0rtred yeah I should give it attention but I suppose at the same time I can’t help but hope for the idealistic (and maybe unrealistic) expectation that people can be better than that. Oh well
there are many ppl (many of them "advanced flippers" who have grown a litttle to big of an ego with their flipping persona ) that have the mindset of wanting to see something new in every clip. these same ppl have way less fun in the hobby & are often seen with horrible takes about the hobby.
I been flipping for a few months and enjoy it as a hobby. The issue I see with the ballisong "community" is that the content is extremely monotone on RUclips. It's some white nerdy kid walking, giving a speech on life, and flailing a piece of metal. We can't even see the tricks because the spinning is too fast. I'm in no way taking a jab at this channel, it's across the board with only a few stand outs.
@@Nebulation interesting point of view, I guess I never considered myself to talk monotone but oh well. There are some people who flip and talk and some who just talk. I’ve found that flipping while talking just has a more casual feel to it. With this channel, my goal is to just hit record and kinda ramble. I understand how that’s not universally appealing but at the same time I guess I’m trying to not be motivated so much on pleasing others, and instead do it for myself. Sounds like you prefer a more structured approach to this hobby’s content which, as you mention, there are a few standouts that do provide that. To each their own. Happy flipping bro
@ I meant the content is monotone on RUclips for ballis, not your voice. I got recommended this video because I’ve seen some of yours previously, and it did have utility for me, whatever I clicked on. Your flipping speed is something a noob can follow. Too fast is bad, eyes can’t follow it (ya i don’t always want to adjust video speed). IMO ballisong tricks aren’t meant to be so fast, it’s all optical, and if it’s a blur whats the point?
